What you are describing has existed for tens of thousands of years and it is called misogyny. I'm particularly tired of gender roles that force men to look down on themselves and act like utter jerks with no personal dreams or passions. Men believing they are animals and that they must be hypnotized by T&A are ancient stereotypes. These stereotypes were perpetuated by a society dominated by a small group of powerful men who were very comfortable living within that set of arbitrary rules. One of my personal reasons for being into social activism is to tear down those stereotypes, so people stop judging me for what I'm not.

And yet you have always assumed, with your oh so generous benefit of the doubt that games are "made by and designed for aggressively immature idiots". So people shouldn't judge you for what you are not but it's okay for you to judge others based on your own prejudices.

That's called giving the benefit of the doubt or more formally pressumption of innocence and it's one of the founding principles of modern society. In the absence of evidence, instead of attacking gamers I am laying my trust in them. And to be clear, the only assumptions being made here are that games are not designed for would-be murderers and rapists and that games are not made by evil companies who actively support their mindset. What problem do you have with that?

I guess it would be the part where assuming gamers are "aggressively immature idiots" somehow on your planet doesn't constitute an attack on gamers but rather some presumption of innocence. Would a better way of "laying your trust" in gamers not be to assume rather than that they are just "aggressively immature idiots" they are simply more forgiving of the flaws of the industry than you because they don't see them as a huge deal to get worked up over? See that then the presumption of innocence stands and your not calling anyone stupid. Which is both an attack and an assumption.

Yeah that was me because I ran with the word Sexbot from your original link. But it doesn't really matter either way to be honest. The problem is you refusing to acknowledge that the video shows her being executed for going on a knife wielding killing rampage in order to press your idea that you she was killed for being a hooker.

I think they are just a refluffed version of the Wolvers from the core book.

The BigRipp was 14", so bleh to your mere 1'. Blade is plural (i.e. it is "blades" in the MRB), although that could be referring to both hands. Also, it may not have said so specifically in the book but wolvers came in 3s in the artwork, hence "wolvers" from wolverine. To my mind the BigRipp is closer. Doesn't mean that that was what was on their mind, could be they were thinking wolvers, but I still think that of existing CP2020 cyberware, the BigRipp is closer to what we see there.

The BigRipp is a honking chainsaw attached at the wrist though, and doesnt look concealable in its art work... Could be though! Or it could be a totally new system that they are working with.

But the reason I said Wolvers is because they are the right length, had the proper mechanism (IE poping out of the wrist), and I did mention that they were likely re-fluffed, which CP2020 never really had a big problem with I think considering its big ideal is style style style.

BigRipp does the same, it's just a sinlge blade that can also come out of the forearm. Do I have to post a scan?

its funny the person doing accusations of sexism is the one who (mistakenly) automatically assumes "hooker"

What was cyberpunk 2077 portraying? I'm sorry, I don't get the damn trailer at all. The premise seems to be "people are getting a lot of implants, people with implants want to kill the meatbags, men in combat gear shooting half naked lady with impractical looking blades coming out of her arms and massive honking tits. Oh and her skin is bulletproof apparently." I'm sorry but what the flying fuck was going on in that trailer? Why did she have to be half naked? Why did she need the F cup? I don't get why that trailer got everyone so hyped for the game, it couldn't turn me off faster.

1. Those with implants don't just want to kill 'meatbags' as you call them, they simply have them to better themselves for whatever personal reasons, but overdoing implanting causes a loss of humanity. The squad of police who drop down an capture the woman with the 'impractical blades' (which seem fairly useful to me) are made up of 'Psycho's' those serial implantors who have been driven to lose their humanity. It shows ALOT, and leaves a room for fun speculation based around pre-released info.

2. It was portraying that the inhabitants of the city are obsessed with implanting. (implants aren't just there to use as weapons or enhance vision etc) The fact that almost every one in this trailer looks so attractive is due to the inhabitants changing how they look- the breast implants and beautiful looks that fit with common view of 'attractiveness.'


sure it may seem uneccesary but the trailer (excluding the music ) showed alot of good room for development and you have to remember that the developer has to draw people in- not much else draws people in like a beautiful woman with ridiculous implants xD

nah no need to worry, I found it in my book, I also looked in Interface and yeah, the weapon she has is definitely a BigRipp, nice catch

I wasn't saying it was definitely a BigRipp, just that that was the closest fit in CP2020, although having just had a look at the interface version the blades look incredibly similar, it doesn't take much work to add a fancy custom telescoping spring version to cyberarm and you have pretty much exactly what is in the movie.

Also I wish people would learn that if something is pointed out as being sexist no one is saying you are sexist for enjoying it.

I think this is part of the reason some guys fly off the handle if anyone dares to suggest a video game might be sexist when it's not actually implied.

Pretty sure that when I read Enid Blyton books when I was little I wasn't a huge racist, for example and yet I can still acknowledge the racism in those books.

That said we should look long and hard about the fact that people were more outraged about Sarkeesian airing her opinion than some senator saying videogames cause gun violence.

Yes I can agree with this, criticism is good. It is especially good when the object of criticism has been researched and analyzed. Accepting criticism is important as well.

Yes, SOME people were (the dumb misogynistic vocal gamers). But others like me, weren't outraged, just critical because Anita is not a good critic.

I'll clarify: A feminist (male or female) making a project to analyze media is fine by me. A feminist (male or female) asking for money to do a project that she hasn't been doing well in the first place is irritating but acceptable to me, but don't think I'm some chauvinist pig when I criticize her.

OT: Looking at just the trailer and taking it at just face value and make inferences with the things that I am shown. There's some woman that just got shot by a bullet in the cheek and it shattered on impact while her cheek remained unharmed, maybe she's a robot or something. The camera changes to a man wearing what appears to be riot gear and holding an assaul rifle that says police on it and he fires off a round, he must have been shooting at the woman. As the bullet travels you see blood on the ground and a lone high heel that's colored red. Maybe there was a murder here, did the woman do it? There are also more bullets in the air at different locations, there must be more policemen. We then see the woman kneeling on the ground with scythes coming out of here forearms and she's covered in blood with bodies strewn around her. She must have killed those people. We then go to a bird eye's view and see the scene from above with a voice claiming that 14 people were killed and 4 others were seriously injured. Holy shit did she do all that? Then a guy appears behind her with a gun held to her head with a police badge and is dressed differently from the other police, maybe he deals with these things exclusively. Then we see the trigger starting to be pulled, so she will probably die from something that close. Finally we see a woman in an indoor area and she's slightly jostling and there are lights moving in the background so she's probably in a car or a truck. She also has the same scar thing on her cheek as the woman who killed people, is she the same person? And the special police is there too, then she puts on the weird helmet that the other guy is also wearing.

If I'm able to gain all of that from just watching the trailer and then pausing it, writing it down here, and then unpausing it and repeating all that. I'm pretty sure that they were able to portray the trailer pretty damn well. There's a woman, it's revealed that she's covered in blood with scythes coming out her fucking arms and there's a report saying that there were 14 dead and that the police have a suspect while they have a top down look at her and the bodies laying around her. I think she might have killed some people guys.

I'm not sure I even want to get involved in this disaster of a thread, but here goes anyway:

The trailer isn't an advertisement.

It's an announcement trailer.

Cyberpunk 2020 is a tabletop RPG that has been VERY popular in Poland. CD Projekt RED is a Polish company. They wanted to announce the fact that they're working on a game in that setting and get people to pay attention to any future updates that may be coming. It's essentially saying, "Like Cyberpunk? We're doing a Cyberpunk game. Stay tuned".

That's it. End of story.

It's not selling you on the game, as it's not even close to being finished yet. Claiming that the trailer "failed" because it doesn't sell you on the product is YOUR mistake, not the trailer's shortcoming.

Oh, and Cowboy Bebop isn't cyberpunk. Neither is Doctor Who. That's just sci-fi. Personally, I find it a stretch to lump Serial Experiments: Lain in with cyberpunk, too. Cyber, yes... but it lacks the "punk" aesthetic. It may have been inspired by cyberpunk, but it's not really cyberPUNK, per se. And I'm a HUGE fan of SE:L.

Whoever said that CB and DW are cyberpunk really doesn't understand the genre...
