Good.

The best time to leave a franchise is at it's peak, something the American film and TV industry has never learned.

Always finish on a high, never let your creation drag on. It's why Scrubs should have died several series before it did, and why the current series of House MD is Hugh Laurie's last.
Wait, so this is the last season of House because Hugh Laurie is quitting? Where did you learn this, I want to know more.

OT: I'm glad that there will only be three Batman movies in the Nolan-Bale team-up.

Does this mean we can end this unnecessary gritty direction and make Batman fun again?
I say we cast Jason Bateman as Batman, then he can flub all his lines and say "I'm Bateman!"
Or maybe Bader can go from voicing Batman to being Batman...
*Sigh* I can only dream...
It seems the general public disagrees with me though...
Oh ma gawd... that may have been the greatest thing ive ever seen...

Also, thank gawd Bales gone, I never liked him or his gargly voice. I mean he was alright, when it came to the action, the voice was just abit jarring.

Well, I'm not very knowledgeable of the subject so I may be wrong.

From what I've heard, Hugh Laurie is retiring after this series of House.

And wanted to see Nolan's take on Robin eventually.
I was kinda hoping his interpretation would be "he never existed."
I think he could have done a good take on Robin if he used Jason Todd as Robin.
You mean the Robin nobody liked?
The vote to kill him off was only won by a small margin so he must have had a fair share of fans.

That's what what I'm thinking, but if you read enough comics with Jason Todd in it, you know that dude is going to have to die just because Jason has always been written as annoying little shit.

What would have been cool to see is Robin showing up throughout the trilogy enough to the point where Batman eventually tells him to fuck off and then the Red Hood shows, shit-house crazy on killing Batman.

A boy can dream
I think they could have Jason Todd as a character if they made his worse traits part of his character arc, with Batman unsure of how to deal with him at first and having to learn to take on the new role of raising Robin and both of them growing in terms of personality by the end of the movie.

So is this for real, or is this like one of the many times Mark Hamil was done voicing the Joker? :p

I hope this 3rd film will be interesting like the second one and not boring as all hell like the first one, though.

Also, hurray for the end of Bale's awful Batman voice.

Bale/Nolan is going to be a hard act to follow, but I can't fault either for quitting while they're ahead. ('Course, I haven't seen Dark Knight Rises yet... I'm hoping they're quitting while they're ahead.)

What I do think is clear is that to make good Batman movies you need strong personalities with a clear vision of what they want to do with the character(s) and setting. Otherwise, you end up with little more than a factory-assembled medium for toys and Happy Meals. And I'm sorry to say it, but if they're trying to build up a Justice League, it's a real concern we're going to end up with a bland, family-friendly Batman who fits neatly into a slot.

What are you talking about? I never heard a thing about it being the last House season.

Overall, I think I liked the Burton films a bit more than the Nolan ones. Also, Kevin Conroy was my favorite Batman. As for a Reboot...let's hope the costume isn't CG. Hopefully we'll see someone like Hush as the next movie villain or, someone else who hasn't had much/any screen time like Clayface or, Killer Croc.

edit: That producer credit Burton has on Forever and &Robin always throw me off. Fun fact: Batman Returns was my very first in-theater movie! At the adorable age of 4, me my Mom and, my Dad went to see it in a theater I couldn't possibly remember. I remember having my eyes covered during what I think was the nose-biting scene. Funny post-movie fact, when we left there was a theatrical, teaser poster up in the theater (I remember which theater it is now!) teasing The Nightmare Before Christmas. The funny part was my Mom thinking out loud that I would probably be too young to see it after having just watched Batman Returns!

It's in no way 100% proof he's quitting, but it doesn't look good.

I like the Cracked article "Prestige" theory that
Batman dies and someone new rises to become the new Dark Knight.
What I like about no 4th Batman is that Bale's voice drives me up the damn wall. It's not scary or threatening, man, it sounds like you need a cough drop. All it takes to figure out who's Batman is a game of having everybody at a millionaire's party talk like chain smokers.

I sincerely hope that they tone it down at least a little bit for this one because it's plain grating.

...more rumors point at Warner Bros. rebooting the character so the company can make another stab at laying the groundwork for Justice League film franchise, in spite of the colossal failure that was Green Lantern.
Foolish foolish Warner Bros.
Do they really want to piss all over the new Batman movies just to try to salvage the train wreck that was the Justice League movie lead-in? Just to compete with The Avengers?

Those Batman movies are going to have to at least compare favorably to the recent Nolan movies, and I just don't see that happening (given how sacred The Dark Knight is to fans even now).

Besides, I don't see them coming anywhere close to competing with The Avengers movie now.
Too little. Too late.

Burton only directed Batman and Batman Returns, and had minimal involvement with Batman Forever ("According to an interview with Janet Scott Batchler, Burton's only involvement as producer with Batman Forever was approving Schumacher as director and Lee and Janet Scott Batchler as the writers. Burton did not contribute story ideas.") and no involvement whatsoever with Batman and Robin.

OT: I can't believe the amount of hate Bale's "Batman Voice" has been getting in this thread (eh, that's a lie), but I can honestly say it never really bothered me. For the sake of not repeating "Old news" ad nauseum, I wish Kevin Conroy/Mark Hamill had done a live-action Batman/Joker film. I suppose I'll just have to live with Arkham Asylum/Arkham City and the Animated Series.

EDIT: Also, it makes me laugh whenever people bash on Batman and Robin for how campy it was and how bad the puns were and then don't even mention Adam West's Batman.
