Titans in Tiberian Sun, Giant Squid in Red Alert 2, most of the Capital Ships in Sins of a Solar Empire (sequel? please?)

Kirov Airship wins though.

A Hermit's Cave
RTW: Spartan Hoplites, all the way (160 (or 120 in RTR) bitches of 2-hitpoint goodness)

MTW2: Swiss Pikemen (the daddy of medieval units)

DoW: Space Marines (they sound awesome with their vox voices, but without the sergeant)

NTW: Ironclad 80-gun line of battle ship (yeah, shoot all you like, you're not touching me)

(granted, the TW's aren't really RTS's, but I like 'em anyway)

Based on name, voice, efficiency (uses of the unit) and personal bias. For me it's the 'Overlord Tank' from C&C: Generals. Despite the game not being so good, this unit is pure win. It has awesome lines, can crush everything and in large enough quantities is basically unstoppable.

So what's your choice? Cast away!
Not so good? It's still one of my favourite easy RTS's. Like Age of Empires but with hackers. Although Red Alert 3 was fun..

I think my favourite unit though is still the Cybran.. That flying ship thingy in Supreme Commander. They weren't the strongest unit in the game by far, and died pretty fast. But they looked cool and in a swarm did an ok job.

Although I still like the RA3 ninjas. Oo, and the Tau Stealthsuits. Heh. They're fun

Can't believe I was ninjaed on that. But I'd have to go with the platforms in Entrenchment. Nothing like warping in to a fully upgraded Vasari mobile platform surrounded by proximity mines.
I too would enjoy a sequel, hopefully WITH A DAMN CAMPAIGN.

Homeworld ion beam frigates - on mass were the prettiest and most awesome units EVER.

Also up there are a LOT of the units from Red Alert 2 - Even like 5 years since I last saw my copy of that game I CANNOT get most of the unit quotes out of my head, especially the Tesla Trooper, Apoc tanks and Kirovs.

Honorary mention goes out to the Mavor from SupCom1 simply because it had a 5 HOUR BUILD TIME if you used a single T3 engineer. Yes it had no range limits, yes it could level any base but still!

Tough choices...

-IFV (Red Alert 2): This is a great idea in a terrible game (yes, it's fun initially, but ultimately horribly balanced, corny/cliche' to the Nth degree, and totally devoid of the mature tones of its predecessors). It's a modular transport vehicle that defaults as an anti-air unit, but can be turned into a variety of useful roles from there.

It loses a lot of usage in Yuri's revenge due to the absurdly broken nature of that game...but it's still pretty awesome all the same.

cybran ACU from sup com 2. robust, multi purpose, resiliant and sets of a nuke when it finaly goes down. not good on its own but send it in with a pair of cybransaurus and the enemy is screwed (unless its assassination and they focus fire on it, or evacuate theirs when it has 1 hp and their teammate nukes their base >.<)

Thors from Starcraft 2. Not exactly cheap but you only really need a few to have an almighty army.

Ooh, that's really difficult...
I guess I would vote for Earth 2150's "FANG" or KKND2's "Grim Reaper".

The first one is just elegant. It's a hover tank of alien design, it has a huge range, is pretty quick, almost invisible at night (with headlights off), its ammunition regenerates over time, as does its health, and it has a cool voice.

The second one is a former farming machine, has three huge scythes in front and a dual 12mm machine gun turret on top. It really deserves its name.

Oh, and then there's this other thing...
It's the really big ship in the following image:

This thing was basically overkill, for a few reasons:
1. It had as much health as an entire city.
2. It could fire literally halfway across the map, rapid-fire, basically without a pause.
3. It had enough attack power to cause pretty much anything it fired at to melt.
4. It did (IIRC) area damage over a wide swath of terrain on impact.

They attempted to balance it in two ways:
1. By making it cost a fortune to build,
and 2. By making it lose a fraction (1/5000 maybe) of health when it fires.

It didn't work. This thing is literally a gamewinner; you build one and you win. You build two and you steamroll the entire map. It is the single most insanely powerful unit I've ever seen in an RTS.

This is one of the most difficult threads I end up answering. So many units to choose from...

But the Grey Knight takes the title because they are even more badass than Space Marines.
This be true.
[sub]Then the Dark Templar, Baneblade, Stealth Suits, Crisis Suits, Dreadnoughts, Chaplains etc[/sub]

Quad Cannon from Generals. Basically a AA gun on the back of a truck. Brilliant at taking out infantry, aircraft, and veteran can even take on light vehicles with ease. Plus the voice, OH the voice! Sounded like a really cool arabic Bond villain with complete confidence in his, frankly, out-dated soviet tech, even against the US's lasers or F-22s, or the Chinese tank rush.

Either AT-AT's from Stars Wars Galactic Battlegrounds just becuase they're awesome. Or The Chimera's from warcraft III. If you had about 6 of those guys with the corrosive breath upgrade then you could take out a base in five minutes.
Frost Whyrms to double on that. WC3 has some pretty awesome units too :)

I find this thread's lack of Fire Warriors disappointing.
http://images2.fanpop.com/image/photos/13300000/Tau-Fire-Warriors-warhammer-40k-13365860-640-425.jpg

Really I just loved the Tau, and when I played the tabletop game they were my favorite units in that, too.

Honorable mentions to the Warcraft 3 Death Knight, Dawn of War 2 Dreadnought, Dawn of War 1 Baneblade, and ofcourse, Company of Heroes American Rifleman. They get the job done

EDIT- And ofcourse I completely forgot everything Starcraft and SupCom related. Forgive me. SC1 Flamebats were always a blast, SC2 Dark Templars and Void Rays were my favorite builds (that seldom worked...) and SupCom 1 and 2...well, the ACU's themselves, ofcourse.

The Titan in Age of Mythology: The Titans... it's just so big!

FYI, the golden statue Colossi unit used to be the biggest unit.
