And I'm sure the measured and calm response from the Escapist forums won't at all paint EA as some sort of hybrid of Tyrell and Weyland-Yutani.
As for the news story...
I dunno. It sounds like a bit of a big target, but on the other hand they've made three games and it has yet to reach the sort of numbers that long running franchises like FF, ME or MW have (OMG.) Everyone is looking for the big numbers, and although Dead Space had the potential to be one of those mega-sellers, it's never quite made it. It just kind of sits there with a very respectable user base and some favourable reviews not doing much else. It hasn't spawned talks of a big-budget movie, it hasn't been in contention for most people's Game of the Year, it hasn't had widespread media coverage outside of the gaming world (a la Mass Effect, Modern Warfare)
Under the circumstances I think 3 games is probably quite a good run for any series. Trilogies are nice, they can be wrapped up neatly, and they provide enough for people to go back and play through again.
