"Console gaming is better because it just works"... still a valid argument?

Well i have been red-ringed and i can still say console is better. Sure, i love PC gaming (I just got KOTOR, Morrowind, and Torchlight again on steam) and some of my best experiences has been with it (Morrowind, Diablo, Thief).
But in the end i don't need to change my spek. I don't need to look at the bottom and think 'hmmm this game i have been waiting for for 3 years might not work'.
I don't think you are 'PC-tards' although some of you do behave elitist. I have played FPS on PC and you know what: Console is better. Sure you move round slower, but it's all in the palm of your hand.

Console: No installs, immediate updates, controller, always works, drop in-drop out without concerns, i can use my computer at the same time and multi-task.

PC: Better graphics, better turnspeed, more indie/niche games.

I usually don't get into these conversations because I tend to punch whomever has a bigger ego(the people to start the topic) in the mouth. If I've learned one thing in life, it's than violence ends useless debates. Everything has it's downfalls, it's just stupid people point out other systems problems more so over their own. The only debate I'll take up is which system has the bigger dicks playing on it. It's a toss up really, your decision between being called a racial slur, homosexual, or being picked off by a pistol with a headshot from at least 20 miles away.

Of course it isn't. I've been saying for sometime now that consoles have effectively become glorified PCs, apparently complete with the less desirable features like error messages and game crashes. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the PS3 even have a keyboard peripheral?

PC is working fine and always have.
It's not my fault that they couldn't stop themselves from browsing porn and got all the viruses.
My PC has crashed only like 5 times and that was ONLY my fault.
Consoles are not better in ANY way! It's just all about what you want from a controller and i don't want 10 buttons on my controller. I need all my F1's and enter all the letters, because they work just fine and can't be used with no problems. It's more customizable. I just counted 35 buttons that i regularly use in games, they just work. All buttons have their functions. And i don't even want to start talking about the mouse.

1. Have you ever played a PS3?
2. Steam
3. 360 controller for Windows
4. Really?!
5. As in drop in and out of online games as you wish? Yeah... because I've never gone into an online match on a 360 game, then left due to loudmouth 12 year old brats, soon followed by abusive messages claiming I'm a rage quitter
6. alt and tab

Also I'm primarily a console gamer. (See profile for gamertag and psn). I'm just getting sick of the lower standards these days. I'm also sick of the PC community being classed as elitist when the console community is just as bad.

On the contrary. I think most consoles nowadays are way ahead of the PC. If I could hook up a mouse and keyboard interface to a 360, I'd buy one in an instant. Way cheaper than getting my PC up to date for this game generation and my machine crashes almost all the time. All that's still superior to a console is the controlls.
Surprising to see a console fan who prefers the mouse-keyboard interface. That said, your feelings toward PC is fine, but in reference to what I underlined, you are provably wrong. The three consoles are completely inferior in hardware to PC's built within the last two years.

The only thing consoles have going for them is their ability to plug-and-play, but that doesn't mean the game will run how you want it. For example: Mass Effect and Gears of War are better on PC because of the tailored/improved controls and the (if you have a decent system) perfect 60fps.

That really isn't a valid argument. I just prefer console gaming because my PC is a piece of crap that can barely run Age of Empires.

Play Bayonetta on PS3 and you'll find that argument is invalid. It still comes down to developer competence on their chosen platform. With PC, it takes user competence to not complete screw their machine over and then expect it to run. A good PC developer knows how to troubleshoot issues on the PC, it's part of the territory. How much PS3 or Xbox troubleshooting do you normally have to do with a game? Not a whole lot, but the games are still bug filled, can crash, and can have performance hits. My friend's 360 crashes more than my Windows 7 computer ever has.

It's called freedom. Which has responsibility (See, Risk Management). Such as consumer responsibility to understand if it'll work on their chosen hardware/software combination or not. With standards comes rigidity, and eventually comes a monopoly. Ain't it a *****.

As With Everything, They're Both Equal With Their Flaws, But Different With Their Merits.

So you can't really say what's better when they're two completely different experiences with such a wide variety of Pros And Cons to both.

Plus the people who usually argue these things are kinda morons who enjoy the conflict.

The PS3 is compatible with PC mouses, keyboards and even laptop hard drives.
Well there ya go, that proves my point.

Ughhh.

1. Yes i have played PS3 and I loathe the controller. Also, i install many games onto my xbox for faster running.
2. I have steam. I wrote above.
3. On very few games and even less worth noting.
4. Yes it always works. Consoles crash to the same level as PC's crash. Cept PC's have the added might-not-work-with-your-spec problem
5. Who with a mind plays multiplayer?
6. Why would i want to flip between windows.

Please keep your frothing at the mouth to yourself. People like consoles, get over it.

Who gives a shit? Play whatever you have and like whatever you want. Why care what others are doing?

Nah, it's not a valid point and never really has been. The story comes from those who try to play new games on old, worn out machines and expect it to work. When it doesn't they assume that every PC bar the super-duper high-end ones must be like theirs, when in reality theirs is just poorly maintained, cheap, or old.

1. Flash games.
Also, see PS3 and Xbox options.

2. Steam, Xfire, Impulse, pretty much all games now have self-updaters anyway.

3. That's opinion.

4. Nyeh. Isn't that the point of debate in this thread? It's not really an issue, as others have said.

5. What? Of online games? That's never been a problem, you just click disconnect.

6. Alt-tab is much quicker and easier.

1. Exactly, so you just proved his point.
2. Again, you just proved his point?
3. It seems to me that every console port has controller support, but then I've never bothered with it so I can't argue this point.
4. Not really. That's like saying Xbox360 games won't work on a regular Xbox. If your PC is this generation, and the game is this generation, then it'll work.
5. Well this is just opinion again.
6. To multitask. It's much easier to press those two buttons than to get up and go to a different machine.

I have only one reason why console gaming can be better than pc gaming.

You are further away from the screen = better for the old eyeballs.

We've all seen console elitists putting down PC gamers so often on these forums. "Oh PC gamers are elitists with no lives" and such, "what tards, console gaming is better, it works with no installs or glitches or viruses"...

Can this still be a valid argument today? We've seen the millions of problems with Modern Warfare 2, we've seen things such as the bug with Assasin's Creed 1 (PS3 version) where the screen went white and the game stopped functioning, we've seen hardware problems such as the red ring and yellow light.

What are your thoughts?

P.S. Any comments aside from "omg flamebait!" "omg troll" "this wont end well" "omg PC fanboy" would be appreciated. Originality please. Thanks.
I don't have any hardware issues I cannot deal with on my PC, then again I am an adult, part of being an adult is having responsability for the things you own. If you look after your pc and understand how to use it, no problems.
