I'm surprised the thought even entered their mind. What the fuck were they thinking? Could it be that they just wanted some controversy as free publicity?

both of these.

i wouldn't have bought it in the first place, male or female torso provided, it just doesn't tickle my fancy, but really, to get your knickers in a twist that hard over a collectors edition statue?

Meh, I guess I just don't care enough these days about "being offended", but with it being a mature game and zombie tits flinging everywhere in movies anyways, i didn't think this would receive such an uplash. (I really hope there is a bunch of zombies that have that torso in the game now, would be hilarious to see the rages after the game was bought on such a simple thing.)
Being offended is the in thing to do in the gaming community these days. It really shows how young we are as a community and a medium. You know that one teenager on the playground that acts all pretentious and mature hoping the big boys and girls, the books and movies and TV will think we're part of the cool kids group?

We're that pretentious kid. While books, movies, TV and other forms of art have already accepted themselves as human, the good and the bad, we as a community refuse to accept that there may be some bad within us and try to sugar coat everything about ourselves as dandy and mature.

Books and movies willingly tackle heavy themes like life, death, gender, sex, rape, murder, philosophy, suicide, grief and so on, what do we tackle? The most effective way to mow down a dozen enemies with your chainsaw bayonet before running on to the next set piece. We are the equivalent of Saturday morning action cartoons because of it and we will stay that way until we as a community can do some growing up and stop considering ourselves moral guardians.

Guess I'm another of the select few, that don't understand the outrage. It's meat. So what. Is combining sex appeal with gore suddenly a taboo?

If any of these make it to retail they'll be worth some money. Collector's item for sure. Seems like it was a good idea to me.

Except you can't actually do that in Dead Island, you sleazy hack. Don't try and spin this like it was some kind of playful homage to the gameplay.
I love that part. So passive-aggressive. "We're soooo sorry that we made you this accurate representation of what you've been doing in our games. You monster. Yeah, we're sorry that we've exposed your hypocrisy. Terribly, flagellantly sorry. Deepest apologies, monster-that-has-asked-for-this."

I know theres alot of debate when it comes to wether or not somethings sexist but for me, the nail in that particular coffin is (and I know it seems kind of cold to hold this above morales/concideration) wether or not something is stupid... this is really, REALLY fucking stupid, who the fuck would want that!?

They honestly seem surprised that the actions we take in video games aren't the ones we want reproduced in real life. I think this inference insults me far more than the actual product; at least I can ignore the product.

Ok, I have a question for you folks:

Would you buy this? And if so, would you still buy it if it were a male torso?

I'm not judging anyone, I'm genuinely curious.
Gender makes no difference to me. I can't say this product would appeal to me in any form. If I wanted a collectible item from a game that I enjoyed it would more than likely be something positive, probably a statuette of the hero or a supporting character. This is just so blatantly repulsive; I would gain no emotional benefit from having it in my home.

Is it wrong I think the torso is cute and I want one?
I don't really see a problem with it except maybe people in Britain might get upset that their flag is a bikini.
Dude/dudette, you never seen the Spice Girls? Thats just a thing over here.

No, its not smart or creative, theres games I play were the sex appeals a 'thing' but this... thats just crap, un-imaginative, not funny... I just don't see who thought this up... and what the point is... I GOT NOTHING!

So if it was a DUDE, folks wouldn't be up in arms?

Damn sexists!
You know who's been considered a trophy, a thing to look at, a lump of primary sexual characteristics, a faceless object with no agency, to be sold throughout history?

Not dudes.

I would buy it if it was male, female or Cthulhu shaped. I think its kind of silly to look at and it would be nice to have on my currently barren shelf.

And if they released a brutalized male lower half I'd be even happier cuz then I can mix and match :D

What on Earth were they thinking?

It isn't because it's sexist, it's because how stupid and untasteful this thing is.

I mean come the fuck on, it is truth that male torso wouldn't bring such an uproar, but do you really think that guys that made this had thoughts like: "Well equality you see! These kind of things happens to girls too!" -No. Of course not. It was if anything on the level of: "Hey! Look! Blood & Gore & TITS!".

I can see why this is controversial, but I'm not offended by it. I've seen attractive girls dead/dismembered on screen before (Mortal Kombat has fatalities that essentially turn a female character into that thing).

All the same, I'd never buy it because, even if I'm okay with it existing, I have no use for it, or for collectible figures in general. That and I find zombies to be mind-numbingly boring unless they're surrounded by interesting characters, e.g. Last of Us or Left 4 Dead.

Meh, no big loss there. I think people completely blew it out of proportion. They were calling is misogynistic and pornographic, and they all looked like morons doing it. They were referring to it as oversexualized and sexist(which says a lot more about them than it does the piece). People even tried saying that torso sculptures don't actually exist, which isn't remotely true. That said, it's a god awful ugly piece and I don't know why anyone would want to own one. It's fine that it exists as it's completely in the context of the game. The internet is far too sensitive anymore. As a person formally educated in Fine Arts, I'm glad the internet didn't exist for the vast majority of human history. When push comes to shove, this piece has incited far more emotional reaction than a great many things sitting in museums. The original sculptor should be proud, to be honest. But still, god awful ugly.
