Seriously, it irritates me how a couple random churches do stupid crap like this and make the majority of us Christians look like ignorant and over-sensitive morons. But I think what irritates me more is how everyone seems to see this and think it represents the majority of Christians...

It doesn't.

And see, herein lies the flaw in their argument--and the reason you find yourself so irritated by them. "...more Christians making the rest of us look bad," you say. In what way, might I ask, are they like Jesus? In what fashion do they spread His gospel? How exactly do they behave in a manner that might be vaguely described as "Christ-like"? Because, after all, isn't that what "Christian" means?

If you don't reflect Jesus in every word, thought, action and deed, then you can't call yourself Christian. Not really. Religious, certainly...possibly an asshat. But not Christian. Stop thinking of the f**khats out of Westboro as Christian, and they won't bother you so much anymore.

Personally, I'm an atheist and I'd really like to nuke the f**kers from orbit. (Only way to be sure, don'tchaknow.)

As an aside: Wasn't there a truly awesome quote from Batman somewhere...Public Enemies or somesuch? Made reference to Superman's possessing the power of a god...and thank heaven it hadn't occurred to him.

you don't have to live in California to mess with Westboros. they started in Topeka Kansas, and that's only a few cities away. They protested at my school. they wouldn't let us go near them though, and there ended up being more cops than protesters.
