Good.

The best time to leave a franchise is at it's peak, something the American film and TV industry has never learned.

Always finish on a high, never let your creation drag on. It's why Scrubs should have died several series before it did, and why the current series of House MD is Hugh Laurie's last.
What are you talking about? I never heard a thing about it being the last House season.

Overall, I think I liked the Burton films a bit more than the Nolan ones. Also, Kevin Conroy was my favorite Batman. As for a Reboot...let's hope the costume isn't CG. Hopefully we'll see someone like Hush as the next movie villain or, someone else who hasn't had much/any screen time like Clayface or, Killer Croc.

edit: That producer credit Burton has on Forever and &Robin always throw me off. Fun fact: Batman Returns was my very first in-theater movie! At the adorable age of 4, me my Mom and, my Dad went to see it in a theater I couldn't possibly remember. I remember having my eyes covered during what I think was the nose-biting scene. Funny post-movie fact, when we left there was a theatrical, teaser poster up in the theater (I remember which theater it is now!) teasing The Nightmare Before Christmas. The funny part was my Mom thinking out loud that I would probably be too young to see it after having just watched Batman Returns!

It's in no way 100% proof he's quitting, but it doesn't look good.

I like the Cracked article "Prestige" theory that
Batman dies and someone new rises to become the new Dark Knight.
What I like about no 4th Batman is that Bale's voice drives me up the damn wall. It's not scary or threatening, man, it sounds like you need a cough drop. All it takes to figure out who's Batman is a game of having everybody at a millionaire's party talk like chain smokers.

I sincerely hope that they tone it down at least a little bit for this one because it's plain grating.

...more rumors point at Warner Bros. rebooting the character so the company can make another stab at laying the groundwork for Justice League film franchise, in spite of the colossal failure that was Green Lantern.
Foolish foolish Warner Bros.
Do they really want to piss all over the new Batman movies just to try to salvage the train wreck that was the Justice League movie lead-in? Just to compete with The Avengers?

Those Batman movies are going to have to at least compare favorably to the recent Nolan movies, and I just don't see that happening (given how sacred The Dark Knight is to fans even now).

Besides, I don't see them coming anywhere close to competing with The Avengers movie now.
Too little. Too late.

Burton only directed Batman and Batman Returns, and had minimal involvement with Batman Forever ("According to an interview with Janet Scott Batchler, Burton's only involvement as producer with Batman Forever was approving Schumacher as director and Lee and Janet Scott Batchler as the writers. Burton did not contribute story ideas.") and no involvement whatsoever with Batman and Robin.

OT: I can't believe the amount of hate Bale's "Batman Voice" has been getting in this thread (eh, that's a lie), but I can honestly say it never really bothered me. For the sake of not repeating "Old news" ad nauseum, I wish Kevin Conroy/Mark Hamill had done a live-action Batman/Joker film. I suppose I'll just have to live with Arkham Asylum/Arkham City and the Animated Series.

EDIT: Also, it makes me laugh whenever people bash on Batman and Robin for how campy it was and how bad the puns were and then don't even mention Adam West's Batman.

shame, but i dont blame them. at least they know when to stop. im sure the last batman movie will be good. so far, nolan never disappoints with his movies. at least these movies i have seen were really good. inception is still the best.

These people need to quit trying to force DC characters. They made maybe one good character/series EVER and that was Batman plus his attendant villains. Trying to force all these other characters into things is just going to cock up what little they have.

The title is a bit misleading since didn't Bale and nolan only sign on for a 3 batman films contract? Since they've fullfilled their contract and not renewing is hardly resigning.

As with the nolan vs burton versions of Batman films, I think generally the Burton batman fans grew up watching Batman and Batman returns, whereas nolan group prob seen batman begins first, so its hard for one group to convince the other that theirs are better since their standard of Batman film was either Batman or Batman begins which were both great films. In my mind Batman returns was my favourite one of them all.

Prob a good thing, Bale's larynx could never take a fourth film of that ridiculous Batman voice.
There we go. I was about to say, I really hated how ridiculous that voice was.

Meh, can't say I'm too chocked up. I never really liked Bale as Batman (I've never really liked Bale in anything now that I think of it) He made an okay-ish Bruce Wayne though.

I think the Nolan Batman's are okay... they have great stories and casts. They're good movies.

But, to me, they're not good BATMAN movies. They don't have that "magic" I've loved about the character. The darkness, the gothic vibe, the sense of humanity struggling against monsters and supernatural denizens...

Michael Keaton NAILED it. He even asked them to remove most of his dialogue because he said "Batman doesn't make speeches". He was dark, quiet, mysterious, and more intimidating with a whisper than Bale ever was growling.

And, well, even IF you like the new movies, Danny Elfman's score is just jaw-droppingly timeless, iconic, and THE definitive Batman theme.

This isn't really news, considering that Nolan said that he was only going to make 3 batman films.

As for the burton Vs nolan argument i actually preferred Batman as a character that was still grounded by a small bit of reality. and time burton isn't what i would call someone who makes films grounded in reality.

While I've enjoyed the Christopher Nolan take on Batman I'm glad someone is bucking the Hollywood trend of run a film series into the ground. If cartoon superheroes have taught us anything it's that as sad as it is to let an old series go you have to end at some point to try new things. Loved Batman the Animated series but if it never ended Aquaman never would have had his moments to shine in Batman The Brave and The Bold.

Ouch plus look at all the bad 4th films out there when Hollywood decided to keep the same continuity instead of just rebooting. Batman and Robin, Alien Resurrection, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Better to just go three good films and start over.

(but we can all agree that those Batman movies weren't nearly as good as <a href=http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Begins-Blu-ray-Christian-Bale/dp/B000PC6A3E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322515119&sr=8-1>Batman Begins and <a href=http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Knight-BD-Live-Blu-ray/dp/B001GZ6QEC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322515130&sr=8-1>The Dark Knight).
No we can't. Yes, Dark Knight probably the best of the lot, but the original Batman is so much better than Batman Begins. And I liked Batman Begins.
