What's that translate to for those of us that don't know a lick of Cyrillic?Lovely Mixture said:For anyone curious, Natalia actually responded to the art-fad and complimented it on twitter.

It's funny you mention this, because if you'd of asked me this a couple weeks ago. I would have no clue what you were talking about. Now after the "Waifu" and "Aversion to Sex" threads, I realize how anti-anime some of ze escapist really is. People actually thought we considered waifus to be our genuine wives. It's pretty alarming how low some of the escapist thinks about us.The Wykydtron said:The bravery of posting this on Teh 'Scapist though, do you know the stick anime gets whenever it gets brought up in a non strictly anime related thread? At least the author got to be super-patronizing by referring to a sovereign nation's highest legal authority (who happens to be an attractive 33-year old woman)as "a rather attractive young lady."Chemical Alia said:That is some reckless and cavalier use of the term top-notch. The only one that even resembles the actual person is a straight up copy job from a screen grab. I really don't understand the fascination, she just looks like some ordinary woman.
It's totally possible to make something in a cute/abstract/cartoon style and still achieve a likeness. A new take on something known, while maintaining the spirit of the original, that's what usually makes fanart awesome.Chaosritter said:Am I the only one who thinks this will end in a Hetalia spin-off?
Don't you know? Potraying women in an attractive or cute way is sexist beyond reason. Only putting them in burkas protects them from sexism, objectification and exploitation.Lovely Mixture said:I also don't understand how stylized interpretations of people is instantly equated to sexism and objectification.

Patronizing, that's it. Something felt weird about it, but I wasn't sure what. Not sexist, but a tad bit patronizing.Mortuorum said:At least the author got to be super-patronizing by referring to a sovereign nation's highest legal authority as "a rather attractive young lady."
Ha, I avoided those ones entirely because I just *knew* that's what was going on in there. I saw one had like 3/4 pages and nope, that's shit kicking off in there for certain. I get enough crap about me simply saying I don't really care about finding a partner (boo it's totally worth it once you slave away for a few years and get lucky) i'm not bringing fuckin' anime up as well.Elfgore said:It's funny you mention this, because if you'd of asked me this a couple weeks ago. I'd like to engage you on this topic but I'd first need to know what your definition of sexism is. My understanding is that sexism is prejudice based on sex. Denying a woman equal pay because she's a woman is prejudice based on sex. Denying a woman equal rights is prejudice based on sex. A person or people drawing cartoons of someone they find attractive isn't prejudice and so isn't sexism. Does it highlight the sexism in these online communities when someone draws "moe shit" of Hitler and Stalin? Is that also objectification?HellbirdIV said:I'm a little bit disgusted, 'cause it highlights the sexism in these online communities when a political figure who happens to be a young attractive woman gets drawn as a big-breasted anime stereotype with her boobs clearly pronounced under her uniform or even exposed cleavage. Or even worse, the Moe shit.
It's honestly rather pathetic people seem to accept "she's cute" as an excuse for objectification.
Uh, wouldn't that mean drawing tenta-Putin doing things? Mostly tentacles, though...
My bad. According to the thread it was in "Thank you for your support and creativity! No one is talking about burkas over here but you.
Yeah, sorry about that, I did at first! I edited my post and gave a better example of what I mean by maintaining a likeness while working in a stylized manner with pictures because it's harder to explain with words.Lovely Mixture said:Are confusing your reply?
He's referring to another poster I quoted to, not you. As for the likeness, how much you see of the original in the abstract is kind of arbitrary to an extent.
Thanks!Lovely Mixture said:My bad. According to the thread it was in "Thank you for your support and creativity! All (your) drawings are amazing)"
Oh wow, she does. I knew there was someone she reminded me off. I await the pictures of her with the same quirks as Riza... Although, now I pictured Putin as Roy... ... dammit.RJ 17 said:Because why not, that's why!
Seriously, she kinda-sorta looks like a real life version of that chick from Full Metal Alchemist.
I'm betting that's where all this is coming from.
Wasn't she in the army for 12 years before taking that job?WouldYouKindly said:On a side note, is funny that their attorney general is dressed in a military style uniform. I guess they took the term general to heart.
This is hentai territory here, you cannot possibly take it too far. Tenta-Putin doing things has a good chance of not breaking the top 100 revolting hentai things posted on any given day.Dragonlayer said:Uh, wouldn't that mean drawing tenta-Putin doing things?
