Sorry, fellow bronies, but Fluttershy is one of the most one-dimensional and overrated MLP:FIM characters to exist, and the one time she ever got a decent character arc (her learning to be more assertive) they instantly shelve it.

OT: Kratos, Gordan Freeman, and Nathan Drake. Kratos is a douche, Freeman is kinda plain, and Drake just annoys me. I'm not saying they are good games just I don't like these characters.

A thing about the blank state characters. How could anyone hate them? Do you hate a blank paper too? It seems like hypocricy when people hate blank slate characters and berate the ones who like them despite their blankness. But i do know love triumphs all.

My most hated character is that chick from NeverDead. How terribly written she was.

I dislike Daenerys Targaryen. I've only watched the show, but she just seems to get more obnoxious and entitled as the series goes on. There's nothing really interesting about her or her actions either. I don't really hate her, but every time she's on screen I find myself waiting impatiently for the show to change to another character.

Wheee, time to make myself terribly unpopular in one of my favourite fandoms...

Naoto. Fucking. Shirogane. Augh. I just hate everything about her, and I really wanted to like her too. She drives me up the wall, rubs me the wrong way, puts my hackles WAY up. I really felt that her gender dysphoria was incredibly poorly handled, ESPECIALLY with Kanji's gender issues to compare and contrast with. I also really dislike how she pretty much takes over the plot and the IT once she joins, up until then it was much more of a group effort and suddenly it's just her basically breaking the entire case on her own. The worst part is that I love Persona 4, think it's about the best game I've ever played, and love pretty much each and every character in the game EXCEPT Naoto. Oi.
You really think Naoto is the worse character in P4? Wow that's a shock, Rise and Yukiko are a hell of a lot worse. Rise is practically useless and is pretty much just eye candy cahtting up the MC whenever she can and Yukiko is just so boring and really doesn't add much to the story, even her shadow wasn't that interesting.

Spiderman. Seriously. Every story with the guy is melodramatic as all hell.

You think Ron is bad but, yeah, fuck Harry too.

The Great and Powerful Trixie. Fuck you.

Raphiel from Tmnt. He acts like a complete jackass all the time.

Master Chief has zero personality.

Marcus Fenix is bland as hell. Pretty much everyone in Gears except for Braid and Cole.

Gorden Freeman. This one just baffels me, as he hasnt spoken once, yet everyone loves the character. You could play as Alex in 3 and nothing would change.

My gosh this list got crazy long.
Spiderman is super upbeat in almost every comic book story, and he does it in the face of losing nearly everyone >_>.

Ron is a douchebag, no arguments there, he has far too many inexplicable mood swings.

Raphael is insecure, that's pretty much the root of it. Each one of them is the manifestation of a simple idea into a very embellished character, his manifestation is insecurity.

Master chief is blah.

Marcus fenix is blah.

So is GF, and all 3 for the same reason, these are the male equivalents of Bella from Twilight, they are empty vessels for your to super impose yourself into.

Liked your list :).

And agreed. I like Marston, actually, but his badass card is definitly not valid, especially when compared to Jimmy Hopkins (who actually is my alltime favorite male video game protagonist, so kudos to ya)
Bully is the last Rockstar game I actively enjoyed, before they got all super serious and forgot how to have fun with their characters.

Gary is one of the greatest game villians, by the way. There should be more manipulative little asswipes like him around.

Tavros.

Just Tavros.

Everytime I read this guy's dialouge.pesterlog's I jsut get the overbearing feeling that Hussie is just hoving down my throat 'HE IS CRIPPLED AND HE HAS LOW SELF-ESTEEM HAVE SYMPATHY RAAAAAAAAA'.

He literally does nothing of note for the entirety of his short life in the comic.

I was glad when my patron stabbed that bastard.

'Da Cole-train!' from Gears of War. My God, that guy is a FUCKING CHILD. I mean, say what you like about the others, but at least they're not cheering and whooping whilst slicing up sentient creatures.

Alyx Vance from Half Life 2. She's really not as interesting as everyone makes her out to be. All she really does is have a pointless crush on Freeman.

Not going to beat a dead horse with what I think about Miranda Lawson, so I'll just say Specialist Traynor. Mostly because she's not Kelly.

Is Naruto as in the character himself is still popular these days? Even to this day, he's still arrogant and annoying as hell. I tend to like most protaganist in a Shonen series but Naruto is the only one I dislike the most.
Naruto is one of the better characters, he's gone through some shit but he still stays strong and keeps fighting for those he loves and everyone else. If anything, I pretty much despise Sasuke now. His brother put everything on the line and had to go through more than any human ever, and he just throws away all that.

MLP:FiM cast, mostly because of oversaturation and OMGOMGOMGOMGOMOMGOMOMG!!!!!1!!1!1! LOOK AT DERPY, HE'S THE BEST CHARACTER EVER!!!! :p:p:p:p:p:p

Also, The Joker and Batman from non-Nolan films. Joker's just a psychopath, why care for him? Batman is no better, he adamantly adheres to the idea of not killing the joker or any other super-villain even though he knows the WILL get out and kill more people. Therefore, Batman is at least as responsible for every death as the villains.

I definitely can't argue about Sasuke, I loathe him so much! In my view he cannot be redeem at all due to this insane logic and psychopath like attitude!

Link.

Simply because all he says is this:

HYA! HWAH! HHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I imagine his parents(shut up, I know) talking about it and it going something like this:

"HYA! HWAH! HHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

"Wow...looks like Link learned a new word today! Who's so precious!?"
"HYA!"
"Honey...I think maybe its time we bought him hooked on phonics..."
"PREPOSTEROUS! I didn't learn how to speak until I was 16, he'll be fine!"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"...I'll put the order in tomorrow."
"Good idea"

And that's how my brain works

I enjoyed him in the 90s toon and Evolution. The problem is that he is the leader, so he has to make leader decisions and come off as a commander.
I enjoyed him in the 90s cartoon and Evolution as well, but then I started reading more X-Men comics and he's a bit of a dick. He really rubbed me the wrong way in Wolverine and the X-Men cartoon.

Still, he's their leader, like you said, and he has to be that way.

Erik AKA The Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera.

Warning: spoilers (mostly for the musical) follow. Although honestly you should know the plot of this by now.

The guy basically coaches this orphaned girl (Christine) when her father dies, making her dependent on him and lying to her about who/what he is. And then she meets her childhood friend, and their love is rekindled, and because he's a jealous, horrible man, he kidnaps her, and possibly seduces/rapes her in the process. And then freaks the hell out on her when she takes off his mask. And then lets her go back because.

She's obviously in love with Raul, but the Phantom wants to take her away and make her his forever. Because she's HIS damnit. Which he does.

Raul goes after her, and ends up getting caught by the Phantom himself. The Phantom then delivers an ultimatum: Christine has to either choose the Phantom, so that Raul may live, or Freedom, and Raul will die (and I somehow doubt he'd live up to his word anyways). Christine chooses the Phantom, so that Raul may live, despite Raul's protests that he'll die gladly if it means she is free.

And then the Phantom gains a conscience and lets them go. Yaaaay.

But... almost everyone I knew LOVED the Phantom and HATED Raul. WHY. WHY. WHY. THE PHANTOM IS THIS CREEPY EPHEBOPHILE THAT'S BEEN MANIPULATING CHRISTINE AND RAUL HAS DONE NOTHING BUT CARE FOR HER AND PROTECT HER** I DON'T GET IT ALKJSLDFJSKLDKFSDKFJSLDFJSLDFSJDKFSDLFSF.

*breathes* Okay I'm good now.

[sub]**Except for the whole using her as bait to catch the Phantom, that wasn't very nice of him, but sacrifices and all that yadda yadda[/sub]

Every character from Dragon Age 2, especially Fenris.

Cloud and Vincent from Final Fantasy 7.

Last but not least, Tidus from Final Fantasy X. Seriously, screw Tidus.

Just once, can't we have an "X you love that everyone else hates" thread? Just once? No? We have to keep up the endless cycle of negativity here on The Escapist? Sheesh, I'm surprised Game Grumps isn't hosted here.

Let me see... how about Link? There we go.
We've had those on the extremely rare occasion, but you're right the negativity around here is almost sickening.

OT, I suppose: The first that comes to mind is Sephiroth, or as I like to call him, Sephiroth Bates.

What I find annoying about Naruto is
"I'M GONNA SAVE SAUSKE AND BRING HIM BACK TO THE SIDE OF GOOD EVEN THOUGH HE'S TOTALLY EVIL NOW AND WANTS TO DESTROY MY ENTIRE VILLAGE! BELIEVE IT!"
Yeah, I understand that too, it can become a bit overbearing. However, it fits the theme of the series. Loneliness and the importance of good friends and family, and to never give up, even if everything seems hopeless.

I don't really understand the "I can project onto this" appeal of Gordon Freeman especially since people that think he's a great character have a tendency to in the same breath say how master chief is emotionless and uninteresting. Gordon has a face, a backstory, and every character in half life 2 seems to already know him and is so bizarrely affectionate to him that he seems more like a poorly fleshed out character than he does a blank slate. It would have been much better if they initially were skeptical towards him but eventually rallied behind him because of his heroic actions and combat abilities as opposed to "Hey gordon freeman! I know you! Remember that time we did this thing that clearly implies you have a personality so that now we're friends? Cool, since I know you so well lets fight the combines together."
