Godammit, I hope her daughter turns out to be gay.

I would take offence to all these anti-christianity comments, but that would make me as bad a this woman. I should, however, take photos of myself reading the Origin of Species and post it on a Conservative Christian image board.

I think I have to agree with the mother, you don't want to get kids all confused with gay marriage
You're kidding, right? And what do you mean, "confused"? Do think kids are gonna start having second thoughts about their own sexuality because a game says that there are more "options"?
sorry that may have not been worded properly, what I meant to say is that little kids shouldn't have to worry about big issues such as gay marriage, I don't think this was a "attack on the gay agenda" but more of a defense of kids from having to worry about stuff like that

People can shield their kids from the real world all they want, but come 16 the kids will make their own choices. The more you try to protect a child from EVERYTHING, the more they will want to explore when they can do so for themselves, which can lead to problems.
I'm just going to answer the first quote with the second. I think I've made my point (or at least had someone else do it for me).

After reading the article I had a lot of fun imagining a shadowy society of gay people all talking in whispered tones in locked board rooms about how their 'agenda' is ready for 'phase two' implementation.

Just thought I'd comment again after reading some of the other posts. Personally I don't think Christianity often helps in terms of combatting homophobia (although I do actually know some gay Christians who lead uphill battles in their lives in that regard), because really it's about the homophobia, regardless of your religion or lack thereof.

I'm not religious myself, but I've met plenty of homophobic people who aren't religious either. I don't think this whole discussion needs to be centred around a this lady's Christian outlook, but rather around the bigotry and fear in general.

Non-religious people are often prejudiced jerks too.

You know, the title of your article is rather inaccurate. It should read "Christian (singular) attacks blah de blah". Just because this particular Christian is a homophobe doesn't mean they all should be included.

EDIT: On reflection, I fail to see how her faith matters at all.

"You know how kids are," said the unnamed mother. "My daughter noticed right away (even before I did) and clicked on one of the girls instead of one of the men and then asked, 'Mom, how come I can marry a woman?' And then that led into a lot more questions that, quite frankly, I was not ready to talk to my 6-year-old about."
Whats so complicated to say "Cause you can sweetie, now play!".
Exactly, the mother's whole reaction to this event is going to make her daughter think that homosexuality is a bad and undesireable in today's society.

Christians thinking something homosexual is ruining the lives of their children and going to turn them gay?! What is this world coming to?

/sarcasm off

Really, just talk to your child a little bit, not in any kind of detail, but enough to get your basic point across. Then leave any notions of "a gay agenda" in your own mind to fester.

Quick check back Dramus, the referrer you speak of was to the website and those concerned rather than just the woman. WMD have also condemned the game:
"Your guidelines ask us to 'keep your language safe for the kids,' yet here's a game where children may choose homosexual marriage and child-rearing," WND wrote. "Many sections of society accept this as normative, but many also would consider this too mature a theme for children. Others would consider this downright offensive. Is it appropriate to include, for example, lesbianism in this game?"
Her religion doesn't count, but the combined site does. A quick scroll down their report [http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=91291] reveals exactly how they percieve the "homosexual agenda".

So first, she mentioned it as a small problem, now she see's their response as a part of an "insidious agenda," and even makes herself as the one to sympathize. Uh-huh. Leaving out much?
What do they think anyway, that you can't have your kids exposed to sex or homosexuality? It's gonna make them gay or perverse? Nice way to follow misguided, unfounded beliefs.
Also that chestnut of "my 6-year-old" found it is just so overused. You're a "concerned mother," so we all know you over-examine everything digital before your kid gets to even touch it. Saying your child stumbled upon it innocently is the cheapest trick to make something seem even more nefarious.

I can't think of a reply that wouldn't get me banned, so I'm going to try and be civil.

If you want to be Christian, whatever. Don't pull that on us, I don't want to know. On behalf of mostly everyone I know, they don't care. Don't make your kids like you, because they'll live a crap life.

EA needs to design a game, about zombies, pirates, ninjas, and evil drug companies, with the protagonist named "Thrasher Gay". Have it be the bloodiest, goriest, most violently offensive game ever, and then call it "The Gay Agenda".

I would TOTALLY support "The Gay Agenda".

I never really understood why people call Christians homophobic. We don't like homosexuality, therefore, we're afraid of it, apparently. This is a great example of how liberals destroy any voice that America has.

Well the lady is entitled to her opinion, that's free speech...
I think she mistook her purchase for "The Game Of Good Christian Life." If the game was in any way accurate, gay marriage would be the least of Life's obstacles.
Parents shouldn't fear a child's curiosity, it's when you fail to discuss something that they go hunting in search of their own answers, right? :)

It's times like this I'm seriously considering going Buddhist.
Umm you are aware that homosexuality is taboo in Buddhism too? By Buddhism I mean actual Buddhism, not hippie-believe-what-you-want Buddhism. They just aren't as vocal about it.
. . .
No.

Show me a line where it prohibits same sex relationships, hell, even mentions same sex relationships?

You might be referring to the path of right actions or right mindset, but those are heavily up to interpretation, and Buddhism focuses on giving up material desire and achieving benevolence, and since relationships don't actually touch on either of those, I'm forced into believing you know nothing about what you're talking about.

Isn't that what you just did?
