In my experience, the only people who make great lovers are the ones who are not only great listeners, but are comfortable with completely expressing themselves as well.

It doesn't matter if they play or don't play video games or whatever other activity society wants to pigeonhole social groups into.

:)
Well said and welcome to the Escapist.

Any group will have a diverse range of skills as lovers. Also, I find it amusing that men are the "geeks" by default.

I don't feel offended at all! In fact I agree with them 100% - and so does my girlfriend, who likes my geekiness for the above reasons.

Hmm, is there a dice roll that would apply to sex? I would think that you would do a d20 roll and add your Constitution AND Charisma rolls, but I might be wrong...

Oh, and that was an entertaining little article, although it generalizes a bit too much.

Thanks!

And well, to be fair, males are far more likely to exhibit Asperger's or Autism in a way that their symptoms can be related to as hyper-developed traits that share analogues with "geeks," or at least, the mainstream idea of what a geek is.

Not to mention, men are in general far more pre-disposed to obsessing over statistics, hierarchies, systems, and frameworks than women are. Whether it's nature or culture, it's the good ol' quantitative vs. qualitative dichotomy.

Haha! Yeah that's gotta be satire, right?

Actually, it's probably even funnier if it isn't.
I don't think it is...
Sadly
You mean hilariously. Sometimes peoples ignorance is so great it's actually funny.

If a girlfriend ever tried to blow off sex by making me watch TV, she better be prepared to fail, pretty funny otherwise though. It sucks though that if you like video games then most of the time you're automatically considered a nerd/geek.

I'm not really offended, mostly because I don't fit every facet of their definition of Geek apparently. I'm not that big on sci-fi, therefore, I don't fit about half of the generalization. Of course, I get the odd feeling no one does. Another article to ignore fellas, but if it gets you some attention, congrats.

there's not even any field research on the groups of "geek." sad thing about stereotypes is that, various exceptions aside, they're true. There's no Social Loner, no Gaming Pro wannabe, no Otaku, no "insert expletive here" Messed Up that enjoys the company of the groups above, and no etc. This is just insulting, clumping us together into one homogenous lump... arg. While there might be some truths in that piece, how it is written just comes off as aggravatingly smug and self-serving. To quote a so called geeky line, "I Have Fury!!!"

Ignorance: making me lose faith in humanity since 1994.
Wait.. there's something else besides ignorance?
Because the way you said it made it seem so
Their is willful ignorance which is worse than regular ignorance. Cause willful ignorance is someone not accepting something even though many people tell them differently.

This is both offensive and incredibly correct. I hope more women start looking into geeks. Although, I could do without the "happy to actually be near a living, breathing, fleshy human female" generalization...

Too much generalization. When you think about it, the definitions of "Geek" are not the same. What is a geek? a person who plays video-games and has a computer? tell that to the jocks on a College campus.
Spot on. With the technical revolution over the past years the word geek has been suitable to several new kinds of persons. It's not the smart guy spending all his time going to conventions for old TV shows anymore. It's mostly all of us. The internet is growing and making the work geek suitable to a lot of new kinds of persons. I'm a geek and I'm not ashamed to admit, but I don't fit that stereotype at all. Just like the cake that article is a lie.

It got a little too condescending at times, but the positive gist of it (more likely to pay attention to the woman's needs while not being overly dominating) is something I agree with...though it naturally depends on the nature and needs of both people and the relationship.

I don't know whether to be offended or flattered... Meh. Doesn't matter anyway. I'm always the 'good friend' anyway.
