Let's see, how many dead celebrities does this year alone have now? At least 10. Well this will most likely boost sales for the game though.
One wonders. While that seems to be the case with music and other forms of art, I believe this is the first instance of a celebrity so closely linked to a game dying so near its release date. I think it will be interesting to see if sales do indeed benefit as a result.

Too bad this is the first in the series so we have no valid point of reference against which to compare said sales.

Ya, not all that heart broken over some dude that died of OD, people die every second. What is sad is that Activision is going to milk this death for $$$.

Wait wait wait, a video game star turning up dead in real life of drug overdose?

There's got to be some sort of earth shatteringly good joke here.

My head's messed up.
At least he can go join Jackson and Mayes on that VIP cloud in the sky.

Sucks :/ Really liked the stuff he did with Travis (Go listen if you haven't) and it'd definitely a shame, especially after surving the plane crash and everything.
R.I.P.

Goldstein's history of drug abuse was well documented and let to a failed suicide attempt in 1997.
Don't you mean "lead to a failed suicide attempt"?

-PEDANTIC PISSING OVER-
Yes I did, thanks for pointing it out to everyone in big red letters.

I did it in big red letters more to make fun of myself. I could've just pointed it out, but I'm sure someone would've called me out on nitpicking (and rightly so). So I called myself a pedant, and moved on fairly quickly.

No offence intended, I just noticed it is all.

But ya, if I hadn't read this post, I could've gone and played the game and not even known it was based on a real person.

Still unfortunate to hear the guy's dead, but if he did drugs etc then it's kind of his own fault. Too bad too, this game surely would've given him quite a bit of notoriety.

I thought of that too [http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/lead], but apparently it's a regional thing? I ended up going with dictionary.com's spelling...

EDIT: I just realized I'm insanely offtopic for a thread about a man that died. I'm going to go to my corner and shut up now.

EDIT2: I'm also seeing that I was indeed wrong, and led is correct. Curses!

OI! That was severely uncalled for! Shame, I thought a Gonzo knew better.

OT: I cant say I really liked his style, but thats the same for every genre, there will always be a few you wont enjoy. RIP bro.

It's ok... i'm sure the 5 or 6 people who genuinely care about his passing don't frequent the Escapist..

Holy balls this is some ultra-callous shit you guys are pushing.

DJ AM was a talented DJ, a popular man and above all - a fellow human being.

Have some fucking compassion. "Oh it's his own fault for all teh drugs." You say the same to any smoker who dies of lung cancer?" - Wait, half of you probably do, why am I even bothering.
Ergh, my opinion of these forums has fallen greatly in the last 10 minutes.

And for the record DJ Hero looks awesome and should be on par with guitar hero for gameplay.

yeah, mebe i was a little cruel, but to me, creating techno (if thats what he made) is really high on my "thou shalt not" list.
