I'm only partway through the original first encounter at the moment but how is the story any good? It's appalling! I didn't have a clue why I was running around to get those elements nor did I get why Sam was after an artefact that he didn't know what it did. Why were there undead running around ancient egypt? As I said I'm only partway through, up to thebes, but the story is terrible! Don't get me wrong I like the gameplay and the encounters are fun and challenging and it's one of the best shooters I've played despite the dated grpahics but why praise the story of all things?Chipperz said:But... But... Fun gameplay! Good story! Both of these things are more important than graphics, and Serious Sam has them.
Also, it's an HD remake, so your argument makes no sense. I say Serious Sam for the PS3!
The storyline is genius. It's the ultimate in "Enemy is here, go kill.", stripping away every attempt from stuff like Halo and Killzone to give any kind of justification for giving you increasingly large guns and sending you at increasing waves of enemies. I guess I like it because it's a story that knows it's an absurd situation and is one of the few that doesn't try to cover it up.lostclause said:I'm only partway through the original first encounter at the moment but how is the story any good? The storyline is just a convenient excuse to blow stuff up and it does remove some of the pretensions to seriousness that something like GOW has but you can miss it if you don't look for it. I'd collected two of the element before I realised that all the info I was going to get was the texts from the computer who was really just there to explain weapons and complement me on being a badass.Chipperz said:The storyline is genius. No, not really. I think that no matter how many good games you have, there is always room for more, no?Indigo_Dingo said:Says a lot about the quality of the games we have otherwise, doesn't it?Jsnoopy said:Surprised that the the PSN members were unenthusiastic about it.
