What are your opinions on the new twist with Devil may cry 5? If what i've heard is correct, they have pretty much reset the series in order to put it back on track. Dante has a new look and personality (which has cause A LOT of controversy). So what do you think of this?

we will have to wait and see. the trailer isnt very informative at all. i personally think he looks alright and the game looks fun as hell. his personality has been given one line and it seemed alright too.

It's a perfect example of gamers shooting themselves in the foot. Lemme explain, because I find this hilarious.

When DMC4 came out, some of you may remember that fans were outraged because not only did the series not star Dante anymore, but Nero looked so much like him it raised the question of why replace him at all.

But now DMC is starring Dante again...and now he looks nothing like Dante...and once again people are complaining.

Game companies can't win.

But yeah, admittedly we don't have a lot of info. Maybe there's some secret twist where it's not actually Dante and it's a crazy guy, or a possessed guy, or who knows

I dunno if I'll buy it on release date, but once it gets knocked down to 20 bucks at Wal-Mart (as it inevitably will) I may pick it up

speaking as somebody that has only played Devil May Cry 4, i'm really curious as to what the series plans to do to make me buy this one, i've just seen the one trailer for dmc5, and everything except Dante is brown, Dante looks like a heroin junkie, and the combat looks fun as ever, let's wait and see if i still think so later on in developement

and as for when i'll get it, I just got dmc4 a few months ago for $15 at a local store that was going out of business, so i don't know where i stand in terms of what i'll pay for it, but i'll probably wait until it's at least below $60

You make some good points here, and I find your observation funny!
Definitely can't win when half the fan base doesn't even know what they want anyhow lol.
Give them Dante and they want something different, Give them something different and they want dante. Perhaps a trailer that keeps them in the grey area is what is called for!

And in the same light, I'll also being buying the game once it hits the $20 range as like you said, will happen in due time.

I'm with you on the note of just waiting to find out because I too find a bit of fun in the trailer but its really not enough information to go off of by far.

I don't see what's so difficult to get about designing a DMC game.

We want Dante, we don't want some random whiny new charatcer, and we don't want some horrific looking reboot.

We want Dante, wise cracking sword-wielding, badass. We want to kick ass in a stylish manner while listening to Dante be overly cocky to everything in his way.

If that's not what we get then we get pissed off... it's a lot more simple than people are making it out to be.

I think if it's a prequel, which I'm guessing it is, it could be quite good. Whiney heroin junkie Dante could very well turn into goofy pizza junkie Dante by the end of the game. I'm reserving judgement 'til it actually comes out. I will say, graphics look gorgeous.

I think the personality is far more crazy like, thus usually offering more entertaining fights. So in that alone I have hope for more freedom in the combat scene. You are pretty accurate with the heroin depiction, but needless to say, thats one badass crazy heroin addict xD

People would still complain, I guarantee it. The complaints would be different, but they'd still do it. Maybe you wouldn't, maybe I wouldn't, maybe the dude who posted above me wouldn't

But people would.

Like I said, game companies can't win. People will always find something to complain about.

Well you have given me the oppertunity to hope for a goofy pizza boy dante, thank you! xD
And I agree, Gorgeous Graphics that make my eyes jealous!

All in all, though i'm hoping to see the return of our beloved badass cocky demon killer; I'm interested in seeing how they would alter our demon filled world depictions.

Not this.

Or this.

There, now you know what the fanbase wants.

But the amount of people who would complain to having a proper Dante in the next DMC is minuscule to the amount of hate they've got for this awful looking reboot.

So, no heroin addicts or Dante imposters. Well said, thanks for the pictures to illustrate your point :D

And I agree really, I do love seeing new unfamiliar things but I can't quite say I want them to mess with my badass Demon killer. In most planets, thats called a party foul!

We all go through that teenage angsty phase before we grow up, get jobs and realize how much more fun life can be if you're just cheerful about it. Who's to say Dante's any exception?

Also, the fact that 'classic Dante' is alive and well in MvC3 makes me think that whiney little ***** Dante won't end up replacing him. Sadly, steroids Chris Redfield has apparently replaced classic Chris Redfield. Oh well, can't win them all.

Don't even mention Christ Redfield >.> (sore topic full of upset disappointment and enough rage to fuel another umbrella company in hopes for a revision)

And your right now that I,too, lend some though to it. he was just fine in MvC3 so perhaps thats evidence enough.

Oh the fun of thinking what jobs Dante could of possibly had as an "angsty" youthful potential kid.

Personally. I think the look makes sense. It's set when he was a kid.

And like it or not. A new game that was exactly like the last 4 wouldn't have sold. They're re-booting the series. Not literally. But close enough.

This is probably exaclty what the series needed so it didn't get stale......er
I'm not a 100% sure of this but wasn't DMC bought by a new company or director? something like occured or so forth that caused the new owners desire to "fix" the series due to the messed up chronological order and dead beaten horse orientation.

Hehe, sorry. Sore topic for me too. Also a sore topic that LEON KENNEDY IS NOT IN MvC3 WTF CAPCOM.... but I digress. Yeah, I'm not worried. His hair is going white in the trailer, he's got a red coat... *in a proud momma voice* I think he's gonna turn out just fine *sniffle*

Also, now that I think about it. Maybe he's angsty 'cuz his mom died, his dad's a demon and his twin brother's a douchebag? (albeit a cool one). Idk, but there's plenty of room for them to flesh out a coming of age story while allowing us to mince lots of demons.
