Classes or races you don't play as in RPGs

Hm... I haven't played an RPG in a while. But first answer is any of those races that don't have the female gender. As a female player, I prefer playing female whenever I could. Fighting games, I only played with the chicks. So yeah, if there's a race where you can't pick a chick, they're not an option.

As for classes... I dunno. My choice is usually impulsive. So I don't think I have a class I don't play.

For me, I view Rogues as cowards and thieves. And I tend to play more rule-abiding people. I also like to be more "up front" with power. Stelth has its bonuses, but it seems unfair not to give your foe a fair chance to fight back (Except if they greatly outmach you and are evil)
I think that's a bit harsh. I don't know who you have been playing with but rogues aren't built to be cowards. Thieves yes, what's the point of maxing out stealth if you can't steal stuff.

Besides they aren't overpowered either. Most of their good attack damage comes out of catching people off guard or flanking an opponent. If it's 1v1 or anything that isn't a humanoid creature rogues suck.

Rogues are typically chaotic neutral, for good reason. They live life to the fullest, free. They do what they want because being told what to do is boring.

I generally refuse to play any RPG as human. I play one in real life, RPGs are my way of forgetting I have a lame race.

You're not likely to find me playing a human. Why would I want to play as a human? I am surrounded by boring humans all day long, damn it! Thanks, but I'll pass. Give me something with oddly coloured skin - preferably blue, purple, grey or jet black. And bonus points if it's got horns. Everything is better with horns.

As for classes? I'll try anything at least once (I tend to prefer ranged, though).

I'll just make it easier instead of saying what i don't play, i'll say what i do play. I'm always the tank, and always human. There thats easier than trying to list all possible classes and races.

I don't play mages. They get so bogged down and mired with rules (specifically in tabletop gaming, which I actually do more) that they'll spend more time wondering what their spells do than coming with ctual problem solving strategies. I tried doing it once, and I spent the whole time reading through the spell list.
I'm a lateral thinker. I'd rather know what I have to work with off the top of my head, and then spend my time working out how to take that and do so something not originally intended to do (i.e. I'll open chests mid combat to intentionally activate traps to catch enemies in the cross fire). Worrying about whether or not I can do something just doesn't fit my style.
Gimme my rogues. I have rules to bend.

I prefer being a rogue or mage, or a combination of the two.
Like an Arcane Trickster?
Tiefling Wizard/Rogues work best for this due to the Int and Dex bonuses.

I'm not a huge fan of the whole Chaotic Neutral alignment, as it is just as much carte blanche to act like an idiot that Lawful Good is. That and I tend to play more rule abiding characters.

In anything where I can choose my race and class, I never play an elf. Ever. Half or otherwise. When I gave WoW a shot during the WotLK era, I went horde with the friends who introduced me to the game. When I asked them what the tanking classes were, they told me Warrior, Paladin, Druid, and Death Knight.

I figured "I like protecting people and I've always been in favor of doing what's right, and I'm a big sucker for being devoted to a cause , so let's go with Paladin." I was also a fan of Taurens so I decided I wanted to be a Tauren Paladin. Was told upfront that wasn't an option. I asked them what races could be Paladin. They told me Blood Elf. I asked them who else... you can see where I'm going with this. Not even a minute later I was set on Tauren Warrior and I never looked back. I quit shortly before Cata began, but the news about new Cata race/class combos only made me more satisfied with my choice when I first started.

There's a lot of bias in my reasons for actively avoiding as much of the race/sub-races as I can, admittedly, but elves just don't do it for me, so we'll leave it at that. On the other hand, I have tried just about every class concept at least once and even surprised myself in the course of enjoying a class I did not think I would.

My replay of Origins this morning was my first time playing a nonhuman. Elf mage. every npc I've met treats elves like hot shots. They must have had a change of heart since my human play through.

I'd say Rogues or Ranger like classes.... not that i disliked them, it's just i'm not too familiar or relate that much with them...

I tend to start with melee classes (like warrior), and healer like classes (i like to help and protect others).

Rarely i choose mage like classes, mainly due to the fact of the complications of them...

I tend to try each race and class out in games, then I pick the one I enjoy most and playthrough. Each RPG makes one class more appealing then the other to me, in Dragon Age: Origins I played a Human Rogue, Dwarf Warrior, Elf Mage. Oblivion I played Mage mostly and used humans or Elfs. Mass Effect1 I played as a Sentinel which is mostly a spell caster and Vanguard (combat mage). Witcher 2 I play as a Sword Master. When I played COH/COV I used melee or control types the most. KOTOR1 I was a Guardian and KOTOR 2 I was a Watchman. Diablo 2 I was a Necromancer and Assassin. I can keep going on, but that is enough examples.

Elves of any kind.

I'm not much into fantasy RPGs or JRPGs to be honest. The only one I could really get into was Oblivion and from there, Morrowind.

As with many others, I tend to never pick a melee specialist/warrior type. In most action RPGs the melee combat never seems that advanced or is crippled by the lack of weapon variety.

I don't like mages. The combat seems to repetative and cheap. :/
The Mage class can be a tricky one to enjoy. They can be so different, depending on the game you are playing. WOW Mages bore me, but Oblivion Mages at high level were gods. COH/COV spell casters could be fun as heck.

I rarely play archers. When I'm playing something where I'm staying away from the fray i like to be a mage or a healer. Infact I tend to lean more towards playing support characters as opposed to straight up damage dealers. For some reason I particularly enjoy playing healers.

I never play squishy, squishy is bad for me. I prefer ranged and sneaky whenever available. The right amount of damage and armor for me to have lots of fun. As far as race goes, I usually skip full human.

Last table top I played was Shadowrun and she was a rigger, Amerind/Elf. I had a decker for a while but for some reason the dice hated her so they quit letting me play her and sent me back to my rigger. That decker was an ongoing joke.

Nah only Humies (human) for me.

The more factors that i try to align with myself the closer i feel to the character i created. EX: Hair color, gender, disposition, etc.

I typically play Warrior-esque classes and only go towards rouge-types during second playthroughs of games. I dont mind controlling Mage Characters, i just dont want mine to be a mage most of the time.
