I love complicated plots, I slightly prefer good plots over gameplay for some reason. But I hate it when some of them have plot holes and such.

this...
a complicated story can be good if it's well written but if it's a vague indecipherable mess I won't even touch it...

I like it when the story is complex, but it has to be interesting with good characters. Morrowind, Tales of Symphonia, etc. were great (well, Morrowind also had a bunch of back-story and side-story bits with the Great Houses, etc.).

However, Metal Gear Solid, bleh. The story is complex but dull and delivered in massive chunks without being woven into it. The characters weren't that great personally, and I had to replay the final boss again just because I actually fell asleep during that long freaking cutscene. Then it only get's worse in the games after that!

However, I do also like the short story games like Serious Sam. I didn't care about the story there, all I wanted to do was kill stuff, and kill stuff I did :)

I was going to say that I like a simple story. One of the reasons I like the Ratchet and Clank games is because the villains always have simple reasons for being villains. Heck, Dr. Nefarious is a villain just for the sake of being one.

However, Final Fantasy XIII had one of my favourite storylines. So I guess I like stroies that are more complicated than a Rubik's Cube with some of the stickers missing.

I like a good story line, whether it be simple or complicated. Though I think someone should make a game where the story simply is, "There is a million badguys in this city, go in there and kill'em all." Just for the lols.
See Serious Sam. Well, it's not exactly what you said, but it is pretty much kill everything in sight. Then Doom. Always have Doom. *begin overly posh voice* I guess nowadays we're just too "civilized" to even consider such a story to be adequate.

I think Kingdom Hearts 2 suffered from it's over complicated story. Why am I Roxis? Whats a nobody? Why did Sora wake up in a tube? Ansem was a clone whaaat? It's supposed to be kid friendly why make it a headache?

I live complex storyline as long as they're presented clearly. Otherwise I usually just start drowning them out. I also love it when all the storylines come together in one moment of sheer awesomeness.

I usually prefer complex, engrossing stories, if they're well told.

Though a simple, mindless "those guys are bad, because they don't like you" story is fun too.

I love complicated storyline, filled with symbolism, mindfucks, and has a great atmosphere, writing, etc, etc, etc![footnote]End of Evangelion, Rebuild of Evangelion, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Silent Hill series, Half Life, System Shock 2, Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines, Bartimaeus Trilogy.[/footnote]

But sometimes It's fun to play some simple games with simple storyline.[footnote]Serious Sam, Painkiller, etc, etc, etc[/footnote]

It really depends. I've played some awesome games with good stories (BioShock, Final Fantasy VII), and other awesome games with little to no story (Painkiller, Fallout 3, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. [seriously, the story in the third is that you are a military officer sent to investigate helicopter crashes... wait... is that even a story?])
