Consider this an intrigued potential buyer. I've played a little bit of the original Deus Ex and it was pretty annoying to play, at least from what I've played. Though I wasn't using an optimized PC, regardless I hate it when PC titles never elaborate on anything.

But whatever, this does look interesting and I'll definitely keep track of it.
Going back ten years, I think the risk was for people to treat Deus Ex like a run-and-gun shooter along the lines of Doom or Half Life. This didn't necessarily work well when your character had essentially just completed basic training and had minimum skill in handling a pistol.

To give people an example, consider the crosshairs that games typically have for aiming. In most games, you aim with the mouse, perhaps leading the target a bit, and then click to shoot. In Deus Ex, you aim with the mouse, but your crosshairs start wavering slightly because you're unsteady with the weapon. So you were passable with your starting pistol, but you certainly weren't of James Bond's level of skill.

It was mainly that after the pretty brief tutorial explaining little I had no idea what I was doing or where I was going. This is a problem for me with many PC games, it's the main reason why I never knew that, in Team Fortress 2, you could hold down the mouse button to propel the Sticky grenade farther, or that I had no idea what the stats on my character meant in STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyll. Just a pet peeve of mine in PC games.
