Haven't gotten to college officially but I've been taking some classes now to prepare myself. I think I'm going to major in Game Art & Design since what that's what I'm interested in doing once I get out of college (Game Design).
See, I wanted to do that for a while, but I just couldn't be a game designer. I like games too much.

Mine will be MATH.

Or something artsy, like music.

But i'll probably just Major in Math, and then become a music theorist anyway.
Mr. mrpenguinismyhomeboy, you just became my friend. Not so much because of the music, but the math. I was beginning to think I was the only one interested in the subject.

And that's what I'll be studying at Georgia State University come August.

I graduated last year of an English degree, and after spending most of a year in retail and fast food, I'm considering going to UWPlatteville for CompSci or some branch of electronics engineering.

BA in Sociology from UNC Greensboro.

Someone asked how it is an "art" in an earlier post. It isn't so much art as social science. The only degrees that have BS are hard sciences.

I'm not in college yet, but I'm considering majoring in History with a minor in either Sociology or Education. Have yet to decide for sure.

FFFFFFFFFuuu!!!

I had to do Chemical and Materials, Process Engineering for my food science degree. It was absolutely horrible.
Jesus Christ, I loved materials. I love my major, with the exception of process modeling. I do not like writing PDEs to describe the various process examples they give us.

I'm pretty sure poli-sci gets a BS.

I suppose "majority of BS are hard sciences" would have been the more accurate statement.

Oopsy poopsy.

Of course, there are also several programs that can address political science. Some focus primarily on law, in which case a BS would be more appropriate. Others focus on the interpersonal and intergroup interactions inherent to political theory. Those are your BA programs. Wheeeeeeee.

Philosophy at Hunter College/CUNY

Preparation for life. Not really for a job or making any money and your friends and people at dinner parties will think you're a pretentious ass and it will almost certainly provided you with the crippling need to be the smartest person in the room all the time....but they're all just idiots who can appreciate a well-rounded body of knowledge...

*sigh*

edit: but I did minor in creative writing so I always have something to fall back on

Just nitpicking.
What's important to note is that there will be a lot more homeless people amongst the B.A. as compared to the B.S.

Now before I go put on my asbestos suit, I'd like to remind readers of something known as humour.

BA Criminology
No offense to your or those whom will/have studied Criminology, but how is it an 'Art'?

OT: I may Double Major in something dealing with computers, and possible Creative Writing. Might minor also in something with computers.
Lol, actually I'm also going for a BA in CompSci. They only offer it as a BA and not a BS, for whatever reason. It IS computer SCIENCE after all. It's pretty good so far, most of what I've done is only programming, but it has only been my freshman year, and so I'm taking data structures next fall. Basically, the first year is sort of like the kind of computer science they offer in high school, only hard core.

WOOT! I knew there were other math dorks besides the author of XKCD!

We should have a math duel. I'll probably lose though, because I'm a freshman in Algebra 2 Honors and your going to college soon.

BUT I ACCEPT ANYWAY!

Hey escapist community! I was just curious about the education of the people on here. So I have a question for anyone who feels like answering it. What did you or do you major in when you were in college? And where did you/ do you go to college?

I am an Anthropology and History Major, and I minor in classical studies. I attend the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Ill be a junior so I will still be there. I had no idea there was any else here from UIC.

Going into junior year of high school next year. I was home schooled till the beginning of the last school year so some of the work is a bit meh, but in the AP courses its alright.

Planning on majoring in engineering, then joining the peace corps. I don't plan on ever being an engineer outside of the peace corps, but that is a good enough reason to become one.
