This is what happened in the Spring of 1903.

I need a retreat order from the Logician for his army in Marsailles, which shouldn't take long. Once I have that I'll post the slightly adjusted map. In the meantime, orders for the next turn are due Saturday afternoon; if you're plans will be affected by where the Logician retreats to, you might want to wait on sending in orders until then.

It is now Fall of 1903.

EDIT: A Mar retreated to Bur. Map has been adjusted.

Aren't you supposed to say that by PM Logician?
Does it matter?
Not particularly. Since this was the only retreat this turn, knowing where A Mar is retreating to won't really affect where other people choose to retreat to. And this way people know earlier where it's moving and can thus get on with their own plotting instead of having to wait for me to edit the map, which might have taken a while since I'm going to bed soon. it was sheer luck that I decided to check the thread one more time before logging off for the night.

So in this case posting it in the thread instead of by PM doesn't really matter, and was actually a better choice.

Carry on with your plotting.

Sorry I'm late. I was waiting for someone to get their orders in last night, got fed up with waiting, calculated the results, got the map on Imageshack, and then struggled to get enough of an internet connection to post the results. When I did, I discovered that he had sent his orders in while I was trying to post the results. And he had a good excuse, the scum. I didn't like posting results with him in civil disorder when he did get orders in (albeit incredibly late orders), but I didn't want to try and get back on imageshack and load the new map, then get back to the Escapist and post the results, so I went to bed. That was at 12:00 last night.

So in other words, you can blame BoVinE and the internet connection on my laptop for the late results today. Fortunately enough I'm back on my PC, which does have a good internet connection.

Now, for the (belated) results of Fall 1903.

I need retreat orders for the following units:
Italy: A Mar
Turkey: F Ion
Austria: A Ser

Turkey captured Serbia but lost Rumania. No change.
Austria captured Tunis but lost Venice and Serbia. Disband one unit.
Italy lost Tunis. Disband one unit.
Russia recaptured Rumania. One build.
Germany captured Venice. One build.
England and France neither captured nor lost any supply centers.

Get retreat and build orders in to me as soon as you can and we can move on to Spring 1904.

Well, I'm still waiting on some build orders. In the meantime, here's the retreats from Fall 1903.

A Mar-Pie
F Ion-Eas
A Ser-Tri

Now, I have some bad news for you all. The Logician has PMed me saying that he would like to stop playing Diplomacy, citing a number of reasons that I won't go into here because quite frankly his reasons are his own. However, that does put me into a bit of difficulty, in that it seems I no longer have a player for France.

That can be solved. I know there are some people floating around here who wanted to play but couldn't, either due to finding the thread late or other reasons. If one of you guys wants to finish this game as France, send me a PM and you can play.

In the meantime, I still need build orders from Germany and Russia.

Because I'd join but only at the start as well, this all seems far over my head. That or it's just me skimming, and I've never heard of diplomacy before.

"Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake."

Personally, I really don't mind, but I'd hate for people to have a move they hadn't predicted pointed out before the turn had ended. After the turn commentary on the previous would be cool though.

BoVine speaks the truth. It just ain't right for a mistake to be corrected by up-to-the-minute commentary. Having said that, I just love commentary, so feel free to make it as long as it's about past turns (and not about their future ramifications).

True. If England took the English channel, it could ferry across an army with two fleets in support and take Spain. It has many opportunities.
Yes I could do that(I play as England), but the logician asked my permission, and thusly I had no real reason to take the english channal back. Opening hostility when my portugal fleet is lonely down there.

but really noone want to join a game in action?

Oh, oh, I'll be John Madden:
Now what you have to do in diplomacy is take countries and supply centers, and if you keep taking supply centers, you'll win the game but if you stop *BOOM* you won't win!

So, apperantly a couple of Diplomacy commentators spawned from the woodwork. A two-edged sword, this: on the one hand, commentary would be interesting. On the other hand, if you start informing people of what might happen in the next turn and you tell them something they didn't notice for themselves, that's not really fair.

So you can commentate only if you restrict yourselves to the previous turn. No speculation about what is to come, or at least keep it to a minimum.

Also, you can only do it if you spell my name right. There's only one e.

Now, on to other things...I think I've gotten a new player for France. Nobody PMed me, since it seems nobody's crazy enough to join a game halfway through (curse your common sense!) so I dragged one of my meatspace friends out from under his rock and asked if he might want to take over. He agreed disturbingly quickly. So unless anyone else really wants to jump in and sends me a PM soon, I'll announce the new player's screenname this afternoonish, along with the build map.

Gentlemen, everything has been settled. Here is the map with the builds and disbandments for 1903.

Italy: F Wes disbands
Austria: A Apu disbands
Russia: Build A Sev
Germany: Build A Mun

I received a PM earlier today that solves our problem: we have a new player to replace the Logician as commander of the French forces.

The new French commander is MeatSpace [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/new_message?to=MeatSpace]. Play will continue as usual, though any agreements you had with the former commandant might not hold with the new one.

It is now Spring of 1904.

Next orders are due on Thursday afternoon. Best of luck to you all.

I may or may not get the results up later tonight, depending on if I get everyone's orders and if the internet on my laptop is working.

If I can't post them tonight, it might be a while before I can get back on. As in, most of tomorrow.

I just wanted to warn you all first, because the last time I was late there was a bit of speculation about why.
