Pearl abyss stock is down 28% due to lower than expected review scores. Game isn't even out yet and they already are sharpening the axe.

Reviews are weird here. 10s and 4s. Reminds me of Wukong. And I freaking loved Wukong. But yeah I’ll just play the thing and form my own opinion. Reviewers apparently care more for things like pokopia, relaxing cozy stuff. Nothing wrong with that, but the call of adventure is too big to pass.

This is wait for sale on the scale rating for ACG. That said, if you're into exploring, getting lost, and not expecting/don't care for a teleporter or fast travel, then this game is for you. He does like the game, but it has bug issues that's much apparent on the PC version. Though according to some of the comments section, the day 1 patch will already be set to launch when game releases.

Sounds like it's a bit of an acquired taste, I suppose. But being overly complicated is not necessarily something that stops me from enjoying an action game. I definitely think this might find a very dedicated fan base, even if it might not be as broad as it could have been. Guess I'll see for myself tomorrow.

Also, not to put too fine a point on it, it's been a while since I've seen so many reviews for a game that start off stating that they weren't able to finish the main quest by the time they hit the deadline.

A big thing I heard was that this game is one where you have to take your time so a rushed reviewer playthrough is the exact wrong way to approach the game and also the main way reviewers play games.

I think it was on an Easy Allies podcast or some such where someone expected it to be like Dragon's Dogma and that felt right. The initial reception seems to be that exactly. It's just a certain type of fantasy game where you run around, fight stuff, get into whatever, and roll with the punches.
Just not for me anymore, as I'm already weary of large/long games. I think it's about like- can you get past the jank, the awkwardness, and do you even find that stuff kind of funny or charming? And for me right now and the foreseeable future, the answer is just... no, man, I got shit to do lol.

This is more like Skyrim or the newer Zelda games than dragon’s dogma as far as the experience goes. More about exploration than anything else. But yeah you do need to set away like a good week or so to properly get into all the things it has going on.

Ooof, inventory management. One of my least favourite parts of any kind of game. And sometimes it only takes one small aspect of it to totally fuck it up.
I've decided to skip this game. It reminds me a lot of Dragon's Dogma with terrible quest direction, clunky combat, and the sort of aimlessness that I really hate in game especially when they are giant open worlds. I think I or someone said this earlier in the thread but I feel like they just made a big ass world and then forgot to fill it with purpose for the player.

Some people really like exploration for the sake of it and those people will probably really enjoy the game. But that aint for me so I'm out.

I wasn't too interested in this game either, but I am happy for the fans who got hyped for this since 2022.

Jake's into it:

Basically he's digging the combat a lot, and some of the exploration. He ends with shitting on the story and characters which is the main reason this is on my no list for now, but it's a potential future on-discount purchase.

Jesus fuck a 300 hour platinum.
Reminds me of some of the Dyling Light 2 Achivement/Trophies. No thank you. I bet you the achievement percentage won't even reach 0.005.

I mean.. I have done some crazy shit for platinums, but the thought of 100% a game like this would never enter my mind.
Also, how can they know this already, the game just came out.

Powerpyx gets games early like reviewers, except for the purpose of making guides for people.

300 hours sounds about right for a game like this if you try to do absolutely everything.
