55,000 at the height of the cold war....Calbeck said:That's today. At the height of the Cold War, there were over 55,000. Then there were Strategic Arms Limitation Talks (SALT) during the '70s and '80s which greatly reduced the US/USSR stockpile, followed by the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1990.razing32 said:There don't seem to be more than about 23000 nukes in the world today.
None of this happened in the Fallout Universe. For that matter, because the big boogeyman in Fallout is China, we never hear about what the Soviets were doing.
Not if America and china had miltary bases thereNimbus said:Europe? Would be weird if Europe got hit.
Do you know the halflife of plutonium? I mean neither do I but you should check that out if you want to make cliams like that.John the Gamer said:But the fallout 3 timeline excists 200 years after the war. so radiation should have vleared by now, but in Fallout 3 every bit of wate is irradiated. pretty strange.
according to wikipedia, depending on the isotope of plutonium it ranges from 84 years (238pu) to 8,080,000 years (244pu).Icarion said:Not if America and china had miltary bases thereNimbus said:Europe? Would be weird if Europe got hit.

that's pretty much why the game is called Fallout. Fallout is really the killer in a nuclear explosion, and it can effect areas of hundreds of miles outside the actual blast radius, depending on the winds.razing32 said:Even if no nukes hit, radiation would have definitely hit everywhere.
The radioactive cloud from Chernobyl affected a lot of Europe and that was just a reactor, not a purpose built bomb.
At least a bomb kills you on sight, without making you have to go through radiation poisoning...
Denmark would be overlooked for the same reason that fruit flies can survive in the microwave ovenHeadcap said:Denmark prolly, as it's in the middle between china and US (sorta)
WOOHOO
I'M GOING TO SURVIVE THE NUCLEAR WAR US VS CHINA
(oh... Nukes? fuck...)
lol, yeah, a "Lead Miner" certainly has a long an illustrious life ahead of him.razing32 said:I got it ...
If anyone here is a lead-miner you can be sure you'll survive !
Yeah ok I see your point, but remember that Both countries wanted to fuck each other up as much as possible so they'd probably try to get the long lasting isotopeAltorin said:according to wikipedia, depending on the isotope of plutonium it ranges from 84 years (238pu) to 8,080,000 years (244pu).Icarion said:Not if America and china had miltary bases thereNimbus said:Europe? If it's the 84 year halflife isotope, most of the radiation present in fallout would dissipate in about 200 years. *shrug*
Chernobyl, its in Ukraine, just 100 km from capital - Kiev. It's not comparible to nukes, nukes leave much smaller fallout.Christopher N said:...Australia maybe...I think, it pretty far off but then again radiation from that incident with the power plant in russia, cher-something i can't quite recall the name
