Whenever I think of gold and black, I picture bees. Doesn't sit too well with my apiphobia...

It doesn't look bad, but I hope it doesn't become overpowering or even fade from the senses as you play it for a long time. 'course, it's more Deus Ex, ergo me want!

But Wall Street taught us that gold symbolizes greed!
And greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind.

Can you see now?
The fourth circle of hell might disagree with you on the "Greed is a good thing" idea
And since when did a poet with a level of arrogance to rival that of Stephen King, have the final say in what constitutes a "circle of hell" (whatever that is)?

Riveting tale, ole chaps. But you see...'gold and black' symbolizes two very distinct related facets of everyday life as well - 'piss and shit' :D

I like the look of it to be honest. I like that it's visually distinct. But when artists and developers or anyone advocating something gets into the overanalyzing business eh...the border between self-fascination and pretentiousness gets very hard to discern sometimes. ;)

Dude, if your shit is black, you need to see a doctor.

That typically means you're shitting congealed blood. Which can mean anything from an intestinal bleed to a tumor.

OT: Also, are they saying everyone in the world chose gold colored lighting because they wanted it to represent "hope and the "promise of better selves,"" and the shadows were also chosen and specifically placed to represent "cyberpunk dystopia and people suffering?"

I think cliffyB should choke to death on an overly muscled cock, but to paraphrase him, video gaming is currently about creating worlds. Symbolism does not, in any way, shape, or form, fit with that. You say it means something, the people in the world say gold light bulbs were on sale.

How was he so arrogant? I would be quite surprised if you were able to get a good feel for Dante's mind fram considering how long ago he lived. If you're gonna call him arrogant, explain it whiel you're at it

And Yes, and a circle of hell is basically like a "level" of hell, used to separate the damned based on their sin.

Side note! If you're gonna make judgement calls and say the man was too arrogant to define the circles of hell, don't make ther accusation if you didn't know what the levels were.

The circles of hell are mentioned in the bible briefly (the seven deadly sins), but there are NINE circles to hell as many catholic philosophers and poets have believed. So he's not the only one

I thought that sepia tones are used to make images look softer and more antique. I wasn't aware that any one colour represents hope but green is associated with rebirth. But what do I know.

Can't wait for this game, I loved the first one. Lets just hope the PC version, which most likely will be a console port, is stable.

Looks like a nice change from the usual cyberpunk aesthic, their holy trinity of metal/neon/grunge puts me right off the genre.

Interesting read to say the least ^~^''. Deus Ex 3 is one game I will be getting for sure! I'm totally stoked to play it >~<! Though for me, this is another example why video games can be quite artsy. Using colors in such an abstract way, is the mark of a work of art.

I don't give a crap about symbolism, needs moar blue.
Agreed. I thought we'd grown out of painting everything the same colour in games?

What if the games colour palette dynamically changes to your actions!? Now that'd be cool.

Honestly after the crap that was shoveled to me that was Invisible War the cyberpunk noir vibe I'm getting from this game really excites me. I want this game to be good, do good and give me an honest to god reason to put money into a new computer.

Pfft... what use is "symbolism" in the color choice if it looks crap :/ . The blue color scheme in DX1 looked good while being chosen out of necessity (game plays at night so they could get around certain lighting conditions).
