I'm going to have to agree with that. HL2 was amazing when it came out, even after it was delayed. I still enjoy playing it from time to time because the narrative is great. I can also recognize major design flaws and point to things that should've been cut from the final game, but I don't really see a point to criticize. Sure, if one is 14 and shallow or simple enough to put the highest priority on graphics, I guess I can see why one would come down harsh on the engine in 2011.TheMann said:How does Half Life 2 qualify if it's only a single player game? Are you talking about the Church of Freeman effect? I'll admit, I love HL2. I do think it's one of the top 5 games of the 2000s. I'm very much anticipating Episode 3. And I think just it's plain fun. But you know what? There are plenty of other games I'm anticipating, there are many other franchises I love just as much or better (BioShock comes to mind). So I feel ya on the extreme fanboy-ism of that game. Also I've never tried Left 4 Dead co-op, so thanks for the heads-up. I'll have to give a go a my friends house before I buy the game.thepyrethatburns said:Half-Life 2. Oddly, the honorable mention goes to another Valve game:
Left 4 Dead. (I can still play versus but Co-Op with randoms is to be avoided like the plague.)
If you're talking about the ones on this site, then hell yes. I want Portal. I want L4D. I honestly couldn't give a shit about Half Life or, to a lesser extent TF2.Radeonx said:I'd also like to nominate many of the hardcore Valve fanboys.
If you're willing to play, I'm willing to learn. o.o I currently play LoL only, since it's a bit easier to grasp, but, I can always pick Juggernaut back up.squeekenator said:DotA. Oh god DotA. Half the games don't make it past five minutes because someone dies once and ragequits, and three quarters of the players have no idea what they're doing. Still, one eighth of the games are fantastic, so I grudgingly continue to slog through the crap in search of those few shining diamonds in the rough.
The server i play on isnt like either of those, its a dedicated creative server with excellent moderation, non intrusive gameplay mods and a maximum of i believe 20 players at a time, although we rarely have that, maybe on saturday nights. its currently in a state of survival due to the recent update, waiting for the mods to update as well. if you want to try it out go to twentymine.com although i would wait for survival to finish.Blaster395 said:Minecraft is begining to get like this, because there are two kinds of servers.
1. A nice server with a decent OP, but is ran from a laptop for two hours a day
2. An insanely powerful dedicated server with a player base of 200, but harsh, sometimes even abusive OP control freaks, a so called "Economy" that consists entirely of fixed prices, and a community that just turns the game into "Like single player, but other massive structures pop up randomly"
I am thinking of starting a server for just me and my RL friends, which would end up falling into the first category, but with 8GB RAM and Quad Core instead of a barely functional laptop.
Me and my friends have a good technique for campers (especially snipers) when we are attacking and they wont move up. Smoke grenades. And plenty of them. And covering them in tracer darts works well too.Drummie666 said:Bad Company 2.
For fucks sake people. Stop fucking camping when you're the attacking team!
agreed. When I played, people used noob like it was going out of style. had a lower level then opponent. noob. your character not focused in one skil. noob. attacking your opponent in a minigame of what you're supposed to do. noob.Brainst0rm said:RuneScape.

Don't you HATE it when people do that? But seriously. RuneScape.
A million times this. The amount of times I have joined a rush game only to find all 12 attacking players sniping is insane.Drummie666 said:Bad Company 2.

This too. At least they added that friendly one, but even on there you get people who shoot your horse and crap.rapidfire21 said:Red Dead Redemption matchmaking. I got on, "oh this is kinda cool i might get some friends on wit-" *bang* Dead.
Then the same guy followed me to each spawn and continued to kill me again and again for no reason. Logged out and in, same guy, same situation. Tried again, different guy, same situation. Tried AGAIN, yup, killed by a different random on entering the game.
