I don't feel offended at all! In fact I agree with them 100% - and so does my girlfriend, who likes my geekiness for the above reasons.
Hmm, is there a dice roll that would apply to sex? I would think that you would do a d20 roll and add your Constitution AND Charisma rolls, but I might be wrong...

And well, to be fair, males are far more likely to exhibit Asperger's or Autism in a way that their symptoms can be related to as hyper-developed traits that share analogues with "geeks," or at least, the mainstream idea of what a geek is.
Not to mention, men are in general far more pre-disposed to obsessing over statistics, hierarchies, systems, and frameworks than women are. Whether it's nature or culture, it's the good ol' quantitative vs. qualitative dichotomy.

I'm not really offended, mostly because I don't fit every facet of their definition of Geek apparently. I'm not that big on sci-fi, therefore, I don't fit about half of the generalization. Of course, I get the odd feeling no one does. Another article to ignore fellas, but if it gets you some attention, congrats.
there's not even any field research on the groups of "geek." sad thing about stereotypes is that, various exceptions aside, they're true. There's no Social Loner, no Gaming Pro wannabe, no Otaku, no "insert expletive here" Messed Up that enjoys the company of the groups above, and no etc. This is just insulting, clumping us together into one homogenous lump... arg. While there might be some truths in that piece, how it is written just comes off as aggravatingly smug and self-serving. To quote a so called geeky line, "I Have Fury!!!"

Spot on. With the technical revolution over the past years the word geek has been suitable to several new kinds of persons. It's not the smart guy spending all his time going to conventions for old TV shows anymore. It's mostly all of us. The internet is growing and making the work geek suitable to a lot of new kinds of persons. I'm a geek and I'm not ashamed to admit, but I don't fit that stereotype at all.
