Wow. Can you imagine a more beautiful way to take your own life? Euphoric, gazing out at all of creation, visible as far as your eyes can see, never worrying about whether it will hurt, because you'll have no idea it's happening, just a blissful, serene rush into oblivion. Seeing the world rush by you, as you rushed through it, coming to a quite peaceful end. Imagine happily screaming, waving your arms in the air, coming to terms with both your own mortality and the infinite beauty of things around you...and letting that be your last conscious thought. If there was ever a way to go, that would be it.

My thoughts exactly.
If this was real and I was suicidal I'd go out this way.

The promises made by medical science for the future (assuming a terminal or degenerative disease is involved)?

Nope, what we really need is to scare them with a big fuck-off drop! That'll make them realise the importance of their own mortality in the face of oblivion! Nothing says 'I want to enjoy what life I can' like 'Stop the ride, I want to get off!'

Sorry, I was trying to get you to go first. Anyway.

I originally was taking issue with the idea that once someone has committed themselves to killing themselves, there's no stopping them. That's not correct in the context of Depression, mental illness, etc. Suicide gets prevented all the time, and people recover.

But I also take issue with the idea that it's somehow better than overdosing or slitting or whatever. Sure, the rollercoaster might be more enjoyable than the alternatives, but the outcome is still the same, death.

(not that I remember what arid heights looks like anymore anyway)

Watch the coaster have like, safety warnings saying "To prevent serious injury, refrain from..." or "do not ride if you are pregnant, get motion sickness, or have heart problems."

Or there is this one ride at Universal Studios called the "Rockit" it plays music through speakers while your riding. This coaster should have that and play the Funeral March.

Ah, yes, that is true. There are many cases of suicide prevented. But for some people, it just doesn't work. Meds, counseling, whatever, they're just so opposed to the idea of living anymore that no amount of help will make them change their minds. And I think that this thing is a great idea, because it's a lot better than botching a hanging, or a wrist-slitting, or any other form of suicide, simply because of how it works. And if you were going to go, would you rather be in pain, or be so loopy from the blood loss that you didn't even care?
