If they want Total Recall back in the cinema, just re-release the proper one, don't try to remake it. Remake does not have Arnie in it; ergo remake can't compare with original. I'd PAY to see original on big screen, wouldn't watch remake if it was free.

Stop being so Hollywood, Hollywood!

Total Recall is my favorite Schwarzenegger movie. It is the LAST thing that needs to be remade.

Am I the only one who read the title and thought they were literally putting in a character based on Davy Jones of Davy Jone's Locker, some type of devil of the sea?

Then I read what they are really doing and wished they really were just copying Pirates of the Caribbean characters. I mean really, Colin Ferrel is a bad choice but not the end of the world. But no mars?! I have no words for that level of stupidity. Who went out of their way to make an alteration that pointless but still so detrimental.

Total Recall without the scene where people die on the surface of mars is not Total Recall.

No...
You're not the only one. I clicked the headline laughing about who Peter Tork would play (Johnny-Cab robot) and hoping that it really meant David Bowie (who's original name was Davy Jones.

The only bit of casting I want to know is who's going to play the three tittied lady.

Remaking Total Recall without Mars would be like remaking Day of the Dead, making the army the good guys, completely changing the setting, removing all the original characters and changing how the zombies work. Oh... wait...

I've heard this version is supposed to be closer to Philip K. Dick's original novelette, but then why call it Total Recall?

So here's a fun fact, did you know Minority Report was originally penned as a sequel to Total Recall?

I predict disaster. The original was perfect and still holds up. You can't top the cast of Arnold, Michael Ironside, and Ronny Cox. The effects were amazing for the time and I don't think they could be done nearly as well with CG.

So really it's less of a remake and more a completely new movie that they're hoping will entice people by having the same title.

Seriously, new characters, new setting, new plot, for anyone else that would spell 'entirely new movie' but apparently Hollywood are determined to keep that title in place.

From the synopsis so far, it sounds kind of half-assed. I'll keep an ear out for it, but I'm not expecting much.

The first movie was excellent (One of my faves actually), the last thing it needed was an unnecessary remake. Really if this bombs I don't care (although if it goes poorly people won't buy the original thinking it's the crappy remake), also Arnold acting may be hammier than a bacon factory but he did a good job with the role.

So, they're remaking a film that was connected only to the original short story through core concept and now their remaking THAT and further removing the story from the original? That sucks. I wonder how P. K. Dick would think of his kids selling his works whenever they get a bit strapped for cash... Also, Colin Farrell has only have been in one film where he was any good and I highly doubt he can do it again.
