one you can "lose your step" and i losing your place, and cut but never eaten...
there are millions of things that can be cut then not eaten but cut and NEVER eaten.
i am going to go with the middle school childish answer of A FART.

Ok, here's the riddle.

Tim and Rob had just robbed a bank. While running from the cops they hid behind a roadside billboard.
"ok" Rob said, "you watch that way, and I'll pay attention to this side."
Then, after a few minutes Tim says "Rob, why are you smiling?"
How did Tim know rob was smiling if they were facing different directions?

They were facing one another, each looking over the other's shoulder.

I am a Box Without Hinges, Lock nor Lid
But within these Walls a Golden Treasure is Hid
What am I?
