Mass Effect's hardest difficulty gives almost every enemy in the game master immunity
meaning that 90% of the time, every enemy you fight has 80% damage resistance on top of what they'd normally have.
it's a little ridiculous
That's mostly just the Krogan, but it means that the ones you do fight are able to magically restore their life as soon as you kill them. Biotics are absolutely essential to playing on that difficulty, but even then it's ridiculously hard in some situations. That Krogan Battlemaster on Therum, the one with the unskippable cutscene before him? The one you fight where the only cover will kill you every ten seconds or so if you're too close to it? The one where snipers will kill you in one hit every time if you don't immediately take them out? Not to mention that the Battlemaster has a habit of charging you and meleeing you to death in two hits maximum? Yeah, pure hate. I attempted that for about two hours straight before finally beating it.
I played through it with a soldier, Garrus and Wrex.. so very little biotics.
and it's not just the krogan. The humans that you fight that aren't designated as biotics or snipers will also pop Immunity instantly when you start fighting them.
And I was playing a purely tank Shock Trooper, so all those problems like "Sniper killing you in one hit" or "Meleeing you to death in 2 hits maximum", even on insanity I didn't have a problem.
Thresher Maws take like 5 melee hits to kill my soldier shep when he has immunity up, and because its cooldown is shorter then its duration, I can keep it up indefinitely..
I wouldn't suggest the character build on the whole though, just because he does piss damage..
still, LOTS of immunity using enemies in Insanity.. the hardest part of the game for me in that mode was the thorian, just because I did such piss poor damage, the creepers just became too much a lot of the time.. just had to go slow and kill everything, and use a lot of sledgehammer rounds.
