Total Annihilation's Peewee.

Is anything more demoralising than losing to a unit called a peewee?

Tie between Specters and Immortals for the best line ever. "I can taste your mind... salty." "Back in my day, I had to teleport to and from school, in the snow, uphill, both dimensions" and since Specters are just Ghosts that do tons and tons of drugs Immortals win.

I heard Homeworld 2 wasn't as good as Homeworld 1, though?
Story wise, it's not. The refugee armada trying to get home was unique and really made you connect with the Higaarans.

Homeworld 2 by contrast is your standard RTS-fare of gathering the magic mcguffin to thwart evil. And there are plot holes that the Mothership could fit through.

In terms of gameplay and graphics I actually liked Homeworld 2 better. It's just a shame the campaign was such rubbish.

Supreme Commander definatly made the best RTS units out there.
Especially their experimental units.

My first favorite is from the original Supreme Commander, the "Fatboy" mobile factory.
Four battleship cannons, anti-air placements, sheild generator, can go underwater, has two refuling stations for your air units, and can make it's own army!
Hard to kill, unless you just had more than the other guy.
Took awhile to get one built, but once that was done and you set it to work, it did everything on it's own. Simply drive it a few miles away from your enemies base to let the battleship cannons shred the first defensive line, and as that's happening you've built an army to penetrate the second line of defence as you move in...

My second favorite unit is from Supreme Commander 2.
It's the Cybrannasaurus Rex.
A robotic dinosaur with missle pods and cannons that can breathe fire? Hell yeah!

Haven't yet played Homeworld 2 unfortunately, though I have it on my desk next to me now (and at long fucking last I AM GETTING A NEW PC YEEEAAAAAHHHHH... and hopefully it'll be able to run games older than Homeworld 1). That ship looks cool. I heard Homeworld 2 wasn't as good as Homeworld 1, though?
It isn't, but it's still a great game. The Story's not up to the same standard as Homeworld 1, and for some reason they removed the ability to customise the formation of your fighters (which are produced in groups by default) which kind of bugs me. Still good fun.

Oh, and good luck with Level 12 and 13 by the way, they're hard.

Necron Warrior squad from Dawn of War. you only need reactors to build em, they can seriously damage buildings, vehicles, and infantry, and have that nasty tendancy of either teleporting away from danger, or putting themselves back together after you kill them

Krogoth from Total Annihilation. Sure it took forever to build but once you did oh man. Mass death on 2 legs. Guns on its hands, missiles on its back and a one hit kill death lazer on its head. Once it gains enough experience it can single handedly destroy an opponents base.

Starcraft 2. The archon.

There's just something about it, a massive burning entity of pure rage(assuming the fusion went correctly), that burns out like a star in a blaze of glory.{After vanquishing it's foes in waves of destruction and hanging out for at the very least five hundred years.}

Jeez, I remember them so well. They were so amazing they could beat a sports car with an instantkill missilelauncher (bigdaddy cheat code).

As for my favourite units, I have loads so here are a few....

1. 88mm cannon from company of heroes (a gun so awesome I build my army out of them)
2. My custom hero wizard from BfME2
3. Ion frigate from Homeworld
4. Monkeyload and nuclear bomber from supreme commander
5. Tau Hammerhead tank and eldar tank with prism cannon from DoW

Mine is the Mecha-Tengu from RA3. I especially liked the voice for some reason. It should be annoying...but it isn't somehow....

Titans in Tiberian Sun, Giant Squid in Red Alert 2, most of the Capital Ships in Sins of a Solar Empire (sequel? please?)

Kirov Airship wins though.

A Hermit's Cave
RTW: Spartan Hoplites, all the way (160 (or 120 in RTR) bitches of 2-hitpoint goodness)

MTW2: Swiss Pikemen (the daddy of medieval units)

DoW: Space Marines (they sound awesome with their vox voices, but without the sergeant)

NTW: Ironclad 80-gun line of battle ship (yeah, shoot all you like, you're not touching me)

(granted, the TW's aren't really RTS's, but I like 'em anyway)

Based on name, voice, efficiency (uses of the unit) and personal bias. For me it's the 'Overlord Tank' from C&C: Generals. Despite the game not being so good, this unit is pure win. It has awesome lines, can crush everything and in large enough quantities is basically unstoppable.

So what's your choice? Cast away!
Not so good? It's still one of my favourite easy RTS's. Like Age of Empires but with hackers. Although Red Alert 3 was fun..

I think my favourite unit though is still the Cybran.. That flying ship thingy in Supreme Commander. They weren't the strongest unit in the game by far, and died pretty fast. But they looked cool and in a swarm did an ok job.

Although I still like the RA3 ninjas. Oo, and the Tau Stealthsuits. Heh. They're fun

Can't believe I was ninjaed on that. But I'd have to go with the platforms in Entrenchment. Nothing like warping in to a fully upgraded Vasari mobile platform surrounded by proximity mines.
I too would enjoy a sequel, hopefully WITH A DAMN CAMPAIGN.

Homeworld ion beam frigates - on mass were the prettiest and most awesome units EVER.

Also up there are a LOT of the units from Red Alert 2 - Even like 5 years since I last saw my copy of that game I CANNOT get most of the unit quotes out of my head, especially the Tesla Trooper, Apoc tanks and Kirovs.

Honorary mention goes out to the Mavor from SupCom1 simply because it had a 5 HOUR BUILD TIME if you used a single T3 engineer. Yes it had no range limits, yes it could level any base but still!

Tough choices...

-IFV (Red Alert 2): This is a great idea in a terrible game (yes, it's fun initially, but ultimately horribly balanced, corny/cliche' to the Nth degree, and totally devoid of the mature tones of its predecessors). It's a modular transport vehicle that defaults as an anti-air unit, but can be turned into a variety of useful roles from there.

It loses a lot of usage in Yuri's revenge due to the absurdly broken nature of that game...but it's still pretty awesome all the same.

cybran ACU from sup com 2. robust, multi purpose, resiliant and sets of a nuke when it finaly goes down. not good on its own but send it in with a pair of cybransaurus and the enemy is screwed (unless its assassination and they focus fire on it, or evacuate theirs when it has 1 hp and their teammate nukes their base >.<)
