Games are games. There is no difference between a game for PC, and a game for console other then how they are controlled. Modability has nothing to do with the game. Just because you can create mods does not make a game better because it has nothing to do with the game. Besides they will probably release a toolset soon anyway.
...
Mech Warrior: Living Legends mod for Crysis would like to disagree with you there, as would the entirety of the HL2 modding community. The modding scene is huge on the PC, sometimes turning out superior content to the devs themselves. Blocking that, especially when there were several exceptional mods on their previous title, is disappointing to say the least.
I know certain games have mod communities that are bloody awesome. I actually have more hours clocked on Synergy then I care to think about. What I'm saying is that modability should not affect what someone thinks about a game because it is not part of the game. It's an addition made by a fan that was no originally part of the game.
I respect that attitude, but when the first game supported mods and the devs promised to be 'PC centric', to remove mod support can easily be seen as a betrayal and facility for modding an integral feature of this sort of PC game. I bought HL2 partially for the mods having enjoyed so many on the first game; if Valve didn't support mods then, well, I dont think HL2 would have done anything like as well. Mods and the facility for them do count towards a game's worth, that's my point here.
Fair enough, but when exactly did they promise mod support? I asked this to the other guy I've been going back and forth with for the last while but he never answered.
They probably didn't, they just said that they were PC-centric. That assumes your standard graphics options selection (like in the first one), the comprehensive use of your PC's maximum potential (like the first one), and mod support. Like the first, PC centric one.

i know that there will be a dx11 patch for it, but they created the game for dx10 and patched it. as in, it was developed IN dx10 and patched to 11

To OP:

You are criticizing a game for its story/pacing, yet you haven't even bought it yet.

What?
I'm just talking about what I've generally heard about the game and if I remember right, I praised Crysis 2' story and pacing in relation to the first game.

I'm not reviewing the game, I'm just offering very light criticism. When I do get the game in the christmas steam sale, then maybe I'll review it. Right now, this isn't a review, so don't complain.

WHY WASNT IT DESIGNED FOR DX11?!?!?!

i thought THE WHOLE POINT was that it was going to debut as one of those first games made for DX11 that really shined and made use of the engine...

WHAT IS GOING ON CRYTEK?!?!?!
http://tinyurl.com/4ee5rdf

Read that
So the executive producer is saying that at some point they might announce a patch that will introduce DX11 as well as NORMAL pc graphics setting options? How nice of them. Some might even say, "Why the FUCK wan't Dx11 included at the start?! Why on earth give PC gamers any reason to doubt their dedication to the platform? What were they thinking?!"

You haven't played it, you can't really talk about it outside of the omission of DX11 and a proper graphics menu.

And it says "press enter" to begin.

As for Crysis 2, I liked it, but the gimped suit is a real pain in the arse. Alcatraz can't fucking fart if he doesn't have any suit power. The multiplayer keeps wiping my stats completely if I get disconnected, then kind of restoring them but not fully, which also bugs me.

I mean, can it REALLY be that hard to get (what is essentially) a spreadsheet to not bug out? And why are stats not saved if I get disconnected? All it has to do is send each kill/death/score to the spreadsheet in the menu each time I get one. Why is that so difficult?

I wish developers would just use Steamworks.

The new punch mechanic is a pain too - you have to hold the melee button for like 4 seconds, making it stupidly difficult to line up a car-kick with an enemy during the middle of a firefight.

Wasn't complaining actually, was wondering how you were making these claims. Personally I don't give a flying raccoon about Crysis, I felt the first one was meh, and the second one doesnt interest me one bit. Just woken up after a heavy night out, feeling the after effects and was confused by your OP ;)

Just letting you know that there will be DX11.

I love the classic PC hate for anything consolafied (is that a word?). Look, I play both PC and console game, party due to the fact that most of my friends play console, yet I like PC better. You guys would not have nearly as much hate for the game if it was just PC only, you would say that they made some changes you did not like yes, but it would be reduced tenfold. I am not trying to start a flame war or anything like that, but saying that they did things like reduce the amount of powers so that it could fit on consoles is just plain silly (I mean power and strength, they all played into mobility, so why have two seperate ones). I played through the game, I thought it was solid, but at the same time, half the reason people though the first game was so good was teh graphics. Dont lie, we all like a challage, something that says "I dare you to build a PC that can run it". Look, even if they were trying to make it work better for consoles, it makes sense, there is a way bigger market out there on consoles, so doing things like hating on the game and not buying it simply means that they will then devote more resources to consoles on the next game.

TL;DR
Crysis two is not make for consoles, they made design desisions that just happened to be able to work for consoles as well, there would not be nearly as much hate if it was PC only

If it was just on PC it would have been designed around the PC.

Cevat Yerli: "That being said, I think if Crysis 2 was just a PC game it probably would be a different game right now"

I agree completely. I too have both a gaming PC and an Xbox. And what most PC gamers don't realize is that consoles aren't "dumbing down" games. Games are just being modernized. It just so happens, that the most active gamers today enjoy a less difficult, less complex, and more linear game. Crysis 2 would be exactly the same if it were released only on the PC. The only difference would be that the title screen would say "press enter to begin".

You have to be fucking kidding me.
Okay, what exactly makes you think that it's consoles that are dumbing down the industry?
No, it's not that I quoted and for the record, I feel that consoles do dumb down games, but mostly are just stagnant.

What I did quote was you saying that games are being modernized. Do you even know what that means?

Almost all genres in the past ten years have had little progress and the only "modernization" is mixing genres for little reason.

What innovation have we seen with RPGs?

How about FPSs?

RTSs?

Turn based?

Adventure?

Puzzle?

We've barely evolved as a medium in the past 10 years and this "modernization" argument is a bunch of rubbish, no offense. Apart from graphics, gameplay and story have evolved little.

I didn't say that games are evolving, I said that they're being "modernized". As in, they are conforming to the modern gamer. As I said, it just so happens that most active modern gamers like games to be quick, action packed, less complex, and pretty. I hate the direction games are going too, but it's incorrect to blame console gamers as a whole. After all, a lot of us console gamers are up in arms about the direction of games as well.

Oh alright. I just hate this excuse that whenever we criticise things, we get the excuse that the game is being "streamlined" or "modernized" and apparently we're all old farts sitting in our chairs reminiscing about the "good old days".

That would be Metro 2033.

...seriously? Story? What happened to all those adventure games?
