Wouldn't it be Dark Souls 3?...or whatever its going to be called. I would say, the next Souls game.

First game was Demons Souls, Second was Dark Souls.

OT: Demons Souls is amazing and although I haven't got to Dark Souls yet, I am sure it is amazing also. So they should just keep what they are doing!
Dark Souls is only a spiritual successor to Demon's Souls, not an actual sequel.
Then their third souls game should also be a spiritual successor. They should keep it going with the different soul names.

: Corrupt Souls
: Hell Souls
: Light Souls?
: Evil Souls
: Wicked Souls
: Vile Souls
Most probably Dragon's Souls. I can see it being called Dragon Souls. And there being a few dragons. Also:

Dread Souls
Dead Souls
Damned Souls
Devil's Souls

etc. etc.
Romney Souls?

OT: I would buy the shit out of it. I'd lie to see a few more NPCs and more of the secret things like the thing where if you kill the giant breasted giant lady it becomes night time and everything gets even harder.

Just, really bigger and better but following the same formula and mostly same gameplay only with less of those giant, fucking snake guys that kill me EVERY. FUCKING. TIME!

Two armour sets.

The first set is what your character benefits from stat wise.

The second set is purely for aesthetic purposes.

I'm sick of seeing other players wearing mixes of armour sets, especially when I see male characters running around with dresses on because they're the best stat wise :D

I hate having to look like I've just fallen out of wardrobe just to stay on par with other players in PvP.
^This^

For me, Dark Souls is just perfect as it is, I really can't see how they could improve upon it even more, except for the aesthetic armor thing.

Well, the exact same thing goes for sorcery, though. I whooped Gwyn with those crystal homing balls, it was absurdly easy. Hell, I even beat Four Kings on my first try with my sorcerer, and I am not that good at Dark Souls. Magic makes both Souls games far easier than regular melee fighting. There's a reason everyone tells new players to pick the royal class in Demon's Souls. They would have to overhaul the entire magic system to "balance" this. Personally, I don't have the damnedest idea how they would do so, without making magic simply unfun.
They need to balance pyro spells more than anything. Preferably by making a few more enemies more resistant too it.

With magic, quite a few enemies resist it, you need high INT to deal major damage, and you still have a limited
number of spell uses. You need to specialize a lot to make good use of magic, whereas with pyro spells you just need a ton of souls to upgrade the pyro glove.

An example of where Dark Souls completely fails to explain itself:

You can kill vendors/important NPCs if you attack them. This is not taught to the player at all. Learning this involves accidentally doing it, perhaps 10 hours into the game, with the result that one very important vendor/NPC is gone forever, and the only option to bring him back is restarting. This isn't old-school, this isn't cool, this is just STUPID.
Isn't that your fault for being a dick and attacking the man supplying you?

My only complaint about that is you get no second chances. For most enemies it's one hit, and you're fucked. In Demon's Souls it took a few hits before they engaged.

Otherwise, I have no qualms with that. I can't logically think of a reason you would want to kill them - and they're one of the few humans you meet so killing them is reasonably going to have more significant consequences than, say, killing hollows.
No, because in a game like DS it's terribly easy to accidentally press the wrong button and end up swinging at the guy you actually just wanted to talk to. In real life, when you walk up to someone to talk to them, do you think there's any chance at all that you could accidentally punch them? Oh sorry I punched you there mate, I actually just wanted to talk to but I got nervous... It's not 'realistic', it's just fucking retarded, and a false and contrived way to create tension.
Then how would you fix this "contrivance?"

Better broken-straight sword. I tell you, trying to kill that first boss with this thing before passing... It was a pain, I mean I managed after 10 tries or so. And I got this big badass hammer for it, but who's idea was it to pit noobs against a ten tons asylum demon with the equavelant of a broken bottle without ways of healing yourself?
Wow dude, I just have to mention that you're kind of expected to run from that fight and take it out later with a proper weapon and the Estus flask, if you really beat the Asylum Demon with just the starting broken sword... Mad props bro. You're almost blindly determined for not thinking to look around the room and finding the very open escape door the moment it drops in.

If they choose to continue with the covenant system then they should create more incentive to stick with one particular covenant for the entire game, I don't know about anyone else but on my first playthrough I joined every single covenant as soon as I discovered them just to get whatever unique bonuses they each gave and then abandoned them... I never even recieved any penalty for my betrayal... except from the Forest Hunters who refused to allow me to rejoin them.

Perhaps progression through a given covenant could only be achieved if you stayed loyal to them throughout the entire game, and more tangible benefits should be given to each covenant to make them unique and beneficial.

Every NPC could belong to a particular covenant and you can only talk with them if you are a member of the same covenant... perhaps they don't even appear if you aren't in their covenant like Shiva in Darkroot Garden?
Imagine if Solaire was only available to summon if you were a member of the Warriors of Sunlight? If you were in the Way of White perhaps you'd be able to summon Petrus or someone else instead?

And like I just said there should be much bigger penalties paid for betrayal...

I like self imposed challenges! I'll try this and post the results.

To my defense it was hidden behind three vases that was hard to spot when you were beating a huge demon to death with a small piece of rusted iron.

Dude, in the Depths just kill the second butcher, nick his sack thing that he drops. Go back to the undead asylum and drop it off at the Crows-nest. Log out and log in and it turns into the hammer. A tad bit easier I think if you just want the hammer.

Hold on.....You can't Pause the game????
Yeah, you can't pause in Demons Souls or Dark Souls. Imo I hope they keep it, even for Offline mode.

OT: Only thing I want is maybe bring back the Tendency system to the series, dying in Dark Souls had less meaning without it. Yeah you lost progress but in Demons Souls it was more then just losing progress.

That and maybe double or triple the content. Larger area's, more paths, etc... But overall keep the gameplay the same and all other systems the same.

The hammer isn't that good as a weapon, and it's even easier to get it in New Game Plus since you can easily kill the Asylum Demon with all your upgraded equipment from the start.

In terms of naming it would be quite cool to go with Dark Souls 2. It would be an ode to Heretic, HeXen and HeXen 2.

I think a good name for another Souls game would be Dead Souls. It's a bit nondescript, but it ties in with the whole Darksign thing.

But seriously it would be nice if they fixed the co op so you could actually play with your friends easily. I think I have played with a mate like once on that game.

to the guys complaining about "forced" pvp..
i think you can only get invaded if you are in human form. *edited out incorrect statement about black separation crystal*

Anyways i wish i had your problems. I've played 120 hours and have only been invaded 4 times. Probably to do with being in western australia.

To the people having problems with accidentally killing/attacking NPC's, you have two things you can do. If you didn't kill them, then request absolution from Oswald and they'll forgive you for attacking. Option number 2 is finish the game and go into New Game plus.

Nope.

As in... absolutely hell no!

No numbers in my Souls games. It would make them look like any of those other games, you know, the bling-laden AAA whores that think adding growing numbers to their names is original enough.

Demon's Souls
Dark Souls
...

Anything goes if it sticks to that mold. Devil's Souls? Sounds a bit cheesy. Dog Day Souls? Nah.

Dragon Souls would have been pretty much my favourite up until Capcom announced (and later released) Dragon's Dogma. So, no Dragon Souls, I guess.

Deviant Souls sounds nice.

Damned Souls...Deplored Souls... lots of possibilities. But they absolutely must not change the core mechanics in any significant way, as they are as perfect and honourable as possible already. The PVP with the smurfers was definitely broken, but it felt good once I managed to start killing them... and getting a million souls or whatnot for my effort. The invasion system I found to be an integral part of my experience, and when I felt weak and tired I just plain didn't go online for a bit. It took me a while to sync out of the damnating hymns of 'reviewing' these games, but once I realized it was From Software of King's Field fame and infamy behind it, there was just no way I wouldn't try them on for size and love them to death. Their traditions must not be broken or messed with. This ain't no Harry Potter party.

Aye.

I've done both repeatedly, and there's just nothing that compares to not being able to shop for essential items because one made a mistake and planted a poisoned dagger in that unique, specific, friendly undead merchant's face. It makes you think about how stupid it was to make such a mistake, it makes you miss that NPC, and it makes the game experience harder - and, in the end, more rewarding. Come NG+, Donkey Kong is beating his chest on top again, the princess is in the cage and Mario is back to the very beginning. It's quite philosophical, quite meta, and at times it feels like a practical joke being played with the player being at the receiving end of it. But I still haven't grown tired of Lordran or Boletaria. Give me some more of that, give me more Souls. There's still nothing like them around. Dragon's Dogma took bits and pieces and implemented them in its more D&D style, Shadow of the Colossus enhanced system, which worked for me safe for those Jedward-style always-babbling NPCs. Zombie-U brings another serving of permadeath, which I think rocks and really motivates you to get better, be better and get over it. From Software is a beautiful flower, I hope those darned Kinect contracts won't crush it.

dark souls was basically the same as demons souls but with tighter controls. only thing id really like to chnge is the way the story is presented. until i watched epicnamebro's lore series about the game, i didnt even know dark souls really had a plot
