Seems to be what their counting on. I, for one, will not be partaking in Origin just for BF3/ME3.

Steam needs a competitor. A competitor that treats customers well, offer what Steam does not(or offer what Steam offers, but better), be unobtrusive, and give good reasons to add yet another program to your PC. It also needs goodwill and trust.

EA is not the one who's up to the challenge for that. They have a history of not giving two craps about their customers, Origin offers nothing interesting compared to Steam, gives no good reason to install, and as far as goodwill and trust go, well I don't think I need to explain that.

There's also the fact that their prices are more expensive then Steam in certain areas of the world. Particularly Europe. And their sales are just laughable.

Yeah, EA will not be the one to "challenge" Steam.
I totally agree with you on that iv'e always loved the deals steam does and nearly all my non games are even added to Steam just because it's a really good service but Origin on the other hand has nothing of any value to even offer me in order to make me want to switch over and with the increased prices of EA's games on their system it just pushes me further away from them not to mention most of EA services have had a really bad history especially when you mentioned not giving two shits which is totally true.

I just expect Origin to start off as normal and then watch it slump then fall and then finally crash and burn and return from whence it came so we can pretend Origin never existed as a competitor in the first place.

...is that a meerkat wearing headphones? Man this web-comic is trendy as heck.
I'd say it's a ferret.

I really want that shirt. Only without shoulder straps.
'Tis a ferret and his name is DJ StinkyBeats known for throwing down some of the dirtiest mixes in the industrial trip hop/ trancecore scene. (<= fabrications)

The email did accomplish one semi-good thing. It reminded me I have an EA acoount. No idea how I forgot, since I need it for my Dragon Age DLC, but I did.

I say take the hit, ditch the games even if it hurts. Just not worth it with Origin ._.

Well... I haven't actually heard anything bad about it. I just think it will be a completely pointless failure like Games For Windows (or whichever combination of words it was that eventually became the name of the Windows version of Xbox Live) and no-one will use it unless they have to. Two reasons:

1. Steam practically has a monopoly and people like using it already.
2. It's only going to sell EA games.

Really, the only reason I have not to use it is that I think EA is run by a load of dickbags.
