Krantos, Amtruk, Kitara, Kyrie, Jade.

The first four are carryovers from when I wanted to be a writer back in Junior high/high school. The last is just the name My wife always uses, so when I want to build a character based on her, I use that name. Krantos is always a warrior, Amtruk the mage, Kitara is female dual-wield (if the game supports it, if not, simply warrior), Kyrie changes based on the game (Dragon age = Arcane Warrior, M&B axe-wielding knight).

And no, Krantos is not derivative from Kratos. I came up with the name in 7th grade which was about 12 years ago. God of War only came out 5 years ago.

My Fallout 3 character is Jackson Cooper. I've used that name for several other games.
Also Jack, Leroy Jenkins, and John F. Rancor.

I usually use Vimbert or Swarley for male characters and Wenchy for female characters.

I always rock Torrasque or Karel.
I used Tai for a while for some gameboy games that only allowed 4-letter names.

For fems, I always use Elayne, and usually throw in Samus for a second fem (if one arises).

For some games when you have to name lots and lots of characters (Ogre Battle 64 is the only example I can think of) do any of you start to run out of names?

In most games, I end up playing a warrior/fighter/berserker character, and I go with Rexxar (favorite DotA character, but I realize he's also in WoW)

The exception to that is a Star Wars game like KotOR, where I go with Odi-Han Shinobi. Just came up with it while trying to think of a good Jedi name, and it stuck. I think it has a nice ring to it.

If it so happens that it's a female character, I go with Ophelia.

I used to always play magic users and I came up with Zaverexus when I used to play MMOs and always used that because it was never taken.
And somewhere along the way my interest shifted from magic-users to rogue/assassins-types and I shortened it to Zavir

One name that I have always given my male characters is Martimus, but only if he is a mage or uses magic prominently. I just love the way it flows off of my tongue :)

I used to use Exile quite a bit, but not all the time. I do sometimes have running themes, tho: in Exile (yes, my namesake) the 6th guy in the group usually has some reference to the word "Konk", because the first time I played it with any deal of success he was just a thug with a club and a high level of assassination.

So yeah, running themes, rather than names I abuse. I actually prefer to change the names every time.

Yureina (Mage/Priest/Healer types)
Syranna (Melee/Rogue types)
Seiriah (Catch-all)

Those are my three catch-all names I use in most every game. Anything aside from those depends upon the game itself and what sort of character I am making. Fallout 3 for example, I tend to stick to real names, albeit still more obscure ones that most people wouldn't know.

I just tend to stick with the name they offer you, though the only games I play where you can change your character's name is Final Fantasy.
If I'm playing an online flash game, I normally go with rghfgfhfj.
