Well, it's a comedy game. So you should expect at least SOME of the characters to have annoying voices. I thought the main character was quite good, not quite on the level of Monkey Island's Dominic Armato, but I warmed to him as the game went on.Smilomaniac said:I could use some information about the voice acting.
When I saw this on Steam I was so close to just buying it, from the premise and pictures alone, but when I saw the trailer and heard the main character, it instantly turned me off.
Is the main actor at least bearable to listen to throughout the game?
How're the rest of the people in it?
Yes, it's from King's Quest though I'm not a huge fan of the series. It's more that a walk icon just seemed symbolic of my favorite gaming genre. And yes, this game is WAY easier than any King's Quest game. All the puzzles were logical, the game throws subtle hints at you, and it helps being able to bring up all the interactive items on the screen. Is your avatar from Kings Quest?Blood Brain Barrier said:I'm interested in what specifically the reviewer found to be 'tough brainteasers'. The game was pretty easy, I got through it in three evenings without a walkthrough.
If so, it's no wonder you found it easy. The old-school adventure games were insanely difficult to figure out, at least for kids.
In most adventure games, the puzzles seem non-sensical most of the time anyway, combining what seems like random items to progress. I like a challenge, but it was kind of a hassle when things made no sense.
Seeing the lyrics wouldn't really do it for you, in fact it'd probably just look weird and nonsensical. Like the game itself, the theme song (and the similar between-chapter songs) are all about presentation, and the singer absolutely kills it.Alexnader said:Don't suppose anyone has a link to the song Andy mentions at the start of the review? Browsing through the soundtrack on YT now, German words!
Translation: don't buy it.While these threads may be explained in a sequel - and yes, the conclusion leaves that door wide open - the lack of a resolution after so much obvious build-up is a little disappointing.
FFS: make up your mind!Andy Chalk said:Oh, the ending is perfectly satisfactory. Deponia works fine as a standalone game. The developers just left themselves some very obvious opportunities for future games.
Or maybe we're just choosy about the games we review and honestly like them that much. Nah, couldn't be that. So much more fun to call us cowards.Metalhandkerchief said:On a side note: anyone else notice that Escapist have given all games the past two months 4/5? Smells like cowardice to me. Even Sleeping Dogs which the writer made it sound like more of a 3.
