Clarification needed: Why do women LOVE Twilight?

The series is based around teenage sexual insecurity.

Edward really, really, really wants to fuck Bella. This makes him an appealing character for people who are worried attracting men: an Edward will always love you, and you don't have to worry about trying to be smart or pretty or interesting or confident or treating him well.

But Edward is continuously exercising a massive amount of self-control over his obsessive lust, always worried about "hurting" her and whatever. This makes him an appealing character for people who are also worried about what to actually do in a relationship: an Edward will never truly ask anything from you, he'll never encourage you to have sex, he'll never do anything but comply with your desires. He's a harmless male because he's psychologically chained up.

So, there you go: Edward is a "perfect" fictional male for a particular kind of sexually insecure teen. Of course, if you don't share Meyer's mindset, he's just a creepy douche.

In another universe, one in which Meyer was a very talented writer and was doing more than just putting her own fantasies down on paper uncritically, there could be some kind of very interesting creepy D/S emotional abuse thing going on between the protagonists.

Crap boring film, crap boring books, and the actor they cast for "Edward Cullen" isn't even good looking, he looks weird.
But his skin sparkles like diamonds in the sunlight and he smells like a cross between hyacinth's and lilacs! He's just sooooo dreaaammyyy... /swoons

No, in the end you get the plain drama-queen with the uninteresting personality and no desires of her own who will be a source of constant troubles between you and your extended family.

You don't sneak into your girlfriend's room at night and watch her while she's sleeping do you? Because that's just creepy.

I don't think all women love Twilight. A lot of women do like Twilight but there are some who don't like it.

Because no one knows it, but all women love movies where the scripts are stolen paragraphs from online goth fan fiction sites. i was dragged there by my friend, who was a girl, and i had to watch this cinematic train wreck. when mr. gorgeous or edward or w/e his name says, AND I QUOTE, "and so the lion fell in love with the lamb," i literally stood up, threw my arms in the air and yelled 'time!'. i promptly left for a cigarette.

But little preteens these days will emulate and adore whatever they're told is the flavor of the month is. this time its twilight and it's dark, brooding romance of conflicting characters. -i had to think what they would say- it used to be bratz dolls, and frankly i take this over that. but to answer the question, it's because our youth are as moldable as fresh playdoh; you can move them and make them the way you want, and if you screw up, smash them and try again with something different.

amirite?

It's basically porno to all the girls I've ever met and I've read the book; it's not that good, the characters are unlikable, the vampires not actual vampires, and not to mention the many instances of me getting slapped on the back of the head because of fangirls saying such things, it is, all in all, just a huge sex appeal dealie for girls who still need to nurture that schizophrenic, self-conscience, fourteen-year-old twats inside of them, who are constantly telling them that it is extremely arousing to fall in love with a dressed up syringe.

Also, I actually DIDN'T read the whole thing, but rather the first two chapters, but if they were anything like the other ones, I don't think I'll ever pick up the book again. There's just no reason to.

Your style of writing and comedy remind me a lot of Yahtzee's, though clever, i dislike it.

My English teacher goes on about how great twilight is every day. seriously, WTF!? I would think an English teacher would have taste in literature, but no. No wonder my education is failing me.

My friends who like it are the ones obsessed with America.
"Like, omg, I called my mom on my cell and asked for some sneakers!"

I'll ask them, but I think they'd try to get me into it.

The answer to this thread: I have NO fucking idea... and I am a female. Okay, well, a friend and I did formulate one.

People who read the books want a high off of an imaginary perfect world that can never happen. Doesn't matter how shitty the book is as long as it has sappy, perfect romance (complete with perfect sex [see Breaking Dawn]). This is why the romance section is always so big in book stores (along with the 'self help' and 'diet' sections).

... And I'd take Alucard over Edward any day of the week because at least he isn't a 2D sparkly fucking vampire!

You know it's hilarious that Ryan Patton and ... whoever does Bella, REALLY want out of their contracts, They hate the books! They didn't know what they signed on for!

Also, Syfy (Sci-Fi... uh you know) Want to make a Twilight Anime.

Yeah.

I'll let that sit in peoples minds.
Further alienating the network's fans. Also, I now hate you for implanting that idea in my head box.

Because Twilight is the ultimate fanfic
Makes sense, it does appear to be written by a somewhat literate twelve-year old.

I have an obsession with reading a series through to the very end, and this is the ONE SERIES I could not finish. Out of the hundreds and hundreds of books I've read, this is the one.

At least the werewolves don't sparkle too, or we'd have a problem.
I feel sorry for you if you pick up the Eragon series then
I did. And I feel sorry for me, too. :/
