Chromehounds. Far to long to explain to anyone who didn't play it. But if you did for any length of time you know of the pain.

RE COD I quite like explosive madness, I prefer the MW2 online to black ops; the addition of better explosive damage would have vastly improved that game for those who enjoy booms. BO just seems to cater for those who want to sit and camp with assault rifles.

Also, smacktalking kids are nearly always entertaining, people who get upset by them are normally the ones who take gaming too seriously.

I'd second that. Being A big Valve Fanboy, it makes me cringe when I hear people spouting "The Cake is A Lie" or inflammatory things about how other Dev's are inferior. Gah, Bugs me to no end, it's the reason why I don't go on the Forums anymore.

Starcraft 2, I liked the original Starcraft and I got into the beta, then I realized that everybody who plays starcraft multiplayer is a douchebag with no grasp on the concept of good sportmanship, then I stopped playing. I never bought the game, thanks for saving me 60 euro, Blizz!

And now we wait for the flames to roll in.
Once you get to higher rankings, you get paired with more competent players.
And to be competent in SC2, you've got to have a few brain cells.
Which also means you meet fewer dickbags.
There's always a couple of assholes around even at the top, but that's only expected.
Hell, even I have been an asshole a few times due to bad days, numerous cheese games in a row, etc.

Bad Company 2. The days of the Beta were awesome and so were March, April and May. After that, it just went down hill. The number of whiny little kids calling for unneeded nerfs skyrocketed. I took a break around June and guess what I see when I come back around the end of July?

EVERY GUN GOT NERFED!

The M16, for example, went from being useful to barely being a gun that shoots marshmallows. I took a look at the assault rifles, the SMG's and the LMG's to see the difference from what I remembered and just shook my god damn head. It was pathetic. The whiny, cancerous little whelps had infected a great, GREAT game and made it into a glaring, zombie like shell of its former self.

I can't even stand to read the forums anymore. It's full of nothing but little kids screaming at each other for differing playstyles, their K/D, their W/L ratio's, bragging about how they're being useful by fucking with someone who's playing Recon, jumping on anyone with a differing opinion, attacking people for their gun of choice and STILL trying to get shit nerfed that doesn't fucking need to be.

It makes me depressed that a game I loved so much has been warped and twisted because Dice decided that children whining were more important than adults appreciating the game for what it was.
Screw the nefs, the recon class spam ruined BC2.

I'm not going to flame you, I'm merely going to defend StarCraft 2. For one, a lot has changed since the beta. Blizzard enforces bad sportsmanship and foul language quite a bit now. Probably, if anything it's because the competition is fierce. That being said, I've played many, many SC2 games and have never been called a "N00b or "fag" or what have you, like other online games. Usually a better opponent will just kick my teeth in and go on his/her merry way.

WOW 12 MINUTES! A NEW PERSONAL BEST :D

You have a point, but in my opinion none is worse than the starcraft 2 multiplayer. Look at CoD, You have fratdicks and angry thirteen year olds playing along with nerds and such. Annoying, but tolerable, while starcraft 2's multiplayer base is made up entirely of nerds being dickheads.
One time during the beta, I had an opponent leave the game because I couldn't tell him how many "operations per second" I could do, It was my second game.

And that's my beef with online strategy games, it's not long before the "strategy" part of the game goes out of the window and into the ground, instead you have 'how fast you can execute the first order operative' matches.

Oh, and I wasn't blaming Blizzard, I was thanking them for giving me the insight not to buy a game for nerds with self-diagnosed "mental issues".

EDIT: it comes to my attention that you may not entirely understand that I'm using the word "nerd" as a broad term for people who like things that aren't sociable, like myself. I'm not using it negatively or to insult anyone, its just what I call us.
Well, um, that's kind of harsh. Soooooo, anyone who plays Starcraft 2 is a dickhead with mental issues. Aren't you sort of doing the very thing you're accusing these people of? I will agree that if a player dumped a game because you're not sure what your actions per minute are, that is a real douche move, but I haven't experience that ... yet, anyway. The SC2 forums, on the other hand, are a different story. It's just when I think of idiots on CoD and teabaggers on Halo, it just seems much worse.

I guess this is just a personal preference thing.

Half-Life 2.

Oddly, the honorable mention goes to another Valve game:
Left 4 Dead. (I can still play versus but Co-Op with randoms is to be avoided like the plague.)
How does Half Life 2 qualify if it's only a single player game? Are you talking about the Church of Freeman effect? I'll admit, I love HL2. I do think it's one of the top 5 games of the 2000s. I'm very much anticipating Episode 3. And I think just it's plain fun. But you know what? There are plenty of other games I'm anticipating, there are many other franchises I love just as much or better (BioShock comes to mind). So I feel ya on the extreme fanboy-ism of that game. Also I've never tried Left 4 Dead co-op, so thanks for the heads-up. I'll have to give a go a my friends house before I buy the game.

I would say League of Legends.
I don't play often anymore, when I do I never play random match ups.
So many people who will rage-quit at the slightest sign that your team isn't winning. AFKing at the fountain if you insist on playing a champion other than the current Flavor of the Month. Pinning the responsibility onto you to play the vital team roles so they can play their big DPS carry. When you do play a Tank champion or Healer champion, if they ever die anywhere remotely near you, it is your fault for not doing your job.
Don't even dare look into the forums. Nothing but a torrent of:
"X Champion is OP! Nerf them!"
"X Champion got nerfed! Now it's useless!"
"This player sucked on my team! I deserve the loss to be removed!"
"The developers never listen to the community complaints!"
"That female character has cleavage! I'm offended!"
"Why to the developers keep listening to complaints?"

I'm a bit frightened to hear often that HoN and DotA are even worse, I don't plan on finding out for myself though.

Call of Duty - Campers.
Left 4 Dead - Douche bags (and the server mods are annoying, too)
Xbox 360. >_>

Elder Scrolls series. Seriously, half the people on this site treat it like a gift from God and blow expectations for it so far out of the water it is unreal when I can't even get to a non-boring part of Oblivion.

See, that's what you get for playing on Xbox. There are more significantly 8 year olds on the XBOX360 then on the pc or ps3. This is a fact, and it plagues almost all games on that console. To be fair, the ps3 can be pretty bad on weekends.

Before I get marked as a fanboy, I'd like to say that I like both consoles [nearly] equally. I just hate the Xbox community.

Left 4 Dead, especially #2. Though to be fair that game was sorta asking for it. Valve handled the balancing and bug fixes for that series (not to mention a sequel no one wanted) terribly, so most people were fairly justified in their rage

L4D possibly..

Does the community not being able to afford mics count as a problem? Like seriously, it's a tenner, it'd be okay if it was a rare occurrence but I'd say the current ratio would be about 1:4

Which is just not good.
People who rely too much on the mic are also a problem: they cover the many audio hints the game provide. If only I had a nickel for every "help help !" mic spammer that doesn't realize that yes, we already know that you're down, we're not deaf nor blind, but while he's shouting panicked, we can't hear the hunter and smoker ambushed that are waiting for you to get the guy back on his feet to attack.. :(

Any game where mics are given to people who use them for swearing loudly to show displeasure in an outcome so ummm... *counts on fingertips* everything but Battle Field* and some servers on Counter Strike

*of course there are exceptions to that

Oftentimes the League of Legends community is terrible, approximately 1-2 players (on your team of 5 total) will be players who want nothing more than to:
a) play the game for 10 minutes, instead of to its completion, and will then ruin the game in order to end it quicker,
b) Intentionally feed the opposing team (which can be as a side effect of option a), which a lot of the time is purely because they dont agree with how you are playing, aka 'why use X item, when Y Item suits my playstyle better'.
c) People who will give up on a game as soon as you start losing (which given the style of game, the balance of power will shift based on the type of characters each team has, and the portion of the game you are in).

I Kid you not, in at least every second losing game (which for people who have played a fair few games, should be about half of your games) I will get somebody who complains, or leaves, or feeds the enemy team kills, or a combination of all 3. Main advantage is that the reporting system is quite simple, and if you /ignore a player, you will be unlikely to be placed with them again, which for long term players, will grant you a degree of immunity from known game-ruiners.

That said; In terms of 'DotA' style games, HoN LoL and DotA, I find the League of Legends community on a whole to be much more sympathetic, as opposed to particularly the DotA community which seems very jaded, as if losing a game is always going to be lost by somebody who isnt playing it how it is meant to be played, or a disconnect, or some such other problem (players do not seem at all optimistic that they may get a good game).

tl;dr LoL Community is on a slippery slope due to the inherent flaws of bounty based team games, and the DotA community makes the map unplayable for me except with friends (where the community becomes irrelevant).

DotA. Oh god DotA. Half the games don't make it past five minutes because someone dies once and ragequits, and three quarters of the players have no idea what they're doing. Still, one eighth of the games are fantastic, so I grudgingly continue to slog through the crap in search of those few shining diamonds in the rough.
You should play league of legends. It's by the same guys who made DotA, and has a much better community. I personally think that league is better than DotA, so try it out!
OT: Halo. Trolls trolls trolls. I hate all them trolls.

sorry your point holds no water. you state in no way how valve fan boys ruined their games, and I assume were talking about multiplayer, other wise your just pulling stuff out of your ass because you feel like it.
