I do remember reading an interview that it's missions structured just like Hitman: Blood Money. Every level is a mini-sandbox for the player to approach on every possible angle. Also, judging by the people involved(Harvey Smith and Arkane) I bet it'll lean more towards the stealth side of things instead of the man-slaughter side, although you totally have the option to do that either.xXxJessicaxXx said:It looks a bit to much like Assassins Creed to me :/ I really like the Steampunk idea though that's cool. I love stealth games so I hope it's actually a stealth game and not just a combat game with parkour.
Edit, watched the video above and it sounds like you can have some degree of stealth so that's nice.
That's pretty much what I thought of it as well.manic_depressive13 said:I hate the first person camera angle so, so much. That's not what a normal person's field of vision looks like.
The slogan sounds like the sort of stupidly macho crap that appeals to ten year old boys, so I'm going out on a limb and saying this is going to be another badly written wank-fest. The visuals look good but I'm not really expecting anything more than passable plot-wise, and I think I'm being optimistic with that.
And how many opening cinematics are there going to be that involve a burly, shirtless man receiving some sort of brand/tattoo/mark and going "grrr burr hurr" as if he really needs to scratch his taint but can't get through his jeans.
Also the mark on his hands like holes?! Amirite?!Druss the Legend said:I was thinking more Count of Monte Cristo myself.Felipe Nurwandi said:Wait so... we get to, we get to play as Jesus? Cause I mean the guy in the beginning looks exactly like Jesus.
But seriously, I'm intrigued but not excited, Ive learnt enough about expecting things from trailers only to be horribly horribly crushed.
HORRIBLY.
Dieselpunk it is most certainly not as that would mean it was a subgenre of DecoPunk (like Bioshock) and set in style terms between the first and second world wars.TheYellowCellPhone said:>Steampunk/Dieselpunk styled theme
Everything from the trailer has been talked about in previous interviews and written about from demoed previews. In fact, I'm pretty sure the freeze time/shoot with crossbow thing was something which a play-tester discovered at random.Aerosteam 1908 said:I really hope it's not like the CGI trailer being completely bad ass and the actual game not worth the hype.
Look at Dead Island.
Also I like Steampunk. Hence my username.
The lead designer of Deus Ex is co-lead designing another immersive sim, and you blow it off because it's first-person?Zachary Amaranth said:I was excited until I saw the first person scenes. Then I just lost all interest.
Yes. It's almost like the very nature of first person games is enough to prevent me from being "immersed" or even interested.Woodsey said:The lead designer of Deus Ex is co-lead designing another immersive sim, and you blow it off because it's first-person?
I have yet to be presented with a game which has attempted to woo and immerse me through interpretative dance, and so such a theory cannot yet be tested.Zachary Amaranth said:Yes. Why do I have a feeling your argument would fall flat if it was done in a format you disliked.
I got the sense it was meant to be somewhat ironic, instead of "this line sounds cool". I mean, murdering your way to innocence never goes brilliantly, does it? It seems pretty self-aware.Spitfire said:That's pretty much what I thought of it as well.
"Killing me won't solve anything!"
"Revenge solves everything."
When that bit came on, my impression was: "Oh look, another game that thinks I'm an idiot."
Having said that, I've learned never to trust trailers, be they good or bad. Until I see some proper gameplay, as well as some hints to what the story will be, I'm not going to write-off Dishonored just yet.
Only in so far as that Steampunk and other punk are all sub/spinoff genres of cyberpunkPinkamena said:Isn't this technically cyberpunk?
How does seeing things through your characters eye, like... I dont know... you do in real life, prevent you form being immersed.Zachary Amaranth said:Yes. It's almost like the very nature of first person games is enough to prevent me from being "immersed" or even interested.

Also this.Tiddles said:It's new IP so I'm waiting in great anticipation for it. Any new AAA IP is worth listening to even if I don't end up playing it. It's nice to see developers make something other than sequels for a change.
Just to be that guy, none of that proves that those games are a buggy mess. Having completed Hunted myself I cannot remember a single bug, let alone a serious game-breaking one.NameIsRobertPaulson said:Need more? Or should I "stop posting"?
