I bet in 5 years this will look silly and only make things even more confusing.

This kinda shit is why I usually stick to Graphic Novels or Elseworlds tales. Full stories as opposed to the continuity gymnastics and filler needed to keep a comic going indefinitely.

I can see that this will feel like a massive kick in the nuts to people who have completely memorised every bit of continuity ever in existence. But personally I think that sounds good. At the very least this will mean that people (people like me, without extensive knowledge of the DC universe/multiverse/whateververse) can pick up a comic and read it without wondering what is going on. That, in turn, sounds like a clever business decision for DC. Now I just hope that this works out well, because then I could see myself getting into comics again.

I actually said I was interested in getting into DC a few days ago. The writers are watching me...
I still think the golden age heroes need to go, they've just been around for too long.
I love me some Bateman, Duperman, and whatever cutesy name I come up with for Wonder Woman,(Something about tying people up?) but their presence is bad for creativity.

Green Lantern #1 - Even with a new #1, Green Lantern remains in Johns' hands, and readers can expect the effects of major crossovers like "Blackest Night" to stay in place moving forward.

From the sounds of this it's not going to be a full reboot, just some sort of wierd timey-wimey-multi-versy ball-shit. But no I'm moderately interested, will be picking up Grant's Superman. I read bits of and then ignored his Batman as he's just not the right fit of a writer for that. I kinda wish DC would stop wishing for their characters to "mature" and then moan when they realize this means they have to age, even at slow comic book time. I'd love to see a DC imprint that moved along with real-time, with Superman Batman and Wonder Woman all appearing in 2012, the Titans a few years after and the JSA 20 years before. Every 12 issues a character would be a year older, and each issue would be dated to a point within that year dependent on story arc length. This way they could face a few interesting villains per year, and it be implied they spend the rest of it chasing muggers etc. They would grow old, have their DKR moments, and then hand over their suit to a sidekick or apprentice, and eventually die.

But on the other hand the one thing superhero films has taught me is that I really hate origin stories. So meh.

Didn't Marvel do this with the whole Ultimate thing and just make something even worse?

Saying that though DC is pretty good apart from that whole mess towards the end.

Comics are getting more and more expensive and more full of ads. The audience is shrinking as the "geek" demographic has so many other, more cost effective, entertainment options. The industry failed to see this for a long time and was content milking more and more money out of the dwindling fanbase.

Hopefully the industry is smart enough to charge much less for digital copies and not encumber them with tons of drm crap. But I'm not holding my breath.

Btw this: http://www.amazon.com/10-2-Flytouch3-X220-Android-Tablet/dp/B004UOOD2I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1306954385&sr=8-1 is a low quality iPad knockoff that makes for an awesome digital reader

This is pointlesssss. Pointless i tell you. Since they said in their letter to retailers, that they will reboot things that will be convenient to reboot for them. GL for instance will stay unchanged, casue it's Geoff Johns baby. Also i said this again and again and will said it one more time. There is a lot of titles that are not so hard to get into. Flash, Birds of Prey, Zattana, Green Arrow, they all had #1 issue last year. Green Lantern 60 issues or so. Secret Six - 40. Point is there are only 4 titles that are published trough decades. Detective Comics, Action Comics, Superman, and Batman. And they all are about the big two. And EVERYBODY knows who Superman and Batman are. So tell me this what is the point of canceling titles that are on shelves for last twelve months, and were just renumbered to be acessible to new readers ?
DC is trying to eat their cake, and have it too. And it will throw up this cake very soon.

Holy shit, that's one big ass reboot. I'm all for it though. I imagine the continuity just backed them into a boring corner by now.

Wait...didn't they already do that with Crisis on Infinite Earths? And then tried to do it again with Infinite crisis and then Final Crisis?

Crisis on Infinite Earths was in 1986 (I think) so they've had plenty of time to fuck up the continuanity since then. Infinite Crisis and Final Crisis wern't reboots...They were just fuck ups.

*sigh* I know. There are so many great characters that will be lost because they're origins are too complicated or something. Damien, Tim Drake and Superboy especially will be surely missed if they leave.

EDIT: Oh shit, just had a thought! If they get rid of Krypto the Superdog I'm going to be pissed!

So I see Cyborgs in there...guess that means there wont be any Teen Titans and the main members are A) goin to not exist, B) not be important at all (then again...most members of the titans were basically just death fodder), or C) be so different that they aren't even recognizable (can you imagine Beast Boy/Changeling's character without stuff like the Doom Patrol? Me either). I am disappoint.

Though if they do pop up as somethin other than a sad side show for the main supers I will gladly chuck my money at DC faster than anyones ever chucked money at them before.

Does this mean that Grayson isn't going to be Batman anymore? Shit. What about Blue Beetle? Is he going to be okay?

The ultimate series was the best idea Marvel have had in the last decade. Start it all from scratch get new people interesting in comics, so they don't have to go through all the bullshit continuity.
Sure. Right up until they decided to go with incest, make the retard choice of putting The Red Skull be Cap's father and then launch this:

The best idea Marvel had was Civil War. The only difficult continuity to ever get into, when it comes to Marvel, are The X-Men.

But, really? Reboot? Again? Isn't this, like, the 3rd time they pulled this?
