Kuro, it means black in Japanese. Not that I knew when I made it up. But it fits oftentimes.

usually Riottrio... but i can only use it once... so i make up names on the spot if i have multiple characters... i try make them sound fantasy-like for RPG's such as Oblivion or old FF games (6 letters is limiting, which is why i prefer oblivion), such as Caellach Sabrestride... sounds really geeky thinking on it now xD
Some JRPG's which are evidently focused around Japanese culture (such as the famous-as-of-late persona 4) i try pick a japanese sounding name, usually from piecing together names of random people from mangas (such as Shuuhei Namikaze... i think they are both surnames but what the heck :p)

I've got a friend whom it took 1 hour to start a Crystal Chronicles game with, because of the character naming screen... finally decided on that to find the town needed a name too >.>

Rasz (short from my family name), Rustler (closest sounding english word to the same family name, and it's pretty cool), The Nameless One (don't ask), Extraordinary Joe and Sir *insert whatever short name here* of the Intergalactic House of Pancakes.

Always Roland for a Fallout game, or in Oblivion, or any other RPG (with the exception of Pokemon).
Always Cptn. Cabbage for an FPS or shooter.
Always my own name for a Pokemon game.

I like using names from Anime and TV my friends don't watch so they think I'm original when coming up with cool sounding names but in reality I'm the most unoriginal person ever.

girl: Izumi, Eris,
Guy: Gourry, Zelgodis, Xanifer, Vrumugun

Mostly from Slayers. I've also used Neebs to name a Ranger my d&d group encountered when I was DMing

Spartan1077-*points to name*
John Smith-Because it's generic
Larry Underwood-Because it's my alter ego
Fence-*points to Larry's reason*

And on the off Chance I play a girl
*random name generator off google*

And when I used to be creative- Mario. Because I couldn't name characters until I lost half my brain cells(that last part was a joke)

Tarkin. Used to use the last name of a girl I liked, somehow it lost a few letters, thought it was cool so I used it. It also is kind of ambiguous (I think that's how to use the word...), so it can be a female or male name. If I used the word ambiguous don't hold it against me, it's been a rough day

Other than that I try to make unique names, or if I want it to be like me I use my last name. Last names are cooler than any first in my opinion

For nearly every game I have played in the last 4 years, Axel. Up until then I'd been using Link (I was a HUGE Zelda geek back then). Although in Diablo 2 I have characters by the names of Almeth (Necro), Carmith(Barbarian), and Girnak (Druid)
