Yahtzee left the Australian politician's e-mail in his Demon's Souls edition of Extra Punctuation. Has anyone e-mailed him?

This was my message:

Dear Mr. Atkinson,

I have recently come across the information that you believe that only a small number of very zealous gamers would be in favour of the R18 rating of video games. While these decisions have no direct impact on me (as I am Canadian) I feel it is a mistake to deprive Australians of the benefits and enjoyment that some games provide.
While some games may appear to be mindless violence, there are plenty that encourage thought and creativity. Perhaps the best example of this is my favourite series, Silent Hill. Each entry in the series have earned Mature (17+) ratings due to mature content and violence. However, these games also feature interesting and complex stories, characters with unique personalities which we, the players can identify with, and amazing soundtracks. While I believe it is necessary to put restrictions on games, (such as ratings that prohibit the sale to minors) I also believe it is wrong to deprive people of entertainment and potential benefits that games offer.
I admire Australia as a country and a people, but I believe this would be a huge step in the wrong direction. Censorship is detrimental to democracy. Please consider my e-mail.

Thanks,

Not sure if that's sarcasm.

But thanks. :p

I didn't put a huge amount of thought into it, as I figured he'd be receiving a flurry of e-mails and would just delete them all.

I emailed him, was told I would get a response in the mail. Never came. I guess it is because my address isn't in his seat of Croydon ;)

I would but being 16, anything I say would probably be more detrimental to getting an R rating in Australia rather than helpful

Why bother? He, like Jack Thompson, does not subscribe to the same kind of logic normal human beings do. He will ignore it, or delete it, and any effort spent trying to convince him to see reason will be utterly wasted.

Dear Mr. Atkinson,

I respect your right to have an opinion, but not your right to impose it on others. The "vocal minority" is telling you to SUCK IT.

I actually tracked down that address about a month ago.
I sent him an e-mail which told him how I felt but which I still felt was rather polite.

I never got an answer, the lazy ****.

That's not going to help give us an R18+ rating...

Assuming he doesn't delete it as soon as he sees it's not from a constituent. Or, for that matter, as soon as he sees the subject. I can't see him having a lot of patience for this.

No, I can't say I did.

While I do support the good fight in Australia I don't live there and I'm somewhat certain they wouldn't give a shit what some random Yank has to say on the topic.

What with our violent television/movies, firearms and flash dancing [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McxBVDwnrNc] and such.

i sent an email to all of the AGs, and not all of them have gotten back yet, and some want me to post it before i reply.

if you are going to send an email, dont abuse him. say you think his decision is wrong, and outline why.
