Oh, I see your point. To be honest I'm a horrible writer which is why I've given up on my dreams of becoming a published novelist. I simply don't have the control or thought processes to write that way.

What's more, I've found that being more concise and to the point usually doesn't help, especially on the internet. The reason being that people will try and make counter arguements, or say "yeah but", or just want more details. I typically wound up putting out the same amount of text (and they wind up reading as much) with shorter posts. I ramble, but at the same time I think it saves time if people read what I write.

I understand the problems, I've tried to correct them and find middle ground, but I'm just not wired that way.

When I write it tends to be in a very brief report-type form (like I did at work), or huge rambling masses of text. Maybe things will change, but I suspect it might have something to do with how messed up my head is (medically speaking).
Yes I know exactly what you mean and the internet can be bad for you (or me) that way.

I think the best way to approach either designing a game or writing a forum post, is to try to write it for the positive common sense people that will understand. And then hope for the best. And ignore blatant negativity.

It's not easy to be concise, but it's a skill worth developing. You usually have interesting thoughts so I could see you becoming a published novelist if that's still on your mind.

I'd hit Erin 2006 so hard, that whoever pulled me outta her should be crowned king of England...

OT: I thought the exactly same, when Sonic 3D came in the Mega Drive, I wanted a real 3D sonic badly, after Sonic Adventures 2, I was stuffed with it, and nowadays, I no longer hope for anything related to sonic. Not even the last animated series were as good as the first two.

I mean to do this purely as a favor to you: I hope you will accept it that way.

This could have been your post:

----------------------------------------

The problem is in part competent design or lack thereof.

Sometimes game designers are out of touch with their fan base and have trouble of effectively separating signal from noise.

The gaming community is said to be very negative and some companies have negativity forums so they can more easily ignore it: this is a problem.

Designers say that they don't just want you to point out the problems, but also offer solutions. This results in longer posts (like mine) which are then frequently ignored.

Why are there arrogant designers who look down on their fans like this?

Dragon age 2 is a good example: it uses a pre-made protagonist instead of wider customization, even tough Saint's row 2 showed with their multiple lengthy script read by multiple voice actors that you don't need to do it that way.

The game turned out alright, but dragon age would have been much better had they listened better to the information they had asked for and even received.

Likewise sonic 3D could easily have been a great game, but the development team completely fucked it up.

So yeah, great comic and a Sonic 3D game would have worked with competent game design.

-------------------------------------------------------

If you manage to make your writing shorter, you'll be read more and it'll be better for the games you comment on.

Honestly, I preferred the more verbose post. It conveyed more detail and personality than the summary did.

I liked sonic adventure 2....

I'm probably the only one aren't I?
Don't worry, I have the same problem. I felt that shadow is unappreciated, Considering he brooded for what, 1 Game? Jeez Louise, Kratos Brooded for 5 games straight and yet people still like him.

Sorry for the Rant, I'm a bit of a Shadow fan.

I believe Team Sonic is out of touch with the times and their fans. If there ever was a title/franchise that needed to be handed of to the likes of Team Ninja, Ninja Theory (since they seem to be very popular lately)or any other notable 3rd party developer for a reboot, the Sonic the Hedgehog series would be it. Heck, maybe other developers would start listening to the Sonic Comic writers because they have been begging Team Sonic to make a game based on the comics for a while. I guess the suits and the devs of Team Sonic are too stubborn to listen to anyone but themselves and whatever creative mojo they had is quickly running out.
Its because the Japanese absolutely HATE the comics. Before the internet, Japan actually had its own story behind Sonic's adventures that resembled the Sonic Adventure series, with all the heroes on Earth. Mobius was purely an English speaking invention.

Funny because it's true. I gave up on 3D Sonic games with Sonic Heroes. I'm sorry, but the ledge was a bigger threat than anything else in the entire game. That and the bugs and poorly designed levels. Other than that...

goth Erin.... 'oly shit

also, I really don't wish sonic team would get eaten by wolves, I just want 'em to know what the fuck they have to do when it comes to games =P
I thought the same about 2006 Erin. I really liked that look. But I like a lot of the costume choices in the other comics, too.

I would hope the authors really think Sonic Colors was a bad game. Hating for the sake of hate isn't funny
Actually I haven't played it. Sonic 4, however, was an utter turd made worse for every moment of anticipation.

When two guys and a free engine can do a better job of a 2.5D sonic game than the actual developers? It's time to hire new developers.

I wished that they would start genetically engineering real blue hedgehogs... but if they can't even master the gaming thing...
But if genetically modified blue hedge hogs can SAVE the world, they could RULE it too... We'd be screwed
The true ending will always involve heroics, so we're good.

Anyways...yeah, Sonic Team >_>
Isnt the Blue Hedgehogs kinda there to save the animals? If so i believe humanity might stand in the Blue Hedgehogs way to heroic.

I have to agree. Sonic Colors is surprisingly good. But as she's tossing an Xbox controller, I can only assume they're concentrating mainly on Sonic 4.
