Oh right 6 year olds should know all about sex, drugs and rock and roll. C'mon there is a place and a time to have the talk. It shouldn't be forced upon a parent by a video game that didn't warn them. It has nothing to do with the parent's "homophobic" or "non homophobic" views. And why is it that if anyone disagrees with the gay lifestyle they are automatically homophobic? Why is it they are entitled to thier feelings but those who disagree aren't? Oh I don't want to explain homosexuality to my 6 year old. That must mean I am anti gay. Oh I also don't want to talk about the birds and the bees with her either. I guess that means I am anti procreation as well.
I'm sorry, that's not what I meant to insinuate. And honestly, I didn't even consider the fact that kids younger than 10 would even be interested in playing something like Life. I realize that sounded more hostile than I meant it to...

'Respectful review' My ass. She probably used as many insults and homophobic statements as possible.

Kids are NOT (all) dumbasses. They can, for the most part, handle the truth.

Then again, these are uptight Christian house wives... Guess my argument is invalid, then.

See I wouldn't think kids older than 10 would be interested. I know I gave up games like that by the time I was 10. Moved on to real games lol. I can't believe that there wasn't an option to turn it on or off. Especially knowing how touchy this subject is. If the gay community wouldn't get upset with that. Since the option could be used against them by saying it is encouraging homophobia to have an option like that.

Paul talked about men "not ought to lie with men as a man does with a woman" or some such. Technically, I don't remember Jesus ever mentioning it. It was Paul, if I'm not mistaken.

Either way, though, this whole issue isn't even ABOUT homosexuality... It's about perceived homosexuality in an old board game. No need to start up a religious debate off of this one, just write it off to the stupidity of one moron parent.

Don't judge me based on the actions of somebody I've never met who claims to represent my faith. If there's one thing we don't need another of here, it's a religious flaming thread. I'm going to laugh at her idiocy and move on.
Paul said "And Man shall not lay with Man, as he would lay with a woman...", which, to my eyes, leaves a variety of other positions available. Doggy, spooning, Jackhammer, whatever turns your crank, I suppose. As far as the 'no sex without intention of procreation', I'm struggling to recall if it was considered a cardinal sin to have sex for fun, since it could be construed as either Lust or Gluttony, depending on your point of view. It's also potentially be a venal sin, under the pretense of Fornication, but I think that specifically requires that you NOT be married at all.

Other than that, God did wipe Sodom off the map, like a unwanted booger, for the 'wanton, sinful lives that they permitted within the town' (not a direct quote), so I suppose most Christians use that as evidence that God hates Fags. Let's remember, though, than God killed Onan for pulling out and busting his nut on the ground, rather than succesfully impregnating this widow of his recently deceased brother. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onan

I still wonder about this whole 'Homosexual Agenda' thing that the right-wing fundamentalist Christian groups keep yammering about. What exactly does it entail? Are they trying to make men wear pastels, talk with a breathy lisp, and watch HGTV? Will women have to wear checkered chambray shirts, ride Harleys and stop shaving their legs? If it's just a matter of wanting to prevent gay marriage, I'm really confused, because I'd have thought they'd want EVERYONE to be miserable (married).

It'd even help the tax base, since child-less couples pay more in taxes than those with children, right?
I think the "Gay Agenda" that's mentioned is supposed to be some kind of movement to make being gay something people *have* to agree with or be publicly shamed, rather than letting people form their own opinions on the subject. That's my perception of that.

And your comments about "not laying with man" constitutes mere semantics. It's pretty obvious it refers to any form of sex. The issue of the Seven Deadly Sins or "types" of sin is a Catholic thing. It has no basis in Christianity. In Christianity, every sin is equally as bad, since they all land you in Hell. Some are more socially acceptable (even to Christians), but religiously-speaking, they're all at the same level of severity.

But really, you're giving this WAY too much thought. None of this is relevant to the actual issue of one lady misinterpreting choice in a game as some kind of social commentary, which it was not. She needs to shut up and go play a different game if her kid can't handle that one.

Didn't they attack the "Gay Agenda" of Spongebob too? I think they take this a little too seriously. It comes off as really homophobic.

I'm going to put this article in the "Reasons Why I Hate People" folder in my bookmarks.

Was being the key word in that sentence. Now that it's gotten necroed, we're left with another four pages of people insulting all forms of religion, Christianity in particular, again.

When people spoke out about games like RE4/RE5 being "racist" people laughed/no one cared. But because there are Christians involved in this, everyone wants them to burn and the opinions of a some gets labeled as the opinions of every Christian who has ever lived.

"Christians Attack "Gay Agenda" in PC Game"?

The article itself says this was ONE woman who posted on ONE website.

How is this suddenly all of Christianity? I'm sure if I called on of my friends who is a Christian he wouldn't know what the hell this is.

Well fellow friends think of it this way, from this woman's perspective, this is a child's game ONLY, and she was just embarrassed about answering all of her daughter's questions. Isn't that what being a parent is all about? If you cannot deal with your child's questions, then DON'T HAVE THEM. That sounds horrible I know, but don't risk screwing up your child's psyche by not answering some of the more important questions, which is a turning point for the better in many children lives.

Okay, this is going a little off the deep end, now isn't it? A mother gets a game that is just a copy-paste from a board game from the 60's and decides she hates one feature from said classic game? Well, it's her kids and her household, and I'm not one to go around criticizing someone else's life, but all I have to say is that living in a household like that can be very stifling.
the problem is it is causing a 6 year old girl to start asking questions that she shouldn't be asking. The mother wasn't ready and was probably hoping she could have had a little more time before it was brought up. There's nothing wrong with finding a problem with this. It's basically like a kids game that uses the F-bomb

It's a FUCKING BOARD GAME! Are you serious? If there is gay ANYWHERE in this world then ultra-conservatives go up in arms about this. Christ, has this woman even SEEN Bruno?

Ah, homophobia. The forbidden fear. So long have men and women alike struggled to hide their secret feelings, persecuted by those whose opinions differ from them. There was a period, long ago, when such people were allowed to flourish. And though they survive in the modern day, they are often reviled for their strange way of thinking.

Stupidity is not mutually exclusive to (with?) anything else, due to its multi-purpose nature. Just as there are various intelligences, there are also various stupidities. The mother in said article is stupid because she lacks a solid understanding of what the game is about. The game is called life. In life, you can choose to do anything you imagine. You can choose to jump off a cliff, you can choose to kill people, and you can choose to mutually sexually stimulate someone whose reproductive organs are similar to your own. It is the consequences that prevent us from doing so; of the examples given, the former is a physical consequence (you go splat) and the latter two are primarily societal.

I'm always somewhat taken aback by what people consider offensive. Sex is reproduction, violence is essential, and drugs are plants or byproducts thereof. The world is a place where a lot of things happen all the time. Being offended by things is a sign of complacency, something which I dislike yet am entranced by.

I would have thought the ellipse was the key part as it was a discussion on the news story but then went off without people actually reading it.

It was a Christian website. And some people on it attacked it. Therefore, Christians. If I'd meant everyone who believed in Christ I'd have put a far wackier title on it. :)
