I'm planning to get it as soon as it's out to be honest, I'll be in a new student house come October, and it'll be good times, especially if it's challenging.
I'll be awaiting reviews first: I almost never buy day one out of personal policy. I think it's a good policy to see what the reviews say.[/quote]

What I do now, is some games I'll wait for a review, some I won't. It's dependent on how much I've been following the game. Cursed Mountain I would wait for a review, Red Steel 2/No More Heroes 2/Modern Warfare 2/maaaybe Borderlands I won't.

So if you already have your heart set, you get it regardless? I don't share your carefree attitude in game purchasing. I certainly am interested in those games, but I might wait a week to purchase them to allow review time. Fourty or fifty dollars is a lot of money, and I want to be sure I get the most out of every penny.

Dudes...its Wii exclusive, jesus christ, what were you expecting? Hi def Blue ray quality? besides i have no knolledge of a wii game that attempted to push the graphics limits to the max, im getting this for the background story.
Legend of Zelda and Mario:Galaxy both looked fantastic on the Wii, Hell even SSBB was great looking. Madworld looked great as well. Just becuase it is on the Wii does not mean that it is condemned to be a bad looking game.

Anyway couldsomeone tell me when this game is set to be released. If it's not for a while then I'm sure that the Developers could brush the game up a bit.

There have been some new images on the Wii game Dead Space: Extraction. As the title suggest, it's not looking very pretty. I fact, it's very ugly. Here are some pictures:
"Man, I'm really looking ugly."

"Man, you look pretty fucked up", they say.

"Not even my blood looks realistic!"

"Freeze! You're not high-def enough to enter!"

Why is it this way? There are games with much better games on Wii, even Metroid Prime had better graphics than this. I know that the Wii has limitations, but this is just silly.

EDIT: Ops, sorry, accidentally put it in the wrong forum. Could the mods please move it?
They need to make another dead space, but not an on rails shooter -.-
3rd person shooter worked well for the series, why fucking change it?

TBH they dont look that terrible. Sure they dont blow me away but its above average for a Wii game. Id be more interested in how it plays Dead Space is one type of game that I think could work quite well with a Wiimote.

The thing is, those games are miles apart in terms of release. I tend to make enough money to get myself a decent game every now and then, it might as well be the one I'm clamouring for. And I haven't been disappointed in a game I've bought either on release (which isn't many) or without looking at a review. Maybe I have a good eye, or maybe it's something else, who knows?

P.S. I also find that sometimes certain reviews sour my opinions of certain games as well.

It still doesn't look as ugly as The Conduit

Besides what did you expect really? Just forget it and play the real Dead Space.

This is bad? Quite frankly I have no problem with this. At least they didn't do what they did with the Conduit and push the graphics so far that gameplay sucked. Yikes was that game horrible.

Yep, it's ugly. And I think people saying "graphics don't matter" are in denial. Graphics always matter. If I accept ugly graphics in a particular instance, it's because the game is great. I wouldn't bother with a lesser game that was ugly. In a horror action game, graphics matter more than in most other genres, because the game needs to keep you involved at a visceral level. RE4 for instance needed to look good, and it did.

The screenshots shown by OP are reminiscent of Half-Life from ten years back, running at a low resolution and without antialiasing. (No offense intended, Half-Life.)

It looks horrible and the original Dead Space looked fantastic. And I think this game will sell poorly, because most wii gamers aren't allowed to get games like these (that's why they have a wii) or they simply aren't into this sort of thing.

EA always seems to cut corners on their games.
Huh? I know they did in the past but wasn't Dead Space counted as one of the biggest and best surprises of 2008?

They've also moved on and doing decent projects and publishing a lot of good stuff.
Deadspace was a project worked mostly outside of EA's administrative interference. Once EA saw they had a possible milking franchise they stepped in and this occurs. Besides, every game they publish has DRM on it. That's not "good stuff".
So you label a game bad because it's got a bit of software that takes about a minute to deal with?

Makes sense.
What do you mean a minute to deal with? What program do you have that lets you remove any DRM like securom from a game?
I mean deal with during an install. Seriously, it doesn't have the slightest affect on me.
Thats not DRMs problem. There's a huge list of problems that I won't go into, because i can tell that Emphraim is just dieing to tell you what they are.

Anyway, yes, this game does look hidious. I really don't understand why so many people get away with releasing crap that looks like it's from a early PS2 game.

The Wii is capable so fucking much and no one seems to understand this. Look at Metroid Prime 3 or Mario Galaxy. These are not even games that use "artistic freedom" to make up for the Wii's so called short comings. These are games that you could get away with releasing on the 360. Nintendo can do it, so why not third party developers?!

The Wii is as powerful as the original xbox. You know what was ported to the Xbox? Mother fucking Half-Life 2! That's this generation graphics with a couple of iffy looking patches of dirt. The Wii has the protential to create some great games that look beautiful, but theres maybe 3 games on the Wii that even look remotely good looking.
HL2 on xbox? Wasn't it seriously downgraded in terms of looks and still suffered from a terrible frame rate?

I've often have games crash on me or fail randomly due to DRM. So I'm a bit paranoid. I paid $80 for Spore's collector's addition, only to have it randomly crash on my computer. Funny thing is, I torrented it off Demonoid and that version worked perfectly. A similar thing happened with Empire Total War.

This is why I'm a firm supporter of Stardock and will buy any game they make. Besides the fact that their games are some of the best I've played, they put no DRM at all on their games. Even CD keys are only needed for multiplayer content.
Alright well I guess that's just your experience, either I'm lucky or you're unlucky. My main point was that EA are now much better, and not just putting their money with immediate cash-ins. They've published Crysis (and Warhead), Mass Effect, Mirror's Edge, Dead Space, Spore, the Battlefield games, The Saboteur (coming out soon - looks good), etc.

Yes, before someone decides to point out they didn't make those games, I know, but they invested money in, and they're some of the highest scoring games in the last few years; Mirror's Edge and Spore not so much maybe but you can't ignore that EA are publishing some of the best games around, and not just shitty cash-ins.

My only concern is that they tend to try and buy out every single development/publishing studio known to man.

Seems that Dead Space is going down the Aliens path. Which makes sense considering how much it clearly idolises it. First installment, atmospheric, tense, well shot, well told, arguable classic and brilliant installment to the horror/tension genre. 2nd and every other installment following this, consists of gung ho "movemovemove america tis of thee mother fucker" action. Though has a charm in itself, will never be as good as the original. That and the wii is just a ps2 jumped up to look like a Mac.
