Darth Vader Diagnosed With Mental Illness

Yeah, whatever, according to psychologists everyone has some sort of mental illness. How would they make money otherwise... I did one of their tests once and apparently I have about 5 different mental illnesses on a medium-to-high level (no achievement unlocked yet, I bet it comes with the 6th), OCD being the funniest example because I behave in probably the direct opposite way than people with OCD are supposed to behave. I classify psychologists in the same category as astrologists and mentalists, I think they will become extinct in the future. Behavior is chemistry and I think psychiatrists can really help people with severe chemical imbalances in their body, but psychologists...no.

What? The chief warlord of the evil wizard isn't entirely right in the head? Preposterous!
Also, don't these people have university degrees? They must have more publication-fit material.

This is kinda awesome. I wonder if they would do one for some other famous movie characters too. Like the Joker for instance.

Let me guess, most of this is based on how illogical and irrational Anakin acts in the original Trilogy?

Bloody Hell. Why can't we just have Episodes 1-3 retconned out of the Star Wars Canon.

Internet "tests" don't count, but I get the feeling you already knew that... Classifying psychologists in the same bracket as astrologists and mentalists is ignorant, behaviour is certainly part chemistry but for the main part it's conditioning. In living life we get conditioned to behave a certain way, to think a certain way every day, psycho therapy affects that conditioning. In therapy a man can definately achieve more by therapy (given that he does in fact coöperate) than by medication alone.

OT: Psychologists trying to raise awareness about BPD, no problem if you ask me.

...Well of course. And I suppose the Joker is manic-depressive? And let's not forget Norman Osborn's schizophrenia, or Lex Luthor's obsessive-compulsive disorder.
I'd say that the Joker is more schizophrenic than Norman Osborn. The Joker reinvents his personality every day.
Schizophrenia isn't multiple personality disorder.
Schizophrenia is the whole hearing voices in your head shebang.
Not quite sure why the two conditions have been confused over the years.

... Why must they diagnose someone who was WRITTEN TO BE A CERTAIN WAY, therefore, maybe they should instead analyze George Fucking Lucas.
Why would they analyze George Lucas?

OT: Alright then; kind of interesting I guess, but mostly very very pointless.

Wow; seriously?

This news-thread has about 3 decent posts, all of them explaining how idiotic you are if you posted "Fail" or "Waste of time". In the news-post it even clearly stated:

"The researchers are using their analysis of Darth Vader as an example to spread awareness"
Yet you people are still crying and moaning about it, all the while claiming you yourself have all these self-diagnosed mental problems...If you're not going to post sensibly, and actually read / use your brain, then it'd probably be best if you didn't post at all...

Lucas shat out the terrible dialogue and stupid plot for SW.

Hey, diagnose Lucas instead! Maybe he´s got a stupid disorder.

Possibly because George Lucas wrote and directed them.
Hmm, maybe if he'd just admit he has completely lost it. I mean in the original trilogy it was great, he worked COLLABORATIVELY with other directors, writers and so on. Now he thinks he can do no wrong when apparently he can do no right.

Films are collaborative works of art, humanities greatest achievements have not been done by lone individuals but many working together. Lucas runs his latest projects like a dictator, all top down, and he seems to have completely lost the spark that his early films had. I think his problem is he's now unable to ask the opinion of others and grow from that.

So, is everyone here forgetting that psychologists are also people, who don't work 24/7 and may like to have nerdy conversations just like the majority of us on this site?

..I just stopped asking at the making of Revenge of the Sith.

If anything, they should be analyzing George Lucas for possible inhumanity. No normal human could have done so horridly awful with his own series than.. well, him.

Really? REALLY?!

I'm the only person who read the thread title and was tempted to put:

"Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!"

With that out of my system, this is seriously pathetic. That must have been one dull sunday evening for them to have analysed a fictional character and diagnosed him.
