I would prefer a female Shepard simply because male Shepard had the worst voice. I tried playing as Latin American Shepard because apparently there are no black people in space, at least none with the prestigious rank of commander, and whenever I listened out for a complete badass, I got Mr. Cubicle rambling on. He had this annoying nasal voice that didn't belong in my hero of the universe.
I've been reading strong rumours that the Bioware guys really want Matthew Fox to play Shepard and he's pretty much since Lost kept a spot clear in his schedule to do it.
He does look like him and I am a big Lost fan so it's a big win for me.

And here I thought I was the only one who thought so. My entire FemShep playthrough, I was practically begging the voice actress to show any kind of emotion. Instead, she trudged through almost every line like a soulless robot. I would have hated that playthrough, if it weren't for the hilarity of the Garrus romance option.Danzaivar said:
On topic, does anyone know what Mark Meer looks like? I mean, hell, if he could pull off the whole "heroic male lead" thing, he would be enormously preferable, as he is Commander Shepard. Barring him, Christian Bale would be a perfect Renegade Shepard (my favorite way to play).
Additionally, I'd like to just say that I think the whole idea of a Mass Effect movie is terrible. The narrative of the game was created specifically for a videogame format. The entire Mass Effect galaxy would lose so much if it were made into a movie. Think about it: even if you forsake all side missions, the game still takes about ten hoursat minimum, if you're really, really good. If you try to condense all the branching storylines, settings, dialogue, and characters from something that long into something one fifth the length, it will not work. At all.
The main reason games have been considered for translation into movie form is because their narratives are underdeveloped, and people want to see how they are as movies. Mass Effect doesn't need this, because it is already a complete, excellent story just the way it is. It will only be made worse if it is turned into a movie.

I think Nathan Fillion would make a pretty awesome Shepard, although I'd prefer it if Shepard wasn't in the movie at all
