To be honest it kind of really upsets me that Aang would have died so young, more so then the others. He was the Avatar. You would think that outside of war he would outlive most people.

(Not that 80+ is young, but you know what I mean)
Well, he technically was 112 years old in the original series...though Kyoshi lived to 300, so maybe 170 is young too for an avatar.

Sweet....can't wait, but I'm still concerned about the future of air benders, three kids is not really enough to restart an entire tribe, group culture, whatever you want to call it... You get the point.

Actually, the reason he died so early is because he spent 100 years in the Avatar State which shortened his natural lifespan. The more you use the Avatar State, the shorter your life is. Though, Toph should still be in this and kicking ass, that is out of the question

Source?

The advanced tech doesn't bother me, as the firenation was already pretty advanced, they had tanks and blimps, putting them already in the 1900s. Also fire nation while the others held Kingdom, Tribe, and air nomads in their names.

Considering Zuko was the new firelord, I'd think he probably brought about a golden age of advancement with Aang.

I know that I'm jumping on the "ZOMG" wagon but, Fuck it. I can't wait!! I had nearly given up on tv, then I caught a few reruns of this show, and got hooked. Anytime there was a marathon, I watched it, and I even bought all three seasons. This is, without a doubt, my favorite show ever. I started watching it when I was 19. I'm 23 now and still get excited when episodes come on.

I watched this and I got the shivers. You know what I mean. The "I don't know whether to scream or cry!" shivers. It may be a teaser, but It looks sooo goood.

Time to go watch it again.
.....

Yeah, I'm more interested in knowing what happened to Zuko and the Fire Nation. They were supposedly evil but with Zuko as the new leader, I'm hoping they turned good and less of an ass-populated nation?

That guy at the end, though. he reminds me of Sokka. I'm hoping they're not just taking the same characters from before and giving them new faces. It's too early to tell but...just saying. Just because Sokka and Toph were cool doesn't mean we want more of the same. Just. Saying.

I'm a little disappointed/nostalgic about the new steampunk world. I was kinda used to that rural-looking world. It seemed...ancient, if you will, but ingenious. Just look at the Fire Nation and the advantages they had over other nations; that was original. And the series itself was so beautifully colorful. This trailer doesn't seem as much.

But again, too early to tell. I'm still gonna watch it and probably like it.

I'm... not really too excited for this.

Oh, I lovee the idea of another avatar show. dont get me wrong. and the steam punk of the fire nation int he first avatar was great, and made me want more. But the focus was more on nature rather then machine. this one seems more based on machine rather then nature. I doubt there will be much travel, and its going to be a mini series of only a few episodes (otherwise its going to get old fast).

...

I dotn know. Its mostly this anti bender movment thing. it reminds me of Gurren Lagaan when they brought in the spirals and anti spirals, and how the show seemed to take itself too seriuosly after that and everything had to be deep and insightful and so plot focused.

But I'll still watch, of course. As long as it retains the feel of the original avatar cartoon show, like the movie was supposed to, then I'll be happy.

EDIT:

Also, oh.. um...w ait.

<spoiler=Spoiler Alert>Im glad that metal bending has been more widely taught and is being used int he show. it never made sense to me why people like Aang or Buumy couldnt learn it. especially since Aang was the avatar, and a whole new bending style would seem like a PRETTY big advantage on the fire lord

EDIT2:

and just a side note. her mount is fucking awesome. Please stay it sticks around through the series and gets a personality like appa had so its not just another animal.

The two problems i can see about this show

#1 It has biiig shoes to fill, and im not just talking about the Original Cartoon or to make up from the movie. They have decided to make it look more local and focused on the one city so they are going to have to ensure that the scenario dosent get old.

#2 The fact that they have stated that they are going to be starting from the character already knowing 3/4 elements. In the original Aang only knew Wind and less about his place in the 'verse, and EVEN less about the roll of the avatar. Korra is going to have guidance from the friends and family of the very recently passed on Aang. As well as the wisdom of her own learning of the elements, and the training from the best masters, Aang didn't have that he had whoever he could find.

Im interested and excited but those are the two big hurdles i see that they will have to overcome.
#1 It's a mini series, I heard 12 episodes somewhere, I think they can keep a city interesting for that long.

#2 I don't even see why this would be a problem, it's a different character so she faces different struggles, would you really want to see her just repeat Aang's journey?

I just have to point out Gurren Lagann was only like that for a few episodes before it decide to become the most ridicules, over the top show ever.

In answer to your other note

Metal bending was a master level skill, like shooting lightening for fire benders, Aang never had the time to learn it.

Dear John, your overt use of hyperbole aggrivates me. Can you please tone down your language?
It's not that I like being a kill joy, it is that I find it ludicrous that you are frothing your mouth over a simple trailer.
....Erm, OK? Sorry for being enthousiastic I guess. I just love Avatar and this is that, but more. So yeah. Have fun not watching this series then. As you're clearly not very enthousiastic yourself.

It's not that I don't want to watch it. It's that I just don't like people that act like this

I'll have to agree with just about everyone. I'm very excited for this show to be released and yes it does have some large shoes to fill. But the writing team delivered some decent plot twists in the first series. Despite Korra only knowing 3 out of 4 elements, they (the writers) will still be able to stretch it into an in depth and entertaining story.

You don't need to worry about #2 since, if I recall correctly, none of the major characters from the previous series are alive.
70 years is past and not even one of the original cast is still alive? Correct me if I'm wrong but they were all Teenagers right? At least ONE of them should still be alive and kicking (Besides Appa). Damn.

Still, the show looks decent. I'll probably watch it at least once.
Some of them would be nearing 90 years old, which is still pretty old. Even if any of them are alive, I don't think they would be making a huge impact since it's a whole new group of people to focus on.

Still freaking psyched. Avatar: The Last Airbender is, in my opinion, the greatest show ever made.
YOUR OPINION IS WRONG!!!111one11!1!!! /joke I don't know about best ever (that would be the 'my opinion' part), but I'd say it's easily the best animated series of the last decade (maybe a little more). It's like the general consensus of Portal: Painfully short, but it doesn't pad itself unnecessarily, and spends its short time being damn near flawless.

Somebody rip a few chronotons out of the universe, I want the complete blu-ray Flying Bison Edition of this NOW!!

It's interesting how these relate to history, besides the themes looking at the Industrial Revolution and Roaring 1920s.

In Avatar: The Last Airbender, the Fire Nation was a "master race" that wreaked genocide against their supposed greatest threats (Airbenders). They had conquered a large landmass before the heroes took them down. Therefore, the Fire Nation soldiers are that world's Nazis.

In Legend of Korra, the Equalists wish for everyone to be equally as productive (with a few people in complete control), which goes against the established society of the heroes. The Equalists use drastic, yet not overtly aggressive measures to further their goal with the help of spies. Therefore, the Equalists are that world's Soviet Communists.
