HAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh wow....blaming it on not enough buttons. I remember the original Duke Nukem 3D came out on Saturn, PSX and N64. They didn't have trouble mapping weapon selection there, did they?

An even if they think that is an excuse, use the FUCKING TUROK 2 WEAPON WHEEL! Just hold the fucking weapon change button pressed an select your weapon form your circle. Easy. At least they indirectly admitted they ripped off Halo.
Yeah it's ridculous. even the duke nukem 3d port on the 360 had a good arsenal.
And even if the to little buttons for a fun arsenal thing wasn't proven wrong by any designer worth their pay, why replace the mighty boot with the halo melee system when the mighty boot is still in the cutscenes :D

Well, that's Gearbox for you.

I like their attitude - at least, the one their games portray - but their claims are always grandoise and borderline vaporware.

I'll see how well it does once it's released, as I don't preorder from them.

Funny that Gearbox says console games can't handle more than two guns yet on Borderlands, made by the same company and also released on consoles, you could carry over 40 guns without any real problem.

Didn't Fallout 3 and NV have a hotkey system? Same with Gears Of War, Bulletstorm, Prototype (well in Prototype you switched between different weapon forms but it still counts), Half Life and many other games?

Me thinks Gear Box is looking for a cheap way out...and it isn't working.

Still i'll wait till i finally play it to make a judgement.

What the hell? Borderlands' weapon system let you switch between your four weapons or use the D-pad, and Gearbox should know this since they made the fucking game. Unbelievable.

You do know there are MANY console games where you can have more than 2 weapons? Half Life 2 had it, along with Fallout 3 and NV.

Stop raging. Now.

Maybe they were using the d-pad for the peeing on your enemies game mechanic, and only realized they needed them for weapon swapping after they'd spent ten weeks flailing Duke's dick around the screen.

I'll cop the 2 weapon system....but NO MIGHTY BOOT?!?

What were they thinking? The Mighty Boot almost IS Duke Nukem!

Most people dissappointed with the DNF demo complained about some very odd design desicions.
First of all you can only have 2 weapons and switch them in a copy of the halo 1 system. this doesn't really work as 3d realms level design requires you to rapidly change qwickly between multiple weapons.
Also the "mighty boot" was replaced by halos melee system.

Here's a Devs response to the topic:

They dumbed the amount of weapons down because of a lack of buttons on controllers and while they where alright with doing tweaks for the consoles they where to lazy to fix DNF for keyboard and mouse and allow the cut features on pc.

DNF was really damaged by the multiplatform release, a selection wheel for consoles would have worked in my opinion but hey now the design is bad on both platforms for blandness sake.
Avoid, get Alice or Deus ex. the deus ex team apparantly gave a shit.

I canceled, my DNF preorder the moment i got my hands on the demo, no wonder they held off till June 3rd. Is Deus ex, any good? i never heard of that video game before-just asking?
There was a review knocking around the other day - check the review forum. The reviewer loved it, said it was sufficiently complex and in-depth to really engage the play, had huge variety in ways to play, a decent amount of character upgrades and progression, good character personality, good graphics - in short, looking to be a fantastic game.

If you're still after a fun, insane shooter then check out Serious Sam 3. It sounds like they are doing a better job of sticking to what they are good at, and the first two games were great fun (huge demo available on Steam of the first Serious Sam upgraded to better graphics.)

THE 2 WEAPONS LIMIT WASN'T GEARBOX'S DECISION,BUT A DECISION TAKEN BY 3D REALMS,THE GUYS WHO WENT BANKRUPT SO STOP BLAMING GEARBOX.
Gearbox just got random levels made by 3D Realms, they aligned them together and fixed some bugs..
You shouldn't complain to Gearbox for gameplay or design decisions,as the only thing Gearbox did was to place the already made by 3D Realms levels in an order, fix some bugs, and make the multiplayer.
The 2 weapon system, health regeneration etc are 3D Realms's decisions.

Wait, what?... They dumbed down the amount of weapons due to controller restraints? I remember Resistance: Fall of Man have a weapon wheel that worked quite well. As for the mighty boot... I'm assuming thats some kind of kick?. Like the one in Bulletstorm maybe?.... What the hell..
Exactly same as half life 2 on consoles, ratchet and clank and several other games they were just being lazy.

huh? what's that? DNF Is a bland boring FPS with poor design choices?

I am one the few people who thought thats how it was going to be just from viewing the trailers? Because it sure surprises me the amount of "DNF isn't a good game! gasp!" threads that have been popping up.

Glad I've still got my money.

I don't care for the game. But this doesn't read as a problem with porting the game to consoles, seems more like a cop out from the developers. These problems are easily adaptable. They obviously didn't care enough.
Honestly, the more I read about this, the more interested I am in the final results. The critical reception will be worth keeping an eye out for.

I new about that back when they released the first trailer after the teaser which showed a god-awful Duke Nukem character model. The trailer showed him with only two weapons and never kicking.
I still bought it anyway, for laughs. Besides, I got it on PC so it could probably be modded.

In the later half of the video posted by Admiral Stokov, Duke is killing Pig-men (those aren't cops) and he says "Porkchop Sandwiches"

...

It took me about 10 seconds to remember that video and I find that kind of sad...and at 30:09 he mentions a freaking crowbar?! GAH! You have a boot dumb-ass!!

It's impossible to dumb down a Duke nukem game. That would be like trying to kill a dead person.

Besides, plenty of console games allow for more than two weapons. Bioshock had... what, seven? Hell, even Bulletstorm let you carry four.
