Okay, finally thought one up.

Once, it was demons, devils, and dark gods evoked,
a priest was the solution, holy water and holes in the head.
Now we know from where it truly comes, we can stop it before it happens,
From things tiny it comes, from things tiny it stopped.

What is it?
Actually this one almost threw me because of the Halloween theme going about (see avatar).

But then I remembered my nurse training and I'll go for disease as my answer.
Yep, and now guess what I've been the last few days.

I guess I'm lucky that my avatar fits any holiday.

Hopefully not a hospital where they still believe Trepanning to be a viable method of curing ye olde maladies.

I live in a place, where the compass has no meaning,
And I was named after it, a world that's bright and gleaming.
Master of stealth and death, my skin is black as night.
But my most distinguished feature, is hair of purest white.

Why was my first thought Santa Claus? I'm sure that's not it.

Uh... snow? I'm just going with whatever comes to mind here.

You're actually on the right track. Particularly with black Santa.

Well, the only other things that come to mind are penguins, polar bears, and ice.

Polar bear would be right.

Although I'm a little disappointed one of your guesses wasn't Drissit Do'Udden, Santa's dark-elf helper.

I'll assume that was your next guess though ;)

Welp, the Captcha gave me a riddle idea.

It comes in brown, red, white, dark or light,
Bitter, bland, or sweet, a supreme delight.
Grows out of the ground, yet can be found,
anywhere in the world, hard, runny, or round.

Sorry, too busy getting murdered in the serial killer game :).

I'll go with alcohol

Serial killer game?

Alcohol would probably fit but not what I was going for.

Because alcohol can't be round you idiot! Well I sort of thought, you know, barrels and stuff...

Jeez. Couldn't go with something intelligent? Like *FRUIT* perhaps?

It's interesting... I play the role of punching bag. It's open to everyone, if it intrigues you. We could use some more intelligent people. From what I've seen, it usually descends into everyone pointing the finger at each other and crying Redrum.

Oh, I thought you were talking about an actual video game. These riddles are probably going to be about as interested in a forum game as I'll ever get.

Fruit isn't it either. Fruit comes in a lot more colors than brown, red, white, dark or light.

Last guess.

Well, happy to trade the odd quip with you. Helps keep the brain active and stave of dementia. At my current rate I'll get it at forty.

Sometimes I wonder if it's possible to be born with Alzheimer's disease considering how god awful my memory has always been. If I do end up getting that (unlikely, since I have no family history that I know of, though my grandfather was basically a train wreck of physical and mental problems for the entire time I knew him) I'd probably be so used to not remembering much I'd never notice.
Chocolate?
You got it. My Capthca was "MORE CHOCOLATE!" when I made up that riddle. Then and now I officially crave chocolate, but I've still only got salty snacks around.

This is an old one if I remember it correctly (I've taken a few liberties where I don't):

I'm a symbol for peace, but hold the tools for war
Those I protect, shall receive no score.
When I am empty, pain shall be felt,
When I am full, there's weight on your belt.

A... what do they call it? A scabbard?

This was one of my favourites many years back:

I have two bodies, though both join in one.
The stiller I stand, the faster I run.

What am I?

Ohhh, nice.

It was an unwritten quest from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, found in the player home in Skingrad.

Frission

Until I get thrown out.

Baldur's Gate II had a bunch of great riddles.

I have one:
Name me and so shall you break me.
