I just want a good ol' fashioned Wizard Rumble. Gandalf, Dumbledore, Elminster, Rand Al' Thor, Raistlin, Merlin, Dresden, Allanon, etc. Throw em all together in one last fictional battle!
Even though Dresden is my favourite, I say Rand would win merely due to Balefire... that is all

I think it's unfair to place characters in the neon genesis evangelion universe as anyone who isn't a child but is still capable of piloting evas would instantly become so OP that the angels don't stand a chance. Rei is easily the worst pilot and she has the worst Eva but she just happens to be the only one of those little shits who seem to realize that all of humanity is at stake. /rant

Anyway, the easiest answer is, any soldier from a modern day/sci-fi universe who goes to a medieval universe. Can you imagine master chief in LoTR? Samus in Naruto? But the best one is probably Alucard (pre invasion) in any other universe provided it isn't a really long running manga/anime or it has giant robots. Why not a long running manga/ anime? Because after a while, everyone gets so ridiculously powerful that it isn't even fun anymore....I call it the KAMEHAMEHA syndrome.

Kami tenchi. He's basically God in the Tenchi Univserse. TOAA. He's basically God in the Marvel Universe. Presence. He's basically God in the DC universe. Really, any "God" character. Also, I never really thought about how funny the word God sounded before. hehe, God.

Commander Shepard (FemShep) in any other story.

'nuff said.
I've never thought Shepard was really very good as a character. She was a bit...bland. However, placing her/him with Picard... *mindblown*
Fuck that, Picard replacing Shepard, best sci-fi series ever
...dear god... all we need is the Joker with a lightsaber and mastery of the force.

Hoo, boy...archmages from Mage are stupidly powerful. Forces 7 - MOVE. FUCKING. CONTINENTS. *****! Don't let me start on Examplars.

In the Dresden files, as powerful as the guys there are, they don't seem to be far above adepts. The most notable one are probably masters in more than one spheres (the Gatekeeper, the Merlin, for example) but for the most part, wizards seem to be somewhere between disciple and adept level, albeit with good grasp on more than one Sphere. Sorcerers in the Dresdenvese, however, seem more capable than the sorcerers in Mage.

Love the extensive analysis and totally agree.

Ultimately, Mages end up being always capable of beating the ass of any Dresdenverse mages for a very simple reason (or two) Time and Correspondence (I'm not even getting into Entropy). A starter mage can hold pre-made spells at will with Time (and rewind time etc etc.). And don't get me started on the mixed sphere Rotes (like the infamous one used by an infiltrated hermetic in the Akashic -- that summoned a lighting strike on anyone coming close to her while thinking aggressive thoughts towards her). Dresden-verse critter meant on harm? KABOOM! You're toast!

Not to mention prime -- can you imagine
"FUEGO!"... *birds chirp*
"Yeah, see, try making magic while I control your juice. Or absorb it to myself" (True, you'd need to be Arete 4 for that, but still)

And practically any starter mage could take on the Potter-mages, because really, with voice being a chief ingredient, Forces or Life could easily convert or rob him of their voice. It would really be a one-side fight.

Hmm, Dresdenverse mages seem to be able to do the suspended spell thingie. On the other hand, they have a big NO-NO on any other Time effects, except maybe some postcog. Actually, the same goes for Mind. They have a maybe Mind 2-ish, and that's the more talanted ones, but that's it. Well, Molly has more but the rest, I'd imagine, have only defensive effects. Entropy, they are able to use - remember the incident with the frozen turkey? My favourite quote comes right after "And for my next trick, anvils!" :D. Also, Correspondence seems like starter level stuff, at least up to 2-3.

So, as I said, Dresdenverse mages start slightly higher, but finish sooner, so their power curve, while still impressive, "flats out" sooner, while Mage mages just keep on growing.

As a side note, dunno if you saw, but the revised NWO book came out a couple of weeks ago! :D And the introductory part is some HIT Marks taking on a Hermetic Master of Forces (and manage to subdue him). Not before he goes vulgar, though. It's pretty sketchy, but later on in the book they keep referring to it as the "Greylocke incident" - something big happened, some bad Paradox backlash. I still have to actually finish the book and see how it goes. But where else do you have wizards fighting teminators and blowing up the landscape. :D

I think your character as a Knight in Dark Souls being in the Adventure Time universe would be cool. They would be a great hero from a land far away form Oooo. Considering the way you should play Dark Souls they would be very slow when moving to make sure they do not get ambushed. ( but they can be a human because Fin is the last human for all i know )
