As a fairly grumpy IT guy, can I just throw out there 'Anyone who makes me leave my nice comfortable office'? Mostly that would be the staff running tills and slamming their kit about.
Yeah, I wonder how many were drama majors?generals3 said:Soccer players. "Oh no he barely touched me, lets dive and remain on the ground whining and pretending i'm hurt". Jesus... it can't get any whinier than a soccer players.

Seriously! Shit I hated those classes. They make you read the most inane, asinine things that made me want to huff glue until I forgot I had done so (It works!). Then they give you a stellar "C" because you don't think the way they do, and I didn't have time for that shit because my focus was on science.akai said:Literature teachers. Those I have dealt with always tried to force their views on the entire class and never cared about the students' interpretation.
I don't think many of them are even consciously aware that they're doing it. It's like they're conditioned to think "Oh, someone touched me in a hostile manner... AAAAARRRGH, THE PAIN!!!"generals3 said:Soccer players. "Oh no he barely touched me, lets dive and remain on the ground whining and pretending i'm hurt". This. I'm mildly interested in watching football but this just kills it for me. It's basically cheating that for some reason is allowed to just happen.generals3 said:Soccer players. I do hope there is a meaning of "shag" I am simply not aware of...delta4062 said:My Ancient History teacher. Wouldn't teach us about Alexander The Great because of her Catholic views and he had a tendency to shag some guys. This pissed me off a fair bit.

This claim needs some evidence to back it up. If a company has spent research budget developing a treatment, they will want to sell it to recoup their expenditure. It makes no sense for them to sit on it and make no money becuase they wish they could make even more.Yopaz said:OT: Not sure exactly what profession this is, but those who have power in the pharmaceutical industry are among the worst. They are deliberately keeping effective treatment options from hitting the market because they can't make as much profit from it.
Again, this assertion needs backing up, as pharmaceutical companies do not dictate dosage size, that is determined by doctors following guidelines they recieve from appropraite organisations (eg the British Pharmacological Society). High drug doses are used when lower doses aren't effective, not to generate side effects.Giving extremely high dosages that cause side effects then selling us things to treat these side effects.
Really they're no worse than any other industry. They don't really care about people, but they don't get off thier suffering either. It's an industry much like any other.Horrible industry.
Unfortunately, the best way to get into deving, is to have a decent portfolio. Start writing apps, or building websites for your mates, or try to get some practical examples of your work together so that you can show those nasty old goats what the new school is capable of and sell yourself to them! (PS. I feel your pain- it took me 10 months to get into an IT job after graduating.)Dr.Awkward said:For my region, it's the IT and programming employers here that frustrate me. It's been six months since I've graduated, and for the life of me it seems that the only way you'd get hired around here is if you're the Jesus of IT and/or programming. Seriously, just hire a bunch of college graduates and train them - The IT sector really needs to be bolstered in this location, and if they keep hiring on people who's already got a lot of experience, once these people retire for good there's going to be a difficult transition to make because since they didn't want to hire anybody new to the career, they either have to hire on fresh college students or people with rusty skills, thus taking a nosedive in performance.
Meanwhile, nepotism is alive and well in the insurance industry - They see my name, then they look me up and find my mother's name, who used to be an insurance agent. Guess who's more interested in me right now?

I hate how architects design floor plans. The rooms are so disproportionate from each other. Its obvious that you want a bigger master bedroom, but why do you intentionally make one kids room much nicer than another? Not just a little bigger closet or an extra sq. ft or two, but multiple closets, a better view and bigger in general. Have they never had siblings? Don't they think one kid is going feel awfully shitty when his older brother or sister has an intentionally better room than them?.Also, I hate floor plans that have laundry rooms in bathrooms, thats just nasty. Not to mention these homes that have over two hundred thousand dollar cost to build estimates, but don't even have a private master bath. Is it that foreign of an idea to let the person who just paid for this beast not have to share with the whole family?
Anyway I'm done bitchin' now it's your turn!
It did have a bitchin' dimmer switch for the light, though. We need more dimmer switches in the world.
OT: Business people in general that clearly don't know a fucking thing about business. For example, the National Heritage committee that, while it doesn't own the pub at which I work, for some reason is judge, jury and executioner for vital decisions. Not really sure how that works. But my grievance with them is that they're quite clearly idiots.
The pub, like many English pubs, follows an old fashioned Victorianish aesthetic. To improve loyalty to this aesthetic, they recently made it mandatory for the owner to have single glazed windows put in to replace the current double glazing. This disregards the fact we already had the double glazed windows set into old fashioned frames. They're oblivious to the fact that assuming we want to keep a comfortable level of heating in the place for customers (not to mention the owners who live above the pub) with single glazed windows, we're looking at potentially as much as a 45% increase on our heating bill. In this fucking economy.

Scum of the fucking earth, professional athletes.
This happened to me once. I had a teacher that shoved her views in our face repeatedly and then gave bad grades if you dared to write anything critical that wasn't strictly in line with what she thought she would give you a bad grade. She just chose to think you were an idiot or had not tried hard at all and thus read your paper in the most critical way possible and deliberately misunderstood things you wrote so she could mark you down.Redlin5 said:I really dislike how my English prof shoves her political views into almost all of her assignments. Yes, it should be allowed to have open discussions on politics but our essays shouldn't have to be written in order to strengthen her attitudes and arguments when we may not agree.
But... I need the credit so I keep my mouth shut. My mind however isn't going to fall for it.
